Like the game is telling them how to play (ie don't fight civilians, but not everyone on the street is a civilian), but games have changed so much that the cues remain indecipherable.

The mission impossible series is one (in my opinion) that keeps getting better. With the exceptions of 2 and 3, the movies had an overall improvement in quality. 4 onwards it took on a really fun, quirky approach (in addition to being action-packed) and this was just boosted in 5, which is probably my favorite I hope fallout continues this trend, and proves to be better than the rest (especially excited for Henry Cavill as a villain)
For me MI:2 was the worst in the series. Everything in that film was just exaggerated. Also Dougray Scott was suppose to play Wolverine but couldn't since he had to go back for re-shoots.
I can’t find ONE character (besides the bastardized Jim Phelps) from ANY of the movies, that’s from EITHER Mission Impossible series!! That is one of the craziest adaptation ideas from TV/comic/book/video game to movie, that I have ever heard of. [][Ridiculously bad sentence structure incoming!!!][] You make a big Hollywood movie based on a successful team-based TV series, you create a new character that becomes the primary focus instead of the team, you create all new team members, kill them all, then loosely shuffle in more new team members throughout the series, then to top it all off, you take the original team leader from BOTH TV series, and you make him a bad guy / traitor !!! I absolutely love the movies, but that has to be the biggest slap in the face to the source materials, original stars, & original fans, that I’ve ever heard of. I know there’ve been loads of batshit adaptations over the years, but the scale of the indignity done to both MI: TV Series really puts it on top for me. Ha! and the results were GREAT! ...’cept for MI:2. That is adaptation history, right there. I love it.
I believe I remember hearing a factoid while watching Game Grumps that Tom Cruise NEVER allows his likeness to appear in a video game of a movie he's played in. Which explains the mess of random characters.
Incoming useless trivia for nerds like myself: I know I'm a little late to the party, but for the record, this game is based on the late '80's "New Mission: Impossible" syndicated tv series which was sort of like "Mission: Impossible - The Next Generation." Ironic that it was also a Paramount production. (This was one of several Paramount shows from the late '80's, which included ST:TNG, War of the Worlds, and Friday the 13th: The Series. It wasn't all that great and didn't last very long, but it happened. Peter Graves was back as Phelps and I believe one of the characters was his son or something.)
Wildly, unwatchably frustrating to see them read the fucking solution to the problem out loud and not make the connection that the little dudes not attacking them are the civilians, and therefore they shouldn’t be attacked.
