I love playing tiny mechs! The action is so much faster, the stakes so much higher! And facing these Titanic mountains of steel when you feel barely bigger than a human is such an awe inspiring feeling! :D

Love me some light mech action. One of my fav mechs was the locust 1S, zipping around slamming srm spam into components. Had more than a few awesome last stands or clutch moments which were so memorable. I picked it because it reminds me of playing scout in tf2, picking off people on their own or skirmishing the brawls. Using speed to choose your fights is such a powerful abillity.
Nice Mustache Baradul, I like it.

I haven't played any of my fleas in a while. I should get back to them.
I think I would have bought more anchor turn than radar derp, but you clearly did fine without it. :D
Always a pleasure to see your content. Thanks for your hard work!

Usually you want full radar dep, speed tweak, and anchor turn in fast light mechs like this. I'd drop almost anything else to get the remaining two nodes. Personally I'd drop the two missile critical hit nodes and the one velocity node, but like you said he seemed to do fine without it. I'd also consider doing the math and looking at swapping heat gen nodes for heat containment/cool run nodes; in my experience you often get more from that for the same points when you crunch the numbers and even save a few points to use for other things while you're at it; that could also be where the points for radar dep come from.

@@stormthrush37 Interesting. It's been my experience that one radar derp node was enough.
That's a nice thing that we can all have different playstyles.

@@Artificer1911 That's probably it right there - different playstyles. I usually spend most of my time on my own behind enemy lines, and only get back to the team if I'm getting aggroed really bad.

I find the Flea a good step up from the Locust in Mechwarrior 5. That's different from MWO, of course.

I wish this game got some love from PGI instead of letting their partner streamers ruin games by queue stacking with hacks, and we haven't seen a mech sale in forever. Legendary heroes are gone, etc.
It's like they WANT to kill it, and with the state MW5 is still in, it's disappointing. MW5 is being carried by the community, I think every mod developer needs to send PGI a giant fucking bill.

Main things, don't stand around not doing anything. Keep shooting, share your armour. Don't worry too much about being new. There's one guy, T A E K W O N V who exclusively plays an XL King Crab. He always hides behind his team refusing to help, and as a result his team often loses. Why he plays like this I have no idea. He has over 31,000 matches played. So I guess he must be at over 8000 hours played. Do better than him and you're doing well.

      Communicate.
Try to focus on a location when attacking (side torso, leg, so on).
Twist your torso when getting fired on.
Try to always be moving, even if only a little bit. A gentle rocking can be enough to throw off an enemy's aim.
      Communicate.
You'll find a mech that fits your playstyle. So don't be afraid to experiment.

@@TheLogan-ir6di No problem. If you're surviving for a couple of minutes, it's ok so long as you're doing damage. I would say to start with, try using a mech the can make good use of PPCs. The Thunderbolt 9S I think has +1 to the heat scale limit for PPCs. That's a quite reliable one to use with 3 ERPPCs. Check the mech quirks, it will say something like "ERPPC HSL +1".
It's a fairly reliable mech and you have the option to use other builds with it if you get bored.
For an assault, probably try out the Madcat II. It's quite easy to use and has variable loadouts. I recommend one you can put 2UAC5 and 2UAC10s in.
They're both easy to use mechs which encourage you to be directly engaged. So you will be doing damage while drawing some fire towards you too.
Mechs to avoid as a new player, would be anything with LRMs. You can get a nice damage big number. But you won't learn how to play the game and the damage is often ineffective due to splashing it all over. Avoid lights too. You don't really want to use a light until you know the maps and how to maneuver well. I would also avoid using an assault that can't go faster than 54kph as a new player. At that speed, your positioning will get exploited and you won't be able to help effectively.
If you're going to use a medium, try something like the Vindicator or Kintaro because they have forgiving armour quirks and build flexibility.

@@TheLogan-ir6diIf you're dying that quickly is likely positioning that's the problem. Think more about what cover you have and lines of movement. Also tick closer to your team, don't be the guy the enemy team sees first.
