    The look on that ladies face in the intro when the organ rises up and the tears of joy in her eyes are… just priceless!

    Thanks for making this. Since I found you on TH-cam about a month ago, I am watching all your videos. Because of you, I have started playing again every night and enjoying it. This video is a bit of genius. That old lady really tugs at your heartstrings.

      Jim - I’m delighted to hear you are back at the console - well done!
      Yes Mr Heiney’s story was very nice - apt as in the heyday many cinema organs were household names / celebrities.
      Best regards
      Tom

    the ergonomic nightmare known as the organ backstage.

  • @robertservice227
    @robertservice227 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Tom. I watched the video again, and I'm convinced you should get hazardous duty pay. If you don't duck your head at the end, decapitation may result. The organ looks like a very late model. I'm wondering what it is.

    • @KeyboardSkillsPro
      @KeyboardSkillsPro  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it’s a timed sequence to wave, duck, get you hands and head clear :)
      It’s not a real pipe organ, it’s a virtual computer job.

      @@KeyboardSkillsPro Tom, I hope you understand all this is in jest. I have to give credit where credit is due. The theater appears to be rather small, and I think it's absolutely ingenious the way theater organ was able to be placed where it wouldn't otherwise be possible. If there's a will, there's a way. I love the lady in the front row with her fascination of organ. If the young lad in the audience is as interested as he appeared, grab him by the hand and let him have a go at the keyboard. That's how I got started. Best of luck and a very happy new year to you and yours.

      I smiled a lot when I read you 'danger money' comment, Robert!
      The cinema did look at 'ready made' electronic organs but all were too big - the job is made up of various parts (Midi keyboards/pedals/ speakers/ Hauptwerk software) but it makes the right sound for the job - the organ case is only 1m x 1.2m big.
      The lady in the front row is called Wendy and is a friend of the director's. The young lad is an ex-piano student of mine (he moved away to boarding school so has lessons there) so I've already got him on his musical journey!
      Enjoy your music making Robert and many thanks for watching my channel.
      Tom

      Tom, You can't go wrong with Hauptwerk. I'd sure that's why it sounds so good. I've been toying with putting Hauptwerk on my Kawai XR-9000. What you have there is very impressive.
