Hey Josh, you look Really nice on a 65" TV. Well, at least your fish do...lol Nice video Buddy. Chris was in it and no major problems, hmmm, what gives? Take care and Be Well guys 👍👍👍
Hey man. Great video. Looking for some advice. I never been grouper fishing. All my rods are medium to medium/light power for inshore fishing. Looking for a recommendation for a spinning reel and rod to try some grouper fishing at the skyway
I wanna see tons more of skyway pier fishing and not sure was that the Southside? Or north pier? I've always been told to go to the south pier and always fish after the 2nd bathroom. Is that tru you think ? Or is the north pier better ???? Thanks again for all the videos
Thanks for the video. I've been trying to find someone on TH-cam in the Tampa area who actually knows what they're doing. I've been to Skyway Bridge Pier a number of times now and been frustrated every time. Thanks for the tips. I will use them the next time I'm out there. Any particular time of day you'd recommend?
Whats better for bait? Grunt or Pins and Knocker Rig or Free line for best chances. i've been trying both at skyway with no results. Any suggestions would be great. Thx
Josh. What do you have for line on that reel? Is that the only kind of rod and reel and line you want to use off the skyway? I want to get some gear together and ready to head there soon. Thanks for the video.
80lb Spiderwire braid, 80lb mono top shot 55 yards. You can use heavy spinners but you need the drag and torque to move the fish from structure quickly.
@@Saltyscales Thank you. Cant wait to get out there. I have been talking about it for over 2 years now since i have moved here. I need to make moves. Lol.
hey joshua, i only catch and release and i never use live bait. i know... its just me. do people fish the skyway using anything artificial ? i hear alot about the gotchya lures but its seems kind of high to work it right
It's been a while since I've hit the skyway, man. This is a great video! I used cut pinfish to catch a redfish and a tarpon at my fishing spot last saturday. First time for both! Got the baby juvie tarpon first then the red maybe an hour or so, roughly, later. All under a popping cork. I had something attacking my bait, so i reeled in the bait, under a cajun thunder, and the tarpon came out of nowhere and smacked it. Was really fun until the line to the hook went. 20# seagar fluoro vs a 15 lb tarpon...ya... didn't work out too well. Love your vids, man. Keep up the good work! (ive only started just recently fishing for these fish, honestly. I have no boat and go where my truck and feet can take me. no yak either. not yet, anyways).
Sometimes you can find some really good fishing right from shore, the key is finding the spots that aren't hammered daily. Nice work on the tarpon and red. 👍
@@Saltyscales Yessir! The tarpon was a baby, but that thing really really fought hard. Cut pinfish under a cajun thunder...ya. that's my go-to rig now.

A good stiff rod is essential for lifting grouper out of cover. I use a Diawa rod called a Beefstick.

I used to fish them both equally, it really all depends on what you are fishing for, the season and if it's a weekday or weekend.
