Maybe the cost of efficiency loss is less than what it would cost to cool it to the generally accepted temperature.. Something along those lines im sure..
If the ambient temperatur are lower than in the center no compressors are needed. It´s a common strategi to rise the temperatur of the cooling system to reduce the compressor energy. The ambient temperatur can cool the water system. But the best thing to do is to reuse the heat energy when possible ie in district heating. That is more and more common in cold areas with district heat system.
I do a lot of work in data centers, and I have been told by a few them that their highest cost is the electricity bill for the air conditioners, if there is no aircon, you use less power = more efficient. I can't remember any specific details but one of them was saying that if they replaced all of their equipment with components that could survive in higher temperatures and remove the air conditioning all together, that they would save an absolutely monumental amount of money. it would be quieter too - those fans sure are noisy. They said the biggest hurdle in doing that is the temperatures would easily climb to 50degrees Celsius+ and it would be very difficult to have people do work in there from an OHS standpoint.
i was confused about one thing this guy said. did he mean they have air conditioners up against their racks pushing the warm air into an isle where it rises to their secondary cooling, which would be the copper pipes with water that then runs outside through a cooling tower? are they using a secondary method of cooling to reduce the power consumption of their air conditioners?
The alligators are working all days all nights to protect the memes in the data center. UwU edit: before going thru' the replies, I didn't know I'll regret using an emoticon in my comment. I think the hard drive scooter tech is my new dream job.
This video genuinely seems very interesting, it really shows how much there has to be done that is happening behind the curtains, it's really fascinating to me at least, and I was surprised about the how high the security level they have, and all the infrastructure is just mind-blowing, so much work into just having "some" servers.
Great video!
google looks very modern but i have been hacked youtube channel "Quan EB" and google is completely helpless to support me. google does good marketing but it's really bad
Let's don't deny that as an IT Professional we hope we'll be given an opportunity to work there 🙏
Google security is so good that Hollywood never breaks in.

Imagine
just imagine the electricity bill for all of that

Don't forget the carbon footprint. We are going to be forced out of gasoline vehicles much much sooner because of Google. But they are above us pheasants, right?

Very small percent of employees are authorised to enter the campus except these dogs
These dogs are spies from yahhoo
Whenever google isn’t working it’s when one of those dogs bit one of the servers
In fairness; I wouldn't want just any random person walking through all of our personal data... they don't admit many in there for obvious security reasons.
Hello Nagesh, i would like to discuss an important topic with you pls kindly get back to me as soon as you can.thanks John
@@sayakominamoto9137 it doesn't require more than 30 guys to work on that whole room. the servers aren't failing every hour, theres just no need for more or they would be there trust me.
Best security practice indeed! fill the campus with alligators! xD xD
I thought that sign was a joke at first. But it's in South Carolina, they're serious.
Wow. :-)

It’s my dream to work in one of these buildings one day. I love and live for this kinda of stuff. I’m going to college for a Networking and systems Administration degree right now hoping that one day I’ll get to this.
Good luck bro.
Skellybob, it's your dream to work in one of these buildings?....sounds like a nightmare.
good luck to you! i wish you will look back in this video 10 years later and see your own comment to know that you made it!!
Skellybob good for you, but it sounds ultra boring
work in datacenter is a nightmare... It's better to work as network consultant and come to datacenter just to connect new devices.
How is the data center more efficient when its warmer?
Maybe the cost of efficiency loss is less than what it would cost to cool it to the generally accepted temperature..
Something along those lines im sure..
Thats true I didn't think of that
If the ambient temperatur are lower than in the center no compressors are needed.
They said the biggest hurdle in doing that is the temperatures would easily climb to 50degrees Celsius+ and it would be very difficult to have people do work in there from an OHS standpoint.
i was confused about one thing this guy said. did he mean they have air conditioners up against their racks pushing the warm air into an isle where it rises to their secondary cooling, which would be the copper pipes with water that then runs outside through a cooling tower? are they using a secondary method of cooling to reduce the power consumption of their air conditioners?
i'll have my own datacenter one day
An Apple device succesfully inflitrated the heart of Google's data centre...so much for security
Alq A lot of software is created on Macbooks, OSX is a preferred environment for development
Alq its google not Microsoft.

Alq its google not Microsoft
Hearty Oatmeal So you're saying Google is vulnerable? Great.
Helpful comment
For those using metric system, the temperature of the data center is 26 degress celsius in metric
The alligators are working all days all nights to protect the memes in the data center. UwU
