I almost choked on my nachos from laughing so hard when I saw it in theaters. I also want to know why she was all of the sudden so far from the vehicle when she started shooting, she deserved the death she got.
I watched this on Peacock the day it released. As soon as I heard the Ben Tramer reference, I immediately chuckled to myself because I was thinking “Snob’s gonna be so happy!”
Oh my God, Tom Jones who plays Doctor Loomis is almost the complete spitting image of Donald Pleasance. I just thought when watching Halloween Kills that they used the same technology that Star Wars movies did to digitally reconstruct Dr.Loomis/Donald Pleasance.
My biggest gripe with these movies is they expect the audience to know that Halloween has a long history (they acknowledge it with the pumpkins) but only the original happened? It would make sense for Laurie to be this way if Myers and her and a long history but Halloween 2018 is only the 2nd time they see each other in this continuity. And for an event that happened 40 years ago the town acts like Myers has been haunting them for decades.
As long as no one plays the Halloween Kills drinking game we are all safe. If you take a drink any time someone says "40 years ago" or "Evil dies tonight" you'll be drunker than Dr. Mixter from Halloween 2. Still wish Paul Rudd or Busta Rhymes were in this just for how silly it would be.
IF I hear one god damned Evil Dies Tonight in Halloween Ends, Im immediately shutting it off.....Kills was so bad I refuse to pay money to see Ends so I'll stream it on my already existing Peacock subscription, But IF I hear Evil Dies Tonight even once im done....
The novelization actually says that Tommy couldn't make out Michael's face on tv because a reflection of light hit the screen at that moment. I don't know if that's what the movie was tryin to get across, or if the author just put that in to try and make it work. There was also some explanation for why nobody seems to know what Michael looks like already. I think it said that there just aren't a lot of photos of him for some reason. Like no mugshots were ever taken or anything. The author was trying real hard to iron out the plotholes.
The novelization has really nothing to do with the movie....They're kinda thrown together, its not stuff they find in a script or anything...None of its cannon to anything.

Michael Myers gets shot six tiiiimes at the end of Halloween, and springs back without needing medical care or whatever. I think Ben Tramer should has miraculously survived being blown up and burned, as well, and have become an unkillable, unstoppable drunken jaywalker, that haunts Haddonfield by never looking where he's going, and randomly walking into traffic when you least expect it.
Never thought I’d see him do a Cinema Snob video on this. Especially when I was just watching this again a couple nights ago! Though it’s not too surprising since the third film is coming up in a few days so the dude’s practically obligated to do just that.😅

It's Michael, he's not exactly a beacon of morality and mercy, there's no reason to think he'd draw the line at child murder. It's not even the first kid he's killed.

It was kind of hilarious how in a Halloween movie most of the kills weren't actually done by Michael Myers. The chance of losing both your parents is quite high in this town where a year's worth of murders occur every night. It's almost as violent a place as Midsomer, United Kingdom, which is just above El Salvador for the rate of murders.
This movie should be applauded for asking and answering the question: "Can we make an entire movie out of providing exposition and backstories from other movies in the series?"

As a completely stupid as mixing up 6 foot jacked Michael Myers with some Danny DeVito’s Penquin looking dude is, I will say I do like the kills in this. I mean maybe because I grew-up watching Michael getting his ass kicked in H20 and by Busta Rhymes, it was just nice seeing him as a real threat again.
I've seen the first two, so i'll finish put the third. What I think would be amazing, is if in Halloween Ends, they suddenly thrown in the Thorne cult with no explanation. Led by capitalist druids. And then it ends with 'Nights in white satin,' just to really mess with the fans!
I hated Kills at first but upon rewatching it a few times since release, I've become a fan of it. Not perfect and the stuff with the hospital patient and the crowd sucks, but it has some amazing kills and Myers is possibly at his most brutal. I also really loved the opening 15 minutes of so.
@DankBeans Yeah, anyone who says Kills is the worst Halloween hasn't seen them all. 5, 6, 8, and Zombie's two remakes are to me way worse than Kills. Again, not a perfect movie but it gets more right than it does wrong.
I felt like I was going to go insane with all their chants of "Evil Dies Tonight." Like seriously yes we get it you want him to die quit chanting it over and over again. lol
I agree that it felt like a filler episode of a TV show. Tho the wittiest putdown I read was one person claming it felt like JLC died 5 days into production and they just made stuff up on the fly.
So I've been thinking how it could be improved and here are some thoughts: -Don't have it take place on the same night. Have it be a year later. -Laurie actually puts in effort to moving past her trauma, now that she thinks Michael is dead. She reconnects with Tommy and the gang, even has a sort of thing with that deputy character. -As those characters are all out together, Michael shows up and kills most of them...which includes Laurie. Tommy survives and escapes. -He can still start and lead a mob. He' fueled by what just happened and feeling guilty for failing to protect Laurie. -The ending of this film implied that Michael might be supernatural in this timeline. I'm willing to stick with that, maybe drop a couple more hints that are vague, but definitly lead there. -Karen dies, but not as a final shot/jump-scare. -Michael disappears again. Of the main characters we've been following, have Tommy and Allison be the ones to make it out alive. They can be the main protagonists for Ends
Actually I thought that callback line from Sheriff Brackett, being by the same actor and everything, right before the mob going to town on Michael was pretty damn awesome. This ended up being my favorite among any and all Halloween films to come after the very original. Despite its flaws I must admit to (others I have heard fans speak of, I really can't see), it gave me what I wanted, and I have to put it in the number 2 spot for that. It just barely claims the title of second best Halloween movie above Halloween 4 and Halloween 2018, and it's definitely not a high bar to cross for a Halloween sequel or reboot film to be just "pretty" good (as at least half of all the films are actually pretty bad or just downright atrocious), but still.
Here’s the thing, if this had been a Jason movie instead of a Michael Myers movie I wouldn’t have hated it, because I expect a Friday the 13th movie to be silly, over the top, have really dumb characters, and not actually be scary…but The Shape was actually supposed to be more subdued and genuinely frightening.

Haddonfield Police Department might be incompetent but they're fire department was Johnny on the spot. But of course that got them all slaughtered Terminator Style.

Imagine how fucked the town was for a few weeks after this. What do you do if a fire breaks out? Can't call the firefighters since Michael killed the whole ass department, half the town is dead, and the killer is just still out there. Meanwhile the crazy cat lady is screaming, "I told you so."

Halloween 1978 is one of my favorite horror films but I honestly haven’t enjoyed any subsequent sequel or reboot…it just feels like they all lack the magic the original had.
A mistake in line reading changed the course of this film forever. Laurie Strode was doing dishes when Michael enters the kitchen. She turns to him, tosses a dish towel, and says "Evil dries tonight.".
Something i find funny about the story is that, while the entire town was loosing their shit and falling into mob mentality, Michael was literally anywhere else basically playing Hitman.
I had a stroke trying to watch this, and figure out exactly which movie you were talking about, and when. I know this is the fault of the film makers, and not you. Thanks for another great review
Just remember everyone. Michael is supposed to be human with no supernatural enhancements at all according to either the director or writer (I forget). So all humans can be shot multiple times, beteaten, stabbed, and get lit on fire at the age of what 60-70 according to this movie. I loved the town rising up against Myers and I honestly wanted them to win but....nope. my theater legitimately booed when that happened after cheering on the townsfolk.
John Carpenter actually wanted to make Michael Myers a supernatural force in Halloween 4, but Moustapha Akkad was the one who wanted to keep Michael Myers “grounded.”

Maybe I am in the minority but I liked this movie more than 2018. I enjoyed the pure nihilism and craziness in this film. Plus, Michael actually wins.

The stand in Donald Pleasance is rather photogenic for playing him but there is only one Doctor Loomis.

Actually I thought that callback line from Sheriff Brackett, being by the same actor and everything, right before the mob going to town on Michael was pretty damn awesome.
This ended up being my favorite among any and all Halloween films to come after the very original. Despite its flaws I must admit to (others I have heard fans speak of, I really can't see), it gave me what I wanted, and I have to put it in the number 2 spot for that. It just barely claims the title of second best Halloween movie above Halloween 4 and Halloween 2018, and it's definitely not a high bar to cross for a Halloween sequel or reboot film to be just "pretty" good (as at least half of all the films are actually pretty bad or just downright atrocious), but still.
Here’s the thing, if this had been a Jason movie instead of a Michael Myers movie I wouldn’t have hated it, because I expect a Friday the 13th movie to be silly, over the top, have really dumb characters, and not actually be scary…but The Shape was actually supposed to be more subdued and genuinely frightening.
Really? Since when? The Thorn trilogy? Resurrection? He's even pretty dumb in H20.

18:45 if the movie had ended with laurie's speech, as michael is dead on the ground while she rambles on about how unkillable he is, it would absolutely be my favorite halloween movie ever...it would have had an actual POINT, about how the town built him up in their imagination into being a bogeyman, instead of the human he was...but then no, he just gets up and kills them all and blah blah blah seen it so many times
Haddonfield Police Department might be incompetent but they're fire department was Johnny on the spot. But of course that got them all slaughtered Terminator Style.
I hope Myers becomes the mayor in the next movie because no one knows what he looks like.

part of me still wishes they had that unused subplot about the silver shamrock reintroduction to this continuity thrown in, would've been random yeah but I guess it could've set up a sequel to that movie too lol

Imagine how fucked the town was for a few weeks after this. What do you do if a fire breaks out? Can't call the firefighters since Michael killed the whole ass department, half the town is dead, and the killer is just still out there. Meanwhile the crazy cat lady is screaming, "I told you so."

Halloween 1978 is one of my favorite horror films but I honestly haven’t enjoyed any subsequent sequel or reboot…it just feels like they all lack the magic the original had.
A mistake in line reading changed the course of this film forever. Laurie Strode was doing dishes when Michael enters the kitchen. She turns to him, tosses a dish towel, and says "Evil dries tonight.".
Halloween Kills AKA The Monster succeeded in creating a lot of little monsters.
Something i find funny about the story is that, while the entire town was loosing their shit and falling into mob mentality, Michael was literally anywhere else basically playing Hitman.
I had a stroke trying to watch this, and figure out exactly which movie you were talking about, and when. I know this is the fault of the film makers, and not you. Thanks for another great review

Just remember everyone. Michael is supposed to be human with no supernatural enhancements at all according to either the director or writer (I forget). So all humans can be shot multiple times, beteaten, stabbed, and get lit on fire at the age of what 60-70 according to this movie. I loved the town rising up against Myers and I honestly wanted them to win but....nope. my theater legitimately booed when that happened after cheering on the townsfolk.
