    This particular lock pick set was featured in the movie "The Locksmith" starring Ryan Phillippe. It was terrible. But check it out.

    Subscribed! Bro u just saved me $100. I was eying this set myself for about a month now and was probably gonna waste my money this week…. Great info and great vids so far!
    Ill stick with Peterson, sparrows, covert instruments and multi pick for the most part, other than the customs they’re the top 4 easily.
    And thats 100% brass, absolutely not copper handles.
    And bro is right, those wrenches are for tulip knobs.

      Glad i was able to help and save you some heartache and money. to brockage's credit, they said this level of garbage is common from hudson lock so they sent me a return label promptly for a refund. i completely forgot about those tulip style knobs and will make a "corrections and followups" video soon to talk about any knew things learned after making my first 9 videos. thanks for watching!

    To say that HPC went to seed when it merged with Hudson Lock is the understatement of the century. For example, when I sent in a tubular pick for repair, it took MONTHS for them to look at it, and when they sent it back, it still wasn't working. Also, when I ordered a Blitz, not only where numerous code cards missing from the deck, but the E-Z Flip handle for the shoulder gauge was missing. P.S. Despite claiming to sell only to "security professionals", I honestly feel that HPC is trying to low-key market to locksporters with this and the Lady Loc set.

    Hello. That odd looking tension wrench was for Schlage "Tulip" style knobs which were popular in the 60's and 70's. The cylinder was set back due to the knob design. I have that same set from 20 years ago and the quality is much better. I don't use it, it's just one of many I have now. I learned with HPC picks because there was nothing else at the time in the 80's.

      That’s good information. Thank you. I’ll use that moving forward. A contact from the company Brokage told me that they are aware of the lack of quality control coming from Hudson Lock, they are aware that people are returning their lock picks, and there is no more quality control coming from Hudson. I agree, HPC used to be decent, but there are so many better options today. Brokage refunded my purchase in full with no trouble.

    Are the sticky inside the lock I ask because I have similar sets and they just grab everything inside the lock

    When I first started working with my friend that is a Locksmith he suggested an HPC set for me to start with. So I took his advice and bought their 32 piece spring steel set. My only problem was picks were missing that were listed to be in the kit. HPC just replaced the ones with doubles or triples of the same profiles. I went ahead and bought the picks that weren't in there individually. I think it was about 4 that they left out even though the kit had 32 pieces it really bothered me that I didnt receive what the product description stated. Cool thing though was I got some of their Stealth/Predator picks with black aluminum handles. I own several brands now of lock picks but I do love some of the HPC picks still. I really love the LPX-12 once it's been sanded to a mirror sheen. Even though they didn't provide all the picks stated on the webpage I'm still happy with their products. Right now I'm trying to find a supplier that carrys their handless spring steel picks to make a throwaway kit for work. Something that I don't mind if I lose one or break one. I really dont like taking my picks that cost $5 to $9 to replace to work

      I know how you feel. let me know where you find those picks. I don't know of any good suppliers of HPC other than lockpicks dot com. thanks for watching.

    Those "tulip" tensioners are good for those door handles with a recessed KIK cylinder. Thanks for another good review.

      Thanks, brother! Yeah, I realize that after the video. Fortunately, for me, they’re not that common in America anymore. It was a thing of the past. But I still have some of those tools on standby just in case. Thanks for watching!

      @sandman_locksport You do ask for responses and comments to your videos, just giving my input. 😀 Those recessed KIK doorknobs were way more popular in hotels or indoors back in the day, not so much these days.

    I don't get why some lockpick mfg'ers get so gung-ho on extractors. Are they just being cheap and padding their tool count, or do they feel it somehow increases the 'legitimacy' of the lockpick set because it has a genuine locksmith tool included that most lockpickers won't be interested in. Not that we would never break a pick tip off inside a lock (I did once but didn't need an extractor, it fell right out ) but that's gotta be pretty uncommon..?
    It's also funny how Hollywood hires various consultants all the time except, apparently, for computer hacking and lockpicking, both of which are depicted as ludicrously as possible.

    • @sandman_locksport
      @sandman_locksport  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I completely agree. I dont know why hollywood doesnt hire a locksmith for their scened or an IT guy lol. I think they add the extractors for the locksmiths but it's all just fluff. you dont know 4 of them or 5 of them in a pick set.
