Nice video and discussion. I actually use my Magic as my main camera. One other feature worth mentioning is that you can add filters to the bottom lens. When you do this, when you attach it and when you turn it, you will see a number show up in the little window next to the lower lens. You are required to turn it to the number recommended for the filter you are using. So for example a yellow filter will stop light by 1 stop, turn until you see 1 in the window. The camera automatically compensates for the loss of 1 stop and you have the correct exposure. Enjoy your Magic, it's a great little machine. :)
@@forwardcameras there's a Dutch company that has a few of these light meters left as NOS parts. I had to replace it on my Rollei Magic II, because I wanted a fully functioning Magic II to compliment my late-Grandfather's Magic I camera. It was a relatively straight-forward replacement.
I just got a magic model1 too, but the crank seems to block after 180° turn, it won't do the full turn like I'm used to on my other rollies, any idea what the issue might be? ps, I can "pump" to the next picture, but I don't think the shutter fires at all....

Thanks so much!
Really informative video! Light meter's gone on mine, so I've been trying to work out how to get it working
You would only be able to use it at one shutter speed if the light meter blew on the magic I the magic II let’s you do full manual shooting

Unfortunately without seeing the issue it’s hard to diagnose. cla required. Please subscribe
Hello I had the same problem with mine. I took it in to a specialist for a CLA and it's as good as new.
Have you considered a TRIPOD!, SUPERB (annoying PLEASE get a tripod) BUT REALLY GOOD video

Good content but for a camera video your videography setup is pretty lacking. Trying to demo the camera with one hand is rough. You need a tripod.
