This tomb raider trilogy was just amazing..had the perfect blend of everything..from puzzles to climbing to stealth and shooting and amazing cinematic run and jump sequences
The DLC puzzles were crazy good and some of the most creative I've seen in the reboot series (shame they're not in the main game they really made people miss out)! 🤸🏻♂️ Plus great to see Lara evolve into the predator she becomes over the trilogy.
Amazing it was not. I like that there were more puzzles, but they still were too easy for the most part. Overall it felt too similiar to 2013 and Rise, like the series was running out of steam. Still a very decent game though.
@@charmingpeasant9834. Probably too easy for you, but for many of us not. In Shadow they atleast had a difficulty setting for puzzles, like easy mode has Lara give hints. That of being similar to 2013 and Rise is kind of the point though (assuming you complain on gameplay)?
Shadow of tomb raider was extremelt bland and generic in terms of the story. I could barely bring myself to finish it. This is esoecially if you compare it to uncharted, a much superior franchide in same genre.
The film wasn't bad. It tried to find a balance between the newer games and the extravagance of the old ones, so it did require some suspension of disbelief, but it actually ended up being a very nice Indiana Jones-esque action film, and that was probably the right thing to aim for. If video game films are never going to be taken seriously by the snobs in the film establishment, then you might as well go a bit tongue-in-cheek on it...
Ok I get it. Everyone misses the old games where there was puzzles and raiding tombs. I get it. But the franchise was dying , so they had to do something. And does anyone realize that they stated this Lara was younger? This game will establish what she is in the older games. Just like God of War. “ oh I miss the Olympic gods and how kratos just kills them” ok. That franchise was dying so they did something different. Which turned out amazing. Nostalgia is great. But we can’t stay stuck in the 90’s forever. Games have to move on and evolve, like we do correct?

Plenty of franchises can make new series without radically rebooting there series each time and maintain there central identity and do just fine. . Shows a lack of actual confidence in your product if you just copy ever movie cliches that popular now the average person can't even identify reboot lara croft as lara , . .The average public can identify classic lara , this shit ? this could be any random new game , with a random playable character ..They should of left it dead .
They better return to what madee Tomb Raider great after this game. I miss the classy, fierce, acrobatic, sassy and strong Lara. Stop with the "survival". Give us actual tombs and puzzles back.
I just completed this game...the ending gave me goosebumps. I love the art style, the lush jungle color scheme, the architecture, the story...I'm becoming really impressed with these super modern games, saying as i grew up playing 8-bit Nintendo! Video games are crazy advanced now and I'm glad.
Techno Dude SS It’s the end of the trilogy but we don’t know if it’s the end of Lara. Eidos and Sqare could continue the game either by going back in time to before TR2013 or continue forward. I seriously doubt that the series will end.

Ps4 pro runs this game at 1850p 30fps smooth the texture is high, anisotropic filtering is only 4x, but you won't notice it because of the artistic design of the jungle and also because of the high resolution appearance, no aliasing on ps4 pro... If you choose performance mode the game resolution will lock at 1080p native resolution at 60fps the low 4x anisotropic filtering is a little bit visible in this mode, the aliasing is a little bit visible in selected area but overall almost aliasing free even on 1080p mode 60fps... Xbox one x is the only console to run this game at near 4k 2016p with max 4k texture according to digital foundry.. Ps4 pro is only at high texture..
I swear people are unable to cope with any themes heavier than Lara's attractiveness. It's clear from the reboot series so far that they're exploring the mental development of Lara as she becomes horrifying proficient at killing from a fairly naive young woman with wanderlust. The first reboot showed her having strong feelings for people who were killed, that she was forced into killing to survive and save her friends. Even at the end of the reboot Matthias remarks about how many men Lara killed in her effort to survive, and he was just doing the same with Sam. Rise of the Tomb Raider expanded upon this even as Lara becomes even better at killing. Her notes and thoughts reflected someone who was beginning to become unrecognizable to herself. She's pushing away her friends like Jonah. It's the old adage of the danger of fighting monsters is becoming one yourself. I personally look forward to Lara dealing with herself looking way too much like Trinity and the Solarii. That's why the trailer focuses on her lethal aggressiveness, even to the point that the man she saves is more afraid of her than the man that was going to kill him. She drops the dagger in shock at what she's become.

Well said, they are making the journey of Lara a great one so far. I really love how she reacts differently to killing in the 2nd game. Also at the trailers for Rise, they even hinted that she needed therapy to cope with the mass killing she was forced to do to survive. Its a lot more realistic and I LOVE how they explore the mental state and how she becomes this expert ruin explorer from a simple history specialist. This series is so far amazing! Both story and mechanics.
Kilgar thank you. I agree that it is an excellent theme. It’s becoming more popular to examine what these life and death situations do to the psyche. Just like Wolfenstein 2, we see what killing does to the soul. Even killing obviously bad people has repercussions. With Lara, she’s doing the right thing, but what happens when you begin to relish it? Is seeking out truth worth the cost? I am excited for this game. I hope Lara is able to avoid becoming a woman with a heart of stone, that the game answers these questions about Lara’s mental state.
So after killing like 400 dudes on the first game, and another 500 dudes on the second game, now she looks at her bloodstained hand, all shocked and stuff, and wonders "what will she become"? Well, better late than never, I guess?
If you played the first game you would know that she really was traumatized by it, especially her first kill. She just doesn't want to become worse than what she's trying to defeat I think.

And if you played the first Tomb Raider (2013) you find like a whole river of blood, bones and bodies. They had killed for a long long time.
I didn't play any of the Tomb raider games until 2023, and I just finished shadow. The first two games in the reboot took me a week or two to finish, but I finished shadow in a day. To me that just shows me that it was my favorite out of the trilogy. I absolutely loved this game
@@Dood_Spooce They're all on sale so I can't miss playing them; I checked the trailer here for the third one as I just finished Rise today ; I don't do 100% as finding stuff and the challenges can be time-consuming and not fun at all . Also finished the Baba Yaga DLC which is awesome.
While I do love the direction and gameplay of this new series, the last game was very similar to the one before it. Secret location, crazy evil cult, and ancient undead soldiers. I hope they try something newer with this one (in terms of story).

StarSlayerTV This occurs in a lot of games where the graphical quality of the sequel exeeds the one of the previous installment by far. Geralt from Witcher, Cortana from Halo. However, there are games that managed this problem better like Uncharded.

SuccessfulMentality nah i agree with the other guy. uncharted went on for 10 years and nathan still looked the same. naughty dog did an amazing job with all the characters. what’s happening with lara is like desmond from assassin’s creed - they model her after different people and just tweak her a bit every time. Everyone is complaining about her face but to me she looks older than the previous installments. Maybe this is suppose to be a couple of years after Rise of the Tomb Raider? Also I think she has been training she seems more muscular. I like this. I’ve seen comments saying that Lara isn’t about killing people as the primary source of her character that it is tombs which I agree but I also feel that it is still very much part of her character. So as long as finding a treasure or ancient artifact as the overall goal then the game will stay true to her as a character

Big Durk TBH, Uncharted games have unparalleled story telling but in terms of gameplay mechanics, TR is better. Also, Nathan Drake vs. Croft? Easy. Croft FTW.
I really loved this game. Kinda foreshadowed how much Lara is going to kill in the future in order to keep certain artefacts from ppl. The ending was a little bit confusing, but loved it overall
Let's just look at how Lara has changed with the games. 1st game: Inexperienced girl just trying to survive. 2nd game: Experienced adventurer trying chase a mystery . . . . . 3rd game: God damn Predator.
The AC games got objectively worse after the second one, even Black Flag as good as that game is. I don't know if they count as sequels exactly, but most of the newer CoD games suck as well.

The biggest problem this reboot series has had, and continues to have, is Lara's face changing every game. It's hard to connect with a character who looks like a different person every game. It just feels like we're starting over each time.
I like to think they are doing it on purpose cause she is aging+the stress of her life. you wouldn't look the same if you did anything like this and people's faces change as they get older. I think she'll look the same from Rise. This is cgi, we don't have any screenshots of the actual game.

Blue bodies... apocalypse... a knife that looks oddly like the one that was used to try to stab the main character? I thought that as soon as I saw the first sign of if the man lying on his back & they were going to sacrifice him to the sun god. What was REALLY deep in detail about that part tho, was the NPC actually grasped the knife with BOTH hands just like in the movie... 🤯🤯

This game had a ton of fun tombs, and I think the DLC (which you can get for very cheap when it goes on sale on Steam) had even cooler tombs. I think this game takes everything good from the previous installments and focuses a lot more on tombs and puzzles too, I loved it and have replayed it twice!

Oh No true to a point, but Lara was the epitome of how being a female in tough circumstances didn't mean you had to border on being masculine. With this it now feels like they wanted a male lead (Nathan Drake style) but ofcourse because Lara IS a female lead they wouldn't be able to change it. It's disappointing because she can be feminine but not overtly sexy and still be right for the setting in the game.
DeepWaters93 in an interview, the developers said it you look at the game model, her face is actually the same except her body has more muscles since she’s rock climbing tons so it is really showing on her body.

I just finished playing the game and it is a lot more puzzle and exploration based than this trailer makes it seem. In fact the trailer does not put the game to justice, it’s much different than this trailer makes it seem. Also if you’re so bothered by her new model and prefer the old one, there is an option when you change her clothes to change to an older model. It might be part of the extra stuff it gave me for playing the other two games though.

Many people got mad with the 'new-look Lara' but I personally like her, she's no longer the busty gun-wielding bimbo from the first games but rather a well-developed character with much more to offer in terms of storylines & emotional engagement.
It's because the developers decided to change the way Lara looks in ROTR and SOTR. Tomb Raider 2013 had the best looking Lara, she was modeled after Megan Farquhar, who looks like classic Lara. But the last two games, Lara just looks off.
THEORY: The sacrifice the masked figure was going to commit was going to give him supernatural abilities, and since Lara interupted and committed a kill just as the eclipse is happening; the power will transfer to her. This allows for the developers to transform this version of lara’s abilities to be reminiscent to her classic version’s. Which will expand into a new set of games. They did say this is the final chapter to her reboot :)
It would be a nice change of pace for once. Seems she's always chasing after some artifact that's supposed to give people everlasting youth or powers or some other shit, "but for a price." What if just one time she was cursed herself? What if the price of chasing after such legends is to finally end up losing her humanity?

This new Tomb Raider games concept is new, unique, and very creative with evil cults, a dark horror themed feeling, in the jungles environment, chilling atmosphere, ancient tombs and spooky locations. It basically has a bit of everything in terms of versatility and the game play when Square Enix releases a sample of it, will be intriguing to watch how it functions. Also, the story is great and completely different from the last two games in the series. Definitely a game worth buying just based on the trailers alone. Passionate Tomb Raider fans will understand the meaning and significance of this game in terms of its concept to finishing the series with this one part three, Shadow of the Tomb Raider being the last game in the rebooted series. Hopefully it lives up to the expectations by concluding on a high with one of the best female video game characters in the gaming industry.
I think what they mean by predator is that Lara will turn into a killing machine with no remorse like the Lara we grew up with. I soo hope we’ll see her learn some acrobatics and Maybe at the end of the game she’ll start taking classes and martial arts training or maybe in this game she’ll learn all that

I feel that this series is more diving into the past of HOW she became the sexy, confident, dual pistol wielding, short-wearing badass woman that we know from when Tomb Raider was first introduced back all those years ago, and I am all for it. It's just a trailer, people are spoiled and need to be patient and have faith! People are so quick to be like "I want the old this!" "I wish they'd bring this back!" when they are, just in modern ways. Kind of like you get bored of the same meal for days on end, wouldn't you want some variety? I also get that this has a similar style of many other games on the market, so I understand in that aspect how it can seem re-hashed. But its a new story, and hopefully like ROTTR where they expanded upon elements from the first Tomb Raider of this series, they do the same and expand upon elements of gameplay in the previous one and introduce new elements in this game. I am so excited!

This game is driving me mental. I can't eat, I can't sleep! Honestly, though, I didn't expect this reboot to be as good as it was. I was expecting it to be ass, like most reboots are, but now i'm obsessed and this is the only game I actually look forward to this year. This year can be divided into before and after TR: SotTR.
I really do miss the climbing and puzzles though! I loved the ambience of being in lots of cool locations and architecture, spiritual vibes, puzzle solving and rock climbing through crazy areas.

Lara looks pretty much the same as she did in the previous two games. The only difference is that she doesn't seem to have any makeup on, which makes perfect sense. Realistically speaking, if she were actually running around, jumping, climbing, swimming, killing dudes, etc. I don't think having good-looking makeup on would be a big priority for her in those circumstances. Still doesn't explain the hair, though.
its a video game, made popular by the main character being a pretty girl in tight little shorts and a tank top.. why would we suddenly want a degree of reality that makes her look unattractive and without make up? its not like a girl of her stature (or anyone irl) could actually do half the stuff she does in game anyway.. dont try to talk about reality here, this aint no car simulator (which i actually enjoy - and of course DO have to be realistic)

Viktor Nytheheart when you loose weight your face looks flatter and your cheekbones are more edgy which makes your jawline come out sharper... And considering all the physical stuff she did, she definitely lost weight and gained muscles compared to the first game
Then again, the oilfield scene where she comes out of the water spearheads what might be the most badass 5 minutes in a video game (ever) before Lara finally starts to show some emotion. Such a dark moment and one that I may never actually forget. The dialogue is so poignant, there's just so much malice in her voice.. Ah, this game didn't deserve a moment like that.
I'd like to think that all of this adventures happens on Lara's head as she is locked up on a mental institution for the murder of her father. And Jonah being her doctor, reason why he appears on the three games as her side kick.
Would make sense when you consider, Lara goes through so much shit to find and get into a hidden city and when you finally make it, Jonah is magically waiting for you there XD

I agree it's the same with Spyro sure the old games will always be good but I loved the story of The Legend Of Spyro.

It's clear from the reboot series so far that they're exploring the mental development of Lara as she becomes horrifying proficient at killing from a fairly naive young woman with wanderlust. The first reboot showed her having strong feelings for people who were killed, that she was forced into killing to survive and save her friends. Even at the end of the reboot Matthias remarks about how many men Lara killed in her effort to survive, and he was just doing the same with Sam.
Rise of the Tomb Raider expanded upon this even as Lara becomes even better at killing. Her notes and thoughts reflected someone who was beginning to become unrecognizable to herself. She's pushing away her friends like Jonah. It's the old adage of the danger of fighting monsters is becoming one yourself.
I personally look forward to Lara dealing with herself looking way too much like Trinity and the Solarii. That's why the trailer focuses on her lethal aggressiveness, even to the point that the man she saves is more afraid of her than the man that was going to kill him. She drops the dagger in shock at what she's become.

Well said, they are making the journey of Lara a great one so far. I really love how she reacts differently to killing in the 2nd game. Also at the trailers for Rise, they even hinted that she needed therapy to cope with the mass killing she was forced to do to survive. Its a lot more realistic and I LOVE how they explore the mental state and how she becomes this expert ruin explorer from a simple history specialist. This series is so far amazing! Both story and mechanics.
Kilgar thank you. I agree that it is an excellent theme. It’s becoming more popular to examine what these life and death situations do to the psyche. Just like Wolfenstein 2, we see what killing does to the soul. Even killing obviously bad people has repercussions. With Lara, she’s doing the right thing, but what happens when you begin to relish it? Is seeking out truth worth the cost?
I am excited for this game. I hope Lara is able to avoid becoming a woman with a heart of stone, that the game answers these questions about Lara’s mental state.

I didn't play any of the Tomb raider games until 2023, and I just finished shadow. The first two games in the reboot took me a week or two to finish, but I finished shadow in a day. To me that just shows me that it was my favorite out of the trilogy. I absolutely loved this game

Everyone is complaining about her face but to me she looks older than the previous installments. Maybe this is suppose to be a couple of years after Rise of the Tomb Raider? Also I think she has been training she seems more muscular. I like this. I’ve seen comments saying that Lara isn’t about killing people as the primary source of her character that it is tombs which I agree but I also feel that it is still very much part of her character. So as long as finding a treasure or ancient artifact as the overall goal then the game will stay true to her as a character

This game had a ton of fun tombs, and I think the DLC (which you can get for very cheap when it goes on sale on Steam) had even cooler tombs. I think this game takes everything good from the previous installments and focuses a lot more on tombs and puzzles too, I loved it and have replayed it twice!

Oh No true to a point, but Lara was the epitome of how being a female in tough circumstances didn't mean you had to border on being masculine. With this it now feels like they wanted a male lead (Nathan Drake style) but ofcourse because Lara IS a female lead they wouldn't be able to change it. It's disappointing because she can be feminine but not overtly sexy and still be right for the setting in the game.

I just finished playing the game and it is a lot more puzzle and exploration based than this trailer makes it seem. In fact the trailer does not put the game to justice, it’s much different than this trailer makes it seem. Also if you’re so bothered by her new model and prefer the old one, there is an option when you change her clothes to change to an older model. It might be part of the extra stuff it gave me for playing the other two games though.

The sacrifice the masked figure was going to commit was going to give him supernatural abilities, and since Lara interupted and committed a kill just as the eclipse is happening; the power will transfer to her. This allows for the developers to transform this version of lara’s abilities to be reminiscent to her classic version’s. Which will expand into a new set of games. They did say this is the final chapter to her reboot :)

This new Tomb Raider games concept is new, unique, and very creative with evil cults, a dark horror themed feeling, in the jungles environment, chilling atmosphere, ancient tombs and spooky locations. It basically has a bit of everything in terms of versatility and the game play when Square Enix releases a sample of it, will be intriguing to watch how it functions. Also, the story is great and completely different from the last two games in the series. Definitely a game worth buying just based on the trailers alone. Passionate Tomb Raider fans will understand the meaning and significance of this game in terms of its concept to finishing the series with this one part three, Shadow of the Tomb Raider being the last game in the rebooted series. Hopefully it lives up to the expectations by concluding on a high with one of the best female video game characters in the gaming industry.

I feel that this series is more diving into the past of HOW she became the sexy, confident, dual pistol wielding, short-wearing badass woman that we know from when Tomb Raider was first introduced back all those years ago, and I am all for it. It's just a trailer, people are spoiled and need to be patient and have faith! People are so quick to be like "I want the old this!" "I wish they'd bring this back!" when they are, just in modern ways. Kind of like you get bored of the same meal for days on end, wouldn't you want some variety? I also get that this has a similar style of many other games on the market, so I understand in that aspect how it can seem re-hashed. But its a new story, and hopefully like ROTTR where they expanded upon elements from the first Tomb Raider of this series, they do the same and expand upon elements of gameplay in the previous one and introduce new elements in this game. I am so excited!

This game is driving me mental. I can't eat, I can't sleep! Honestly, though, I didn't expect this reboot to be as good as it was. I was expecting it to be ass, like most reboots are, but now i'm obsessed and this is the only game I actually look forward to this year. This year can be divided into before and after TR: SotTR.

I really do miss the climbing and puzzles though! I loved the ambience of being in lots of cool locations and architecture, spiritual vibes, puzzle solving and rock climbing through crazy areas.

I like how she's developed over the last two games. I hope this game takes it one step further and puts focus on how numb she's become to killing people. I mean ever since she washed up on the shore of Yamatai she's had to kill A LOT of baddies.

Attack On Titan-X she looks, different
Lara looks pretty much the same as she did in the previous two games. The only difference is that she doesn't seem to have any makeup on, which makes perfect sense. Realistically speaking, if she were actually running around, jumping, climbing, swimming, killing dudes, etc. I don't think having good-looking makeup on would be a big priority for her in those circumstances.
Still doesn't explain the hair, though.

Her cheek bones were definitely bigger in the second game and her chin wasn't as flat nor did she have a manly jawline in the first game xD
its a video game, made popular by the main character being a pretty girl in tight little shorts and a tank top.. why would we suddenly want a degree of reality that makes her look unattractive and without make up? its not like a girl of her stature (or anyone irl) could actually do half the stuff she does in game anyway.. dont try to talk about reality here, this aint no car simulator (which i actually enjoy - and of course DO have to be realistic)
and her face clearly looks like a different person to me, with worse facial animation etc from 2015 tech... and she looks younger, but in a prematurely aged way. its just all wrong.
Viktor Nytheheart when you loose weight your face looks flatter and your cheekbones are more edgy which makes your jawline come out sharper... And considering all the physical stuff she did, she definitely lost weight and gained muscles compared to the first game
Then again, the oilfield scene where she comes out of the water spearheads what might be the most badass 5 minutes in a video game (ever) before Lara finally starts to show some emotion. Such a dark moment and one that I may never actually forget. The dialogue is so poignant, there's just so much malice in her voice.. Ah, this game didn't deserve a moment like that.
I'd like to think that all of this adventures happens on Lara's head as she is locked up on a mental institution for the murder of her father.
And Jonah being her doctor, reason why he appears on the three games as her side kick.

Would make sense when you consider, Lara goes through so much shit to find and get into a hidden city and when you finally make it, Jonah is magically waiting for you there XD
