    Wowza once again for you folks. Very strong chance an old homestead was in that area, the marble is the ”sign”. Late 1800’s is the era for the marble, I have found em looking for projectile points and metal detecting fields.

      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Todd! I figured it was an old marble, but had no idea exactly how old. That’s really cool! Appreciate the info. I know most of the fields in the area have remnants of old homesteads here and there. Lots of old ceramic, buttons, metal, ect…

    Love your videos! A suggestion to chew on. Always wanted to see a channel where the same few folks pick up artifacts and at the end of the month (or year) you put it all on the table and do a video where each of you pick points one at a time, meaning you are finding artifacts to put in the pool and not for yourself at the time. Would be fun to watch that end of month video. Just a thought. Regardless I'll keep watching and thanks for posting!

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve got to say that would make a rather interesting video. I don’t think I could talk everyone else into putting their finds into community pool to pick from…lol. I’d definitely have some upset family members…😂😂 Appreciate you coming along for the hunt!

    It blows my mind there are still farms that have that many points and artifacts still laying around in that quantity. I'm in shiawassee co. MI and our farm has been pick over for 30 plus yrs. Havent found a artifact since 2003! I'm a farmer and do alot of walking and rock picking! Sweet video

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear ya Kevin! We live in Kent county Michigan and I struggle here to find a few points per year locally. Some of the sites we have in Indiana were just very large habitation areas for every time period. Thousands and thousands of years and cultures of people. Hope you eventually find some more pieces there on your farm!

      @@artifactaddiction Yes, I have a buddy that lives in Northeast IN and farms 100 acres. He doesn't arrowhead hunt, so he said I could hunt his farm and no one hunts it. Unfortunately, it isn't on a waterway. I found one on his place. We drove around, farms are everywhere, and he said he could get me on most of them, so I picked one on the Eel River. I only found one on it too. They had a wet spring and a lot of the farms he wanted me to be able to hunt didn't get plowed. They switched to no-till this year with the wet conditions. Next year, he may have some better farms lined up.

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you have a great contact on the Northeast side!! Just gotta get on the right spot. Definitely stick to the farms adjacent to the river or wetlands. The Eel river is a good one. Look for the fields with sandy high ground around the river. I’m sure you’ll get into them! Best of luck!

    Awesome hunt, I can't get over there's a pt 2!! It didn't look like there was any water nearby, now that I think about it I can't remember seeing water in many of your videos.

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Larry! We had to separate the day, or the video would’ve been just too long. We had a great day and didn’t actually cover the whole field either. Ran out of time. There is a major river within 100 yards of this particular site. All of our site are located on a water source. Mostly major Rivers. Some Lakes/wetlands.

  • @howardfreeland5595
    @howardfreeland5595 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You guys had quite a day. It would be good to visit that site after heavy rains, etc. One of the later points looked like a Pentagonal (Converse book) at 21:36 (page 102). A great family outing! At 20:30, maybe that point is a 'transitional' (again Converse)? It looks like the pictures in his book. Please read the Converse book page 26 about transitional points. Bob says they have an "unambiguous radiocarbon date of 11,490 years BP". His book was dated 2007, so a few more years can be added!

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’re dead right on the Transitional point from the Converse book. I looked at the description and it fits that point to a “T”. Concave base, heavy basal grinding, shallow flutes on both sides, and very well made. Makes that point quite extra special! That’s one of my favorite books too. Appreciate you taking the time to check those out and share your thoughts. Thank you!

    • @howardfreeland5595
      @howardfreeland5595 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artifactaddiction Did you see how the point was date? Quire unusual to have proof like that. That point is older than it looks!

    • @artifactaddiction
      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it says an example was found imbedded in a giant Beaver chewing. Radiocarbon dated to 11,490. That’s amazing! I had a feeling with the concave base, heavy grinding, and shallow flutes that it was something special and older. Appreciate the info. Hopefully there’s more there. That field is very close to where we’ve been finding all the Hi-Lo’s too.

      @artifactaddiction  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks buddy!! That concave base point is a killer piece that’s a lot older than I originally thought. Looks likes it’s a perfect match for a Transitional type in the Robert Converse book. Dated at 11,490 years old!
