Hey Danielle, we met at Pachamama in 2018, not sure if you remember... I love this TED Talk, thank you for your presentation, you look fantastic! I've been "vegan" for 7 years now, and most recently went raw this January... I must be doing something right because I've checked all the boxes according to your talk... Sprouts, Seaweed & Sauerkraut! Still looking for Love, but that'll come... Blessings, Bob
Bob! Yes! Of course I remember you! Sun gazing, breathwork and raw chocolates! You're invited to come join me in Nicaragua! I'm a day trip from Pachamama!
@@pachavega You've got a great memory Danielle... I would love to come join you in Nicaragua, however, I'm currently one of the 6 million Canadians not allowed to leave the country. I'm hopeful this madness will be over very soon!
You can make your own sauerkraut at home, just as I did in the video. Seaweed can be found in natural grocery stores or from a reputable, organic online store. Sprouts are so easy to grow at home. Just look for radish, broccoli, alfalfa seeds, soak overnight and rinse morning and night for a few days until they grow!
Yes, true. I've been focused more on algae, such as spirulina and chlorella with small additions of seaweed - from tested, reputable sources. It's always important to ask the back story of our food. Thanks for the comment.
Yes, that's very true actually. They can accumulate in their tissues. That's why we always recommend a variety of different seaweeds and algaes (not the same one over and over) as well as finding a reputable source that tests their seaweeds! Thanks for bringing this up!
I’m willing to bet that despite vegans having become internet memes who announce their dietary preferences at the drop of a hat, you’ve actually met more healthy ones than you realize. It is far more common to hear from people who didn’t do well after they made the switch though, mainly because they failed to do enough research before embarking on such a huge lifestyle change. Even with a healthy diet like a plant based one, it’s still surprisingly easy to get it wrong without due diligence.
Seaweed and algae are among some of the few plant groups that contain both DHA and EPA fatty acids, and can be easily incorporated into our diet. I specifically recommend marine phytoplankton, spirulina and chlorella for this
Maybe... just maybe, they didnt have adequate livestock or large game to hunt, or butcher. and thats why they only ate plants and grains that they could STORE for long periods we were ment to eat 🍖 hence the front and canine teeth
well... there are no maybes when you have science and evidence ;). if being healthy is an indicator of what human beings should eat, then we are definitely not meant to eat meat, period. what about canines then? have you ever seen teeth of a real carnivore? they are sharp like needles, not wimpy and blunt, like human teeth. talking about canines- all mammals except rodents, rabbits and pikas (whatever they are) have them. so what? should cows eat human flesh, then ;)? they probably eat grass because they don't have adequate livestock or large game to hunt...

I have mung beans in my pantry right now. I love to eat my veggies raw. Especially, okra.
I want to hang out with her!
How do you buy these products?

What type of salt?
Best to use unrefined, pure sea salt or pink Himalayan salt. Good question!
@@pachavega Also Celtic sea salt.
Unfortunately ocean pollution is making seaweed less desirable.

Painful to watch at moments, but super informative
Sea vegetables have heavy metals though....

@@pachavega Do you have any reputable sources that you would recommend or suggestions on how to get started to find these sources? :)
I have yet to meet a long-term healthy vegan. Most stop and shift to bring a pescatarian.

Seaweed has a grotesque amount of iodine. It's a terrible idea to get your omega-3s from it.
Iodine is useful, but yes, needs small doses. See ocean polluted seaweed below.

No it isn't.

Your knowledge about canines is lacking. Do some research and come back.
@Yashin Shekh yes, exactly. Human jaws were not designed for that. Thank you for pointing that out.
@Yashin Shekh Oh I love raw meat. I have steak tartare regularly, and carpaccio. Not to mention sushi. Yum.
Im not eating your vegetables
Been 2 weeks, still alive, no vegetables.
@@blanchy good luck with chronic disease ;)
2 weeks *no vegetables*
Honestly vegetables aren't that bad... Just cook them or add spices or whatever....
