Hi thanks for your helpful video. I just got the newest chromecast GoogleTV device and I use it on a Samsung SmartTV. Question: if I buy the Samsung HW-Q950T Soundbar system set, would I be able to group that surround speaker set using Google Home in combo with Nest and Nest mini.
Also, 2nd question. Can I play one thing on the TV + surround system but a family member can play something separate on a different speaker group in another section of the house?

Nice work. But I am struggling with a routine. I can set a routine to open Spotify and play some music, but how can I then have the routine also play this music on a specific speaker, which is not a Google one, but does show up in the menu of Spotify?

Is there a way for routines to be activated automatically when i do a certain thing. Let's say i have a fire and nest protect alarms are activated and i wanted it to turn on the exhaust fan connected to a smart outlet to exhaust all the smoke out of the house automatically. Is there a way to do this with google routines?

hello, so i just started with google home. can you help me? i get how to use the routines, but the thing is it wont do the routines i set it up with. how come? and if i just use regular GA it would do the action.

Hi, very good video. Can you please help me get the command to activate /deactivate my location. Setting the action to 'Activate Location' open the window to set my location
The time I set as a trigger passes and my assistant does nothing. Any ideas how to fix this? I didn't find anything helpful on the internet. This is so frustrating
Hi Josh! Do you know if the Google assistant routines will ever support automations like when a door opens turn on these lights etc.? Right now I can only do that though SmartThings.
We don't know if that's in the pipeline yet, but adding that type of IFTT functionality would make sense.

Thank you! I would like to customise my “I’m home”routine whereby I want my speaker to read the news first and if it’s finished then start a playlist. This is possible by asking to read the news in the custom section and the in the “and then” section ask to play music. The problem I get is that google immediately starts the music and doesn’t wait until the news is finished. Any idea how to fix this?
Put both the play news and play playlist actions under the custom section and see if that fixes it.

i don’t have the routines button is there another way to set it up?
Sleep timers in routines no longer work for me and haven't for months. Not sure why they stopped working as I made no changes to my routines.
Now I get "Sorry, sleep timers can only be set if media is playing" even though you can hear the music start during the previous steps in the routine.
i use IOS 16.1 on an Iphone 12 but none of the screens look the same as your video and i cannot figure out how to create or edit any of the routines.
The adjust speaker volume doesn’t work in my routines. Bug?

Example routine called bed time,
Google does:
Turn off livingroom lights
Set lights scene bedroom on
Turn thermostat to eco
Start roomba to clean.
What i want in this routine is that google asks me if she must start the roomba. Do u know how?
Not sure if that type of feature is supported with routines currently. Google would need to add if/then decision trees or something else for that to work - Josh
How long did it take before you got tired of Google saying all that stuff before you clean
WHAT if i only want the routine to trigger in a especific time, for example bed time I want it to begine at 11 pm but I dont want to say every time "ok google, bed time"
Thank you for the video. How do you end a routine please? I have it set in the bathroom. It turns the lights on then plays music. But I then have to turn the lights and music of separately. Hope you might help please
You could create another routine to turn off the lights and stop playing music. That's probably the easiest way to automate it.

Great video. I have what I think is a simple question, but I can't find an answer. I want a routine that sets all of my volumes (Ringtone, Notification, Media, System) to a specific %. For example. I'm getting to work and want to turn all of my volumes down to 5%. I have been able to set almost all of them without issue, but the notification volume is the elusive setting. I have a Samsung S21 and there is even a preset command called "Set Volume" with the description Ringer and Notification Volume. But it does not affect the notification volume at all. Thanks for your advice.

I just want my assistant to read a custom to-do list step-by-step, the way it reads like a recipe, checking in to see if the previous step is completed at each step... why is it so hard?!
So without the Google Home app, I can't access routines? Cause I can't find it in Google assistant settings. Pixel 4a. Help.

What Would it be okay to keep Google Nest Hub powered on forever?
The Nest Hub uses around 2 watts of power during standby. You can keep it powered all the time without much effect on your power bill. The Nest Hub Max draws 5.7 watts, so I only keep one of those on in my house.
It's meant to be kept on forever

Is it able to turn brightness on my phone to 100% and turn wifi off + turn mobile data on
Yes, though once it turned off on data connection it stopped working so I'd turn on mobile before turning off wifi, but we got most of it to work on our Pixel 4a which has the on device Google Assistant.

Mmmm, in a Phone with Spanish it doesn't appear, then you have to tap your picture (top - right), then choose Assistant settings and finally choose Assistant tab and in that option you will find Routines option.

What kind of sounds were you expecting?

Hmmmm, make sure the speaker volume is turned up at that time and the routine is actually being run by a speaker in your room. It could be running without any speaker identified.

Where does it say how to repeat a previously used routine without saying the routine name over and over again?

There is no option to delete a routine. Why is the trash icon not there? Why is this so difficult???

Ever since unsubscribing to a simple thing like 'daily facts' seems like an impossible task, I refuse to delve into any other routines until unsubscribing becomes equally easy as subscribing. It's hilarious.

Google assistant routines on the phone only works if you say something to activate it.
the timed/ automated start only works if you have an external speaker for some reason, it forgets the phone has speakers. Utterly useless for anyone who needs to automate their daily routine with just their phone.

Bixby Routines is way better. Not sure why Google is so far behind with routines.
