Thank you very much for your review! I am from Ukraine and it was difficult for me to find similar reviews in my language, but I am glad that I know English and was able to watch your video! Thanks for your hard work!
Thank you so much. I only just recently found out about Cosclay and had so many questions. I was concerned about having to buy colored clay or painting. Great to know I can do both and don't have to sacrifice detail for color. Seriously, Cosclay should post this video on their site. It's fantastic! It should be titled Cosclay FAQ.
You're welcome. Eh this video is probably a bit too long for something like that, but you do have a great idea! With a little more experimenting I may post such a video myself. I'm glad you like this and thanks for the support!
Thank you so much for the tutorial and experiments! I've been trying to make hands for a stop motion character, and I think I've finally found the perfect material. I've tried silicone casting and sugru, but I think Cosclay is my new best friend.
I appreciate your tutorial. A few tips: -polymer clay, even CosClay, should only be wet sanded because the particulates are very bad for your lungs. -If you like sculptures that are both strong and flexible, Premo, Cernit, Souffle, Kato, Pardo, and Fimo are ALL much stronger than Super Sculpey Original, and are designed to be flexible with proper baking. -Cernit and Souffle are strong enough amd flexible enough to be considered "Furniture Grade," meaning they are both strong enough and flexible enough to be worn as jewelry(one step below furniture grade) and also strong enough to make decorative wall pieces with, including small shelves. -Super Sculpey Original, Sculpey Original, and Sculpey III are brittle after baking and not designed to be handled after baking. But, if you mix it with Cernit Translucent, 60/40, Cernit/SSO, you will have a blendable, strong, and break resistant piece. Happy sculpting.
It IS good to be back! I was getting pretty down... these guys reaching out to me has helped me more than they could imagine. A healthy distraction from dark, linear thoughts! I only wish it didn't take to days for me to "start" this video cause that made me feel the need to rush. I want at least 2 videos a week! (if I had my way lol) Thanks for being a friend here btw, I don't have many people in the real world in my life, just saying.
@@TheBroodingTom I had a feeling something was up, I tend to be more empathetic than most, and have been to hell and back a few times myself, including over the last few years, so I get it! I was actually going to comment on one of your old video's again, to touch base, but worry about intruding. They say everything happens for a reason, and I don't want to stress you out, but I'm quite involved in the polymer clay/TH-cam community, and I have a feeling this Cosclay is going to be big, and I have heard YOUR NAME SPECIFICALLY, a few times, already!
Thank you so much for this video! I just got my Cosclay in the mail and sculpted a figurine. Unfortunately, I didn’t see this video first and ended up with cracked limbs because I bent them around before my second bake. The cracking was a complete mystery before I saw your video!
Very glad this helped. Yes, this could easily be a mistake to anyone, experienced or not, and I hope they offer a warning or tip within the packaging for the final public product. Thanks for checking this out, if you feel like helping you could share this to a friend, or a site that's relevant, at any rate thanks for watching!
Acrylic is kinda rubbery if you ever let a small amount dry on some way paper. I had the feeling it would work lol. But was nonetheless surprised seeing it happen!
Thank you so much for presenting these salient points relative to Cosclay. I bought some back in November and neglected to re-read the FAQ sheet on their website before using for the first time last week. I immediately got the cracking and was very disappointed. You clarified the problem and many other things.
Now I want to see a test with detached overlapping scales, as opposed to your attatched overlap. I wonder if the scales would follow the curve when you bend it. That would be so cool.
That would actually be kinda hard to do, the tact (stickiness) of this clay is very high... even if I prebaked the scales they would stick to the raw clay very well (a good thing actually)
Awesome to see another video on this!! I was thinking that Ace of Clay should try this clay out too! Especially as he paints everything all the time anyway this would be great for him since he only ever uses a single color of clay to sculpt with. - Heidi
I recently found his channel! Said hello a couple times, and yes, I mention this clay to him. But never heard back from him, I'm not sure he replies to subscribers. To be honest tho, ANY who use clay would/could like this... especially once the colors are released!! Thank you Heidi!!
I can't help to wonder if I hadn't abandoned my channel so many times, would it do at least half as well as Ace's, having 1/2 the subs at least. Not having my videos sent out to the "number of subs" this new date they gave me claims it should, is painful and heartbreaking (4-5k subs ASKED for everything on this channel by hitting that bell) but I will try to fix this!!! Which reminds me, you've been an amazing friend for years now, thank you for that!
I just baked a test hand of about 4 cm. It crumbled up at the forearm where the end was. I used no armature in the fingers but did in the hand. I'm rebaking it in hopes it will firm up and not crumble
@@TheBroodingTom I used the cosclay soft. I was sent a beta pack thought not really sure I'm a beta tester. I think I figired it out. Cosclay said to use the house oven as I was using a halogen. The halogen doesn't keep consistantly heat
@@victoryahlovett2774 Yes that's the issue :) Be sure to use an oven safe thermometer to make sure your oven is generating the correct heat (275F/140C) -Alex
After the first baking, can you bend it so you can adjust what you are making/attaching it to, and then bend it back so its straight, and then bake it again with no cracking, then bend it to shape?
If you are able to bend it back to EXACTLY what it was after it first came out of the oven without the slightest new stress present, then yes. Otherwise it'll release the newly created stress in the form of cracks during the second time baking. Hope that helps
I want this stuff yesterday! I'd like to sell sculptures, but with the way UPS kicks around boxes I don't think my hard work would arrive in one piece . And after seeing those scales move like that, I'd like to use this stuff for costumes for sure. I'd still be concerned with paint cracking. So colored clay would be better.
Thanks for making this for us, I think this stuff blue your mind, loved the expression on your face. You are so cute and have a really personable personality. Lol, from someone’s grandmother. ❤️👍🏼
Thanks for your interesting tutorial. I have a question about the painting. In your video I don't see any primer before the painting. can I really paint with acrylic dyes without any primer?
Thank you so much for sharing! I'm going to make a posable baby dragon soon and I'm so scared I'll mess up any of my tiny Kickstarter batch 😅 You pretty much tested all the questions I had about this clay
Bought two bricks of it yesterday. Still like Super Sculpey. This clay can be added to do things like horns, spears, arrows, swords - things that are prone to break on sculptures. How many "Spock" ears (elvin ears) have been chipped or broken - not with this clay.
I always watch sand to hold down the dust. Sure love the possibility of this stuff. I make a lot of miniatures dolls and furniture food and stuff. So many clays crack when thin. Thank
Hi. Love your videos! Does Cosclay have anything equivalent to "bake and bond" or "liquid sculpey"? -Or do you know if those would be compatible with it?
Hi I have a question so I use cos clay medium firm I made a cape for my character and after I bake it it broke like a cookie so I think ir was my fault because it fall inside of the oven but I thought it wouldn't broke because is a flexible clay any tips?
I'm just having some issues. Today I used for the first time, Cosclay sculpt - soft. I made a figurine and used thick wire. Yes it was thick..but after baking, it didn't feel like rubber and it felt like if I dropped it, it may chip. Not sure what I did wrong....
I assume you figured this out already, but just in case anyone else comes across this, if you make cosclay thick it will be harder like plastic and not rubbery.
