Thank you for the real talk. It's nice to find a makeup artist who will say how it is instead of simply going all 'this is sooooo easy, seeee?' This is what motivates me to keep trying.

You are so sweet for taking time to go through the eye shadow application. I haven't worn eyeshadow in years. I got an eyeshadow palette last week. I have been worried about my first attempts at it with "older eyes". And, wondering how to use the different brushes. I am saving this video to help me. The biggest gift you gave me was saying its ok to make mistakes and putting yourself in my shoes so to speak. Now, I am ready to have fun and play. Thank you, sweetie.

I am 63 and just happened to watch your video because I was looking for something to help update my “more senior look.” Even though I’m not a beginner, I have to say I was impressed with the video, your style and Grace. You have a presence that’s needed in this world, especially for impressionable women looking for a role model. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re good at what you do but you have a light that shines brighter than any makeup ever could.

This is a fantastic video. I've watched you for years, and I've picked up on most of these tips, but I really appreciate this all in one video. I've learned so much from you. I've so enjoyed wearing makeup for 43 years, and it's very fun to watch your simple ideas that can look just the right amount of "dramatic".

Way more careful than I worry about personally, and I don't have issues with creasing or blending, despite oily skin and heavily hooded eyes. But I love seeing what others are doing and learning from what they have to say. I also really love your spirit. I love that even when you keep your channel fairly spiritually benign, the Spirit shines through. Be blessed!

Dear Zabrena, I heard you saying that you mastered the outer V five years ago. That's not true! Since I'm watching your videos for more than 7 years now (and I'm in the makeup world for more than 2/3 of my life) I have to say that I always believed that your blending skills are amazing. You 're a natural, girl! Also I'm so happy to watch a "how to" video from you again. Utterly delightful!

The best tip to learning how to apply eyeshadow is knowing your eye shape. I did not know what hooded eyes were and did not know I have hooded eyes. I hated applying eyeshadow because it never showed so I gave up till recently. Now makes life so much easier

I just love you. You're beautiful both inside and out. I think I'm an old woman that has been stalking all your tutorials. I just can't thank you enough. I have learned so, so much from you! My health has been declining horribly for the past few years and I just looked terrible. Started buying makeup, per your tips and others as well, and cut my hair off thinking if I looked better, maybe I would feel better. Again, I just cannot thank you enough and I am a follower of Christ and so love your joy!!! By the way, I found the IT #5 brush on Ebay for $14.99 and bought two, if you or anyone is looking for it. God Bless you and yours!

@@Zabrena 💖You have been helpful to me from the very first video I found, several years ago. It's especially good right now to have your ongoing contributions that make even this strange era feel something like normal.
I thought I'd submit a video request here. Would you consider a series of "shop my stash" type videos, where you focus on a full face of makeup with your favorite high-end / drugstore dupes?
Some of us are not so much concerned with the latest new products, but trying to find motivation to use the great items we own. Thanks Zabrena 🤗

I just found your station today, and I’m so happy I did. I find you packed a lot of information into your video at a reasonably slow time period ( i a fair fair bit older and methods have changed so much, for example we used to start our eyes with o neutral shade all over and then use either black, dark grey or various shades of brown in the crease, then use a coloured pencil inside the bottom lid (blue if your eyes were blue, green if your eyes were green, I can’t remember what colour for brown eyes etc etc) then mascara tops & bottoms & done. I will be watching your video over & over until I get your method. Thanks & I’ll be watching your new videos

It is a goal of mine to be able to do professional looking make up on myself. THANK YOU!! For stating about doing your eyes first!! I have Always done my eyes First since I started wearing eyeshadow 40 years ago! I don't know how people do their eyes last! I really enjoyed your tutorial because you also talk about"hooded eyes". I had blepharoplasty done on mine due to vision problems but I still have some loose skin hanging towards my outer eyes. I was going to question my doctor about it when I go in for my checkup but I don't want to complain.....I'm so thankful I can see "any" of my eyelids. Btw I love your hair color!! The whole orbital bone thing, not only have I never heard it before, BUUUT, it really helped get the idea to click in my head like never before! Thank you! I have the hardest time with the putter v area because I have dow turned, dopey eyes, which depending on placement, can REALLLLLLLY enhance the the droop look instead of giving a lift effect. I can see that you also start the V further up, rather than bringing it to the end of your eye line, if that makes sense, lol. It’s hard to learn though when you’re learning from those who don’t have downturned eyes because they all bring the color to the end of the eye line, as it works for them because their eyes don’t turn downward. It’s been soo helpful watching your videos!! I’m also very fair too, so your suggestions for bronzer etc are bomb too!
Orbital bone…who would have thought that’s what I needed to hear to finally get it to click!! 😆💕

I love watching these videos I didn't have a sister or my mom never taught me about makeup so this helps. I do alright for teaching myself! There's a few things I would love to learn but I don't know if a video will help. Thanks for sharing! God bless

Thanks so much! I have blue eyes just like yours, I always go for the neutral shades the make my eyes pop! I am going to try your technique and I need to practice the blending step I am not yet there. Thanks!

My goodness! Who knew! Great tutorial today!
I’ve learned a Lot: everything from the moisturization, setting & preparing, plus techniques! How to open up the eye, lift, layering, blending etc Highlighting is something I’ve wondered about. So, thank you!

Great video, loved your look. I’m ancient and just learning for fun but much harder when you are no longer young. You are a beautiful woman naturally but with makeup you are stunning. Thanks for all the tips, I’ll see where it takes me.

Thanks for the tips and brush recommendations! I just ordered the AOA set to round out the few staple brushes I already had. I also ordered eye primer and a nude shadow to set it lol. I didn’t have much enthusiasm for eyeshadow primer in the past, but I’m hoping with these tricks I will have a better experience this time around. My biggest issue has been keeping the crease/outer V area looking more airbrushed and less muddy. Definitely trying the small circular motions, because I’ve been doing more of the windshield wiper motion in the crease.

    Great video!
I taught myself to put on my makeup in 8th grade. All I had to work with was the sponge tip applicators. And I would take a dark shade, a medium shade and a light shade. I favored purple or brown looks. I always put put the darkest on the lid, and the medium in the crease and the lightest on the brow. (Bottom, middle, top) and then lined the eyes and always curl the lashes and use mascara and use a lash comb to separate and fluff the lashes. I always got compliments on my makeup. 😊

Excellent tutorial. I applied your techniques and they really helped me. I'm in my 40's and things are beginning to wrinkle and droop. Your advise helped my eyes looked polished. Much appreciated 👍

This is a very helpful video. I am trying to learn how to apply eyeshadow, have it look good. I don’t know why but I never attempted until the past couple years. I can’t manage more than two shades. I hope I get better.

Hello from Australia 🇦🇺 and Thank you so much for this video. It helped me realise one of the biggest mistakes (amoungst the many). I have been making is my brush size.
All of my brushes are way too small!! I have always wondered what the big brushes were meant for 🧐 and now I know I can’t wait to give your tutorial a go.
