    Thanks. Swapped my thermal paste to i7-4800MQ with these instructions in my zbookg2. Got 19% faster results in cinebench. I used CG-extreme paste. That however did not solve my black screen (log off problem) why I mainly did it. It just logs off during things without any reason...

    Cool video! I have the same laptop and I upgraded the gpu, i love this laptop cause it lets you do that, I got a gtx 960m 4gb gddr5. The performance is awesome, I still keep the quadro k1100m, in case something happens.

      Zbooks are pretty well build, still not too hard to service.

      Hey, I want to do a similar upgrade. How much did that GTX 960M cost? Also, what CPU do you have on your Z?
      I was looking at the Quadro M1200 or M2200 but prices are ridiculous right now. Might settle for an M2000M which is a bit older but still has 4GB of GDDR5. Should be a nice upgrade from my puny K610.

      @tbladee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YeOldeKamikaze An upgrade should be nice first of all make sure you can upgrade the gpu, I paid 120 bucks used, on ebay, i reccomend a m2000, but even a gtx 850 or 950 is super fine.

      @@tbladee That's a great deal! I guess I can upgrade my GPU, considering it's an MXM module. I'm not too sure about manufacturer variants and VBIOSes but eh, I'll have to find out by experimenting haha. All I know is upgrading to Pascal cards (GTX 10 or Quadro P series) is a no-go, something to do with the laptop not reading temperatures correctly and running fans at 100% all the time. Upgrading to the best officially supported model, the K2100m, doesn't seem worth the cost and effort.
      Algo, nice CPU you got there. I'd like to upgrade mine to a 4930MX but they're too expensive!

    Awesome video man 👍🏼
    It's 2024, and I just got this laptop, and it's been absolutely amazing (so far)
    My only issue with it is the battery life... For starters, it says "Battery 1: Not present", which i think is a potential issue, and would really love pointers on how to fix that.
    Whilst the Battery 2 gives about 2 hours while on battery saver, I think there's a lot more juice for it go potentially give out...
    Please, a response to this dilemma would be amazing🙏🏼

    Nice! I have a Zbook 15 G1 and it's been a reliable workhorse to date. Too bad the seller was less than perfectly honest, having advertised a quad-core model and eventually shipped a dual-core model. Still, it's been a joy to use and upgrade over the years.
    BTW: can I buy that fingerprint scanner from you? What about that webcam? I want them, mine came with blanking plastics instead :(

      Zbooks are solid laptops. Very well build. I don't have any parts left for it. Video was filmed like 3 month ago. Sorry.

      Can the g1 still run complex tasks?

    • @YeOldeKamikaze
      @YeOldeKamikaze 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eisviech9984 Depends on your definition of "complex". Software development? Yes. SysAdmin stuff? Yes. Dealing with VMs? Yes (avoid the i7-4700MQ though). Emulating consoles? Kinda, yes, I've run PS2 and Xbox emulators on mine, and they run OK even though mine is on the weaker side of configurations with an i7-4600M and a Quadro K610m.
      Engineering and scientific tasks will require the better specced configurations and perhaps some unofficial upgrades.
      Crypto mining? Nah, it's too inefficient. Neural network training? I doubt it. Heavy gaming? Nope, it can't run anything newer than Maxwell GPUs.

    Which M2 SSD card is suitable for HP Zbook 15 g2? I am currently using SATA SSD because I tried many M.2 cards but It does not appear inside. Also, my laptop heats so much any suggestions regarding overheating?

    In my country the zbook g2 with an i7 4710mq and 16 gigs of ram costs about 400€. Is it a good price and will it be fine for my electronics engineering needs. I am a student and dont have much money.

    • @YeOldeKamikaze
      @YeOldeKamikaze 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a nice deal, considering it's a quad-core model which can be upgraded all the way to 32GBs of RAM.
      *PSA:* If you ever intend to do GPU pass-through to Windows guest VMs from a Linux host, stay away from the Core i7-47XXMQ series, they don't support VT-d, even though the Core i7-4600M does.
