Can't get over how good this looks, your color theory is just stunning. The level of detail you're able to achieve without making it feel overcrowded is unreal. Edit: Adding a question -- in a future video would you cover what your process looks like before you get to Blender/Photoshop? What references you're using when choosing palette/style? I'm currently driving myself crazy going in and out of that phase of art dev.
Thanks so much! Sure, i'll make sure to incorporate that in a future devlog! Although I must say that for the color specifically, I'm really going on what seems right intuitively. I always feel like I know so little about color theory. If I had to define my strategy, it would be to pick the same neutral color scheme for everything (dull green, beige, rusty orange, grey, etc). Then, since those color are pretty dull, when creating a new area, I choose 1 or 2 color that will really define the vibe. Those color can be more vibrant and complement each other. For instance, in the mine, other than the blue for the rocks, I chose a quite the bright green for the plants.
@@coldtrailgame You might just have a natural talent for picking colors! I completely agree with the overall feedback-the game looks absolutely stunning.
This is looking awesome! Better and better every time. I sent you an email back in September and just sent a followup in case you missed it. I hope to hear from you soon. :) Can't wait to see what comes next on this project.
I'm very impressed by all aspects of this game. I'm very excited to play it. Just one suggestion for a future devlog: can you discuss the programming side of things a bit? What is the programming setup? What language is it written in? Preferred text editor? The engine, I assume is Unity. If so, why was that chosen over other game engines? I love learning about the aesthetics of the game, but as a budding programmer myself, I am curious to see that side of your work. Keep it up! Looking forward to the next devlog!
The game looks awesome! This needs more views. (Maybe you could make shorter devlogs that are less technical and more tuned to what a player would want to see, and make these technical ones every now and then)
ghost jump doesn't feel good. It would be great if you could fix this and make it like this: jump starting> hang > falling. It would also be incredible if the sheet curled when jumping and falling. You video is good. I like it👍
