    I won't criticize any product used to remove mold however, at 100% moisture you said you were hoping to use that same sheetrock. Replace it with mold resistant sheetrock when you done!

      I think you got your remarks mixed up. I wouldn't keep any Sheetrock that mold grew on.

    How to get rid of small mole under kitchen cabinet on drywall and cabinet wood?
    I don't think the material is compromised but moisture is detected on them by a mold inspector?
    Can we try with mold spray, wipe off a few time, dry the area with fan or hair blower ?
    What about the floor underneath the cabinet base board, we need to worry? The inspector did not go that far or removed anything yet, so maybe unknown
    until we actually remove the material.

    Great video.. good tips for the moisture meter and mold control spray. I noticed that you didn't pop open the ceiling inside the closet. I should think that water from the spill would have hit the back of that drywall, possibly to promote mold on the back of that ceiling drywall. Any thoughts?

      you may be right, the only good news is that the water leak is fixed and no more water will let mold go dormant. when you seal up the drywall, we should be good. BUT you are right, it would have been safer to do the job at that time.

    use a heater fan or hair dryer.

    Did you test your floor and the basement area as well? How far down would the moisture go? Would it be in the floor as well

    • @KenTraining

      no basement at this house. I did not test the floor but the floor is where we first saw the water, so 100% wet there.

    You're a genius. Where did you get the moisture meter? Name brand, how much?

    What about the wet ceiling part? Maybe I missed it but did you do something to it? Thanks.

      Great question, I did not open the ceiling. Now that you mention it, I probable should have to be on the safe side. I was already into drywall repairs anyway. I should have made an access inspection opening to see what was going on. Thanks for bringing this up.

    Called service after my toilet overflowed , water went through cracks down stairs and through some nocks and cranny to a small portion of my ceiling . Service Master brought in humidifiers . Do you recommend humidifiers ?

    • @KenTraining
      @KenTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      maybe you meen de-humidifiers. yes you want de-humidifiers to reduce moisture caused by water leak. you want fans to help dry out the leak area. you want to increase the heat to help dry out the leak area. all these things will help. the quicker you dry out the better position you will be in for any mold growth prevention.

    I wish you would put links to your tools in the comments. Move your safe out of the closet, that's a bad location. Great video.

      Noted about the tools. that safe is stud bolted down and can't just be picked up and moved.

      @@KenTraining I would put a dummy plain box over it to conceal it and something heavy on top when going out of town.

    The pan for my attic AC unit overflowed and tipped and I have water and staining in the ceiling. I haven't had the AC or heat running g since, it's September, but my smoke alarm started beeping 2 weeks later. Will removing the access panel to my attic and leaving the space open be sufficient for drying? I don't think it's been long enough for mold to be a issue

    • @KenTraining
      @KenTraining  ปีที่แล้ว

      try to dry out asap. use a fan and such to promote as much air flow as you can.

  • @TJ-22

    What would likely have happened if you would’ve waited a year to open up the walls?

    • @KenTraining
      @KenTraining  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      most likely the mold would have been dormant because the water source was taken away. I assume many people don't open the walls and repair/replace.

    So if I threw a little bit off water on the wall could this cause mold?

    • @KenTraining
      @KenTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no, It takes constant moisture over a period of time depending on the temperature to create mold.
      minimum of time needed is at least 3 days but more likely 1 week.
