    Mariam may have died from hitting her head to the ground when Layan pushed her. She was accused by her mom, her schoolmates and even the principal. Worst was when Layan distributed the copy of her journal about her mental health and everyone made fun of that. What she did to Layan was just to give her a taste of her own medicine and exposed her wrongdoings. Whatever happened to Layan (death) was never her fault and Mariam on not regretting on what happen to Layan reflects also on them not regretting on what happen to her.

    • @mayra4639
      @mayra4639 2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Hard disagree. While what they did to Mariam was obviously very wrong, your argument can be countered by what Mariam herself did to the bullies. For example: Mariam may have died from hitting her head to the ground when Layan pushed her, Layan died because of Mariams actions so what's worse almost being killed or being killed. Another one: the acussations and the humiliation Mariam went through, I'm not one to compare trauma but I might have to make an exception considering you are justifying Mariams actions, the whole first bullie (hijab bullie) revenge, she was not only hated massively ONLINE but her own family accused her of bringing shame to them, sounds familiar, right? Plus, posting a picture of a girl without her hijabi is extremely dangerous for the girl, she got a lot of hate bcs of it and the family had to suffer too. The spread of Mariam diary: I agree that this was super bad and I don't think she deserved it at all but she had already done lots of bad thing to the girls (like ruining first bullies life). Bonus: When Mariam caused Raias father to hit her she didn't feel much sympathy if any at all and compare the damage she had to the damage Raia had received but she has already done two revenges by now so she had damage both girls physically and emotionally.

    Tbh, in my opinion... The grown-ups is at fault here, the response of mariam's mother when she's being accused, the response of the teachers, the way the parents of the 3 bully cause when you're being bullied in your own home you go out and bully others like how you're being bullied... It's true that they need to own up to their actions and I feel really truly mad when they bully other people but they're STILL kids and need guidance but as I see in the movie the grown-ups don't really provide it, I don't think they even realize they need to guide the students 🤦🏻‍♀️ I feel sad that mariam's personality change but that just shows how all the bullying and trauma she faced impacted her mentally

    I completely understand mariams pain. It's almost as if everyone forgot, the way noaf and dina went and told rania as if she's just a normal friend, i was shocked how they were just so casually normal with them. Even at one point I was kind of liking layan for helping noaf at the pool and was getting annoyed at mariam for hiding secret plans all the time. I guess only the victim truly understands the scars and how much it truly affects them, mariam truly deserved that revenge, that bullying was ruthless.

      Both Noaf and Dina can go fuck themselves for not remaining loyal to Mariam. They're not her true friends after they chose to cower away and to sell Mariam out to Rania. But at least Mariam didn't allow the 3 of them to keep her from sending the text message to Layan's brother. She stood her ground and said "Never again."

      @@꽃.디아 It's not just because I think that Noaf and Dina are huge pushovers for turning on Mariam. It's also because Noaf and Dina are stupid enough to forget what the bullies had to them as well. After the bullies ruined Mariam's life, they certainly humiliated Dina by putting fake blood on her backside and she got cruelly laughed at. Then the bullies went after Noaf's younger sister by taking away her asthma breathing tube. Noaf had to come in and to tell them to back off before the breathing tube was given back. Noaf's sister could have ended up in the hospital or worse. She could have ended up dead. After what Dina and Noaf went through, I never ever expected them to change their minds. Never excepted them to become disloyal towards Mariam. I was so glad that Mariam told them off by calling them hypocrites.

Layan’s brother, her father, her mother and her teachers failed to protect her and the other students (including mariam) It’s crazy how they are getting away with it so easily. There are so many women who get killed by their OWN blood because of “bringing shame to the family” it’s sad and pathetic.

      No, honour killings are very common in Arabic countries, so Mariam must have known the danger to a certain extent. Like with the other bully with the hijab. Mariam's actions could have lead to her death too. Bc 80% of the killed women in these countries didn't do anything wrong, their families just suspected it, and that's good enough a reason to kill them. So Mariam is totally at fault here!

    I've seen many comments saying that taking pictures of a woman without her scarf is dangerous is exactly the problem from what this religion brings us. Let me express my thoughts:
    For decidedly almost killing a girl, accused of sexual harassment, hated by your own family because of that damn honour, chastised and trivialised by your own mother because she believed in some strangers rather than her own daughter with a cast around her neck as she continued to victim blame her, persuaded her not to move from school (which probably could've ended her suffering there) and take vengeance but in the end got betrayed by her own friends because that thing did something good for once and had an evil violent brother that wouldve done something that is "much worse" than Mariam went through (BS!), harassed and traumatised in the bathroom stall by every single student because they were empowered by that thing again and again until it mentally damaged her.
    Almost every single abuse Mariam went through damaged her for life and possibly could've taken her own life, which could've charged Layal and her gangs for bullying, assault and murder/manslaughter. But of course, I can imagine they could've gotten away with it because everyone seems to take that thing's side regardless, so no justice would've been served and she would have gotten away with it.
    All of that permanently damaged Mariam, but all you could think of was... a stupid towel scarf?
    Idk what kinda world you live in, but you *DO NOT* choose religion over anything else. If so, you're a sick mental individual with a lack of empathy, you have a toxic mindset because of the environment you live in, just like in the series. You're a part of the problem, not the solution.
    My God you're dysfunctional for life. You can't even have some sense of empathy for that poor girl. Idgaf if you did, the fact you would choose religion over this mess is sick and beyond belief. Disgusting disgusting.
    Aside from that, Layal had that coming. This would never have happened if that thing and it's gangs didn't choose violence over kindness and weren't such a terrible human beings, destroying lives for fame and power and such. And idgaf if they live in a terrible environment or what they've been through. Of course it's sad and you can feel sorry for them especially from their side of the story, but that's not an excuse to be a bully as I expect to be treated with the same human decency as you want to be treated.

    I'm not going to easily believe that Layan is dead in this scene. Her vicious brother might have decided to pull the trigger on her boyfriend instead. Only Season 2 will give us the answers. Even if Layan turns out to be dead, I still have no sympathy for her. Not after she deliberately nearly killed Mariam and had ruined her life. She has no remorse and no regret for what she did. So I'm on Mariam's side entirely despite that her actions against her bullies are scary. My only hope for Season 2 is that I hope that they haven't chosen to mess up Mariam's character big time. I DO NOT want her to become the new bully in school. It just doesn't suit her. What does suit her is for her to remain vigilant and to make sure that no other poor girls get picked on. I also hope that if Mariam's mother refuses to make amendments, Mariam is going to have to find a way to get away from her after she graduates. She'll have to disown her. If Mariam's mother were my mother who's disbelieved me and failed me after getting jumped by my bullies, I'd never ever forgive her for that. All because she damaged Mariam a million times worse than the bullies ever did.

      @TheLatiosnlatias02 I agree with you. As for the principal Faten, she's a real mega piece of shit. She knew that poor Miriam was being bullied by Layan, Rania, and Ruqayya. She knew that she could have punished the bullies for what they did. But she didn't choose to do the right thing. Since Faten is just as bad as the bullies, Miriam added her onto her target list. Miriam made a clever plan to get Faten fired. In the end, Miriam succeeded.

      It's kind of ambiguous whether or not Mariam knew what would happen. Personally I think she suspected something like this would happen but didn't care.

    I don't think Layan actually died, in fact I think that it was either her brother or her boyfriend. I mostly think that it's the boyfriend due to the fact that at the end of the show they cut to a framed picture of him with the Principal, so he's likely her (now deceased) son. Also at the end when Miriam is walking through the hallway I'm pretty sure she ends up confronting somebody (who is likely Layan) but we can't see who due to the perspective.

    God I just finished this and I’m so chocked .. like I dont even know how to explain what I’m feeling now. Maryam was right from the beginning till now . She was just a kind school girl that was minding her business. She was never a bad person . But these 3 bullies changed her . I don’t know if we all understood it the same way but what they did to her was mentally brutal, they accused her of sexual agression in the washroom, then they beat her almost to death sending her to hospital , as it was not enough the whole class lied and humiliated her in front of every teacher ? In front of her parents. Her parents mother didn’t support her , her teacher lied and didn’t protect her . She was the innocent one but was the was they suspended for 2 weeks. That was how they broke her mentally. She started seeing a psy and again layan stole her personal diaries and humiliated her in front of everyone . Honestly so many girls would have commit suicide after that moment. It was just a series but I literally cried the moments all the girls were laughing at her in the washroom , I’m sorry but that was the cruel things to do to a teenager or to everyone. That was too much . But even after that she resigned and wanted to give up and just change school. Her two friends are at faults im sorry they get her to continue and left her alone at the end..
    For Layan death , if she really died that’s not Maryam fault her brother is crazy and a psycho he is the only responsible of her death. Even if Maryam didn’t sent the adress he will still be mad at her because the teacher already told them that she skipped classes .. so I’m sad for her but I will never side a bully . And maybe if Maryam let her she would have bully others girls that maybe would have end their lives ..

    RANT: People are absolutely disgusting and immature. I agree Layan was a bully and there is NO excuse for it. But things are not black and white. You guys have no idea the psychological abuse some/if not all/ women go through in cultures like those in patriarchal societies. Its ruins you and any sense of power a woman should have to be herself. But even more so, the way people dont do anything to help victims. The school and the parents are the real enemies that you guys fail to acknowledge. You guys are sick to put all the blame on a seventeen year old and to laugh at her death.
    The school did NOTHING to help Mariam after all she went through. The school hardly helped her with her mental health. Her parents did nothing. A real parent would have taken Mariam out of school immediately. The grown ups failed Mariam and that's extremely sad. She is a victim. And watching those scenes especially when her journal is leaked was heartbreaking.
    HOWEVER, that does NOT justify murder. This revenge thing is in my opinion a patriarchal thing. "Men" go on and on about revenge and honour. They are the ones who will blindly get after what they want. A real solution would not go down to the bullies levels. But they were school girls, Mariam was a school girl so I dont blame her. AGAIN that does NOT EXUCSE what she did.
    I am from Lebanon and I know first hand what it's like when it comes to the dating scenes and whatever. And mind you Lebanon is more lenient than jordan. So if I've seen a girl get in major trouble for simply talking to a guy, and another girl getting beat up. And for a girl to have her sexual abuse completely ignored and hushed up by the SCHOOL. I think I know how insane issues like this are. and there comes a lot of psychological damage and abuse (not just physical). Layan was Most likely psychologically abused because that's what happens when you a woman (or any person) is controlled by others in a society where you're forced to simply accept your role. It's sad. And Layan needed therapy to access her pain that shes internalized instead of lashing out and hurting others.
    AGAIN, I am not excusing her. But there are nuances to each characterr. even rania whose father seemed abusive as well.
    All I am saying is that you guys are victim blaming because you are completely dismissing the psychological and real abuse the bullies also went through from the people they called family. Does it excuse their bullying? NOOO WAY. but that's what happens in life. Trauma and abuse breeds more trauma and abuse. and the fact everyone's enjoying the fact Layan could have been killed or traumatised by someone's death is disgusting. You guys are NOT feminists... let alone decent human beings who can comprehend people are complex. You all REEK OF PRIVILEGE. The privilege of freedom. The privilege of not having mental health issues that ruin you. Because that's another thing. Mental health issues change you as a person and in some cases you become the "bad" person. So why do we forgive Mariam for hurting others because of her abuse and nor forgive Layan for hurting others because of her abuse?
    Maybe there should NOT be forgiveness on either part and instead acknowledge where the main problem is and finding a solution for these people. So they can be better genuinely and so they wont hurt others.

      We don't really know if she died or not. We don't actually see her get shot, or if anyone got shot at all. One of the biggest rules in cinema is that a character is not considered dead unless their body is shown or if it is confirmed by another character in said show or movie. Since it wasn't shown we don't know for sure.

    • @justmazen3168
      @justmazen3168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @TheDonutPrincess there is so many hints that point to the boyfriend getting shot, 1- the shot of him and layan, if layan was the one getting killed they would show a flashback of her alone or with her friends 2- the photo at the end when it shows him being the son of the headmistress, kinda self explanatory and its the most obvious one, 3- her character arc is not over yet, if he dies its a pretty good opportunity for her to take more responsibility for her actions and reflect on what she did to all the girls she bullied 4- at the end, Mariam is smiling, she isnt a psychopath to smile when she just killed someone, so that leads me to believe that scene was DURING the scene of the shot so she still doesn't know what happened to her

    • @mariamtheloml
      @mariamtheloml 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't think Layan died because she's confirmed to be in season 2 and is listed high on the list as last time. Also, Laith isn't like Ahmed, he cared about Layan big time so I wouldn't be surprised if he jumped in front of her to save him. Although, Hazem could've also killed himself. If Layan died, there probably wouldn't be a season 2 so it's safe to assume she's alive due to her presence being confirmed in the next season. No one may have died, but there was also a bit of foreshadowing on Laith's part. The picture of him in the principal's room as he was her son and her crying after looking at it could point to her receiving news of him dying, but she could also be upset at the school. But once again it's safe to assume Layan is alive.

      Layan can have a change of heart but she has to learn she can't treat people the way she has. Yes I agree her family are the cause of the way she is bullying but she has to learn she can't do that to people making them miserable just because she's miserable with her life. I agree her brothers and father shouldn't be controlling her life for her. But I do think she can have a change of heart.

Although, Layan's actress is confirmed to be in season 2 and her name is still high on the list (I have no idea if it's for flashbacks or what not). The high school girls could be grieving about school potentially being shut down as well as a huge show down happened which could cause people to be worried. If someone died, it had to be Laith. When the principal looked at the photo on her desk and saw Laith (the flash which led to her seeing him) she started crying which COULD be due to Laith dying.

    Series started in a mood like the bullied girl was gonna take revenge and the mean girls are gonna be the losers of school and she's gonna be the new mean girl and it would be so fun to watch if she turned out to be the popular girl but not a mean girl, just the queen bee who is loved by everyone.
    But it turned out that she literally went insane and so unhinged that she could even ignore somebody's life risk, even if it's your bully. I think this is the part I grew apart from her point of view. I supported the girl who was bullied til the end but idk. She chose violence and lost all her innocence. If I was her, I would take revenge and move on. I would never want my bully to physically get hurt. Even if they were violent towards me. This is wildd

    Layan may have been a bully but she did not deserve that Rania and Ruquyaa too, I get what they did was horrible but what Mariam did was no better.
    At first, I was all on Mariam's side because she was a victim of the bullying obviously but then Ruquyaa's mom started saying all that stuff about her I started feeling bad. But then Layan stole her diary and spread the pages around so I was all like oh never mind they totally deserve what's gonna happen to them.
    On the field in the spa scene when that old man was creeping on Noaf Layan saved her, so then I started thinking again about maybe they don't really deserve it because she did save her (and invited her to hang out with her and Raina at the club to get her mind off it).
    A week after the field Rania came back with her face bruised from her father hitting her, Mariam says something along the lines of in her head that she feels a little bad for Rania but her bruises will heal but hers won't. I understand that but Rania was hit by her clearly abusive drunk dad, her bruises may heal on the outside but not on the inside.
    Also Ruquyaa we learn a little bit about what her family is like. After she gets upset that her mom wouldn't Rania and Layan talk to her and all that her mom starts talking about how she ruined not only her reputation but her sister's too and adds about how she wasn't as pretty as them. When I heard it I was really pissed off because how could somebody say that to someone especially a parent to their own child.
    Now Layan after saving and trying to cheer up Noaf I started seeing a different side to her and was hoping she and the girls could own up to their mistakes and become better people. But Mariam was you know doing her plan and told Hazem who probably killed Layan as an honor kill. I was really hoping she didn't die but now learning it was an honor kill I doubt it.
    So then I decided to look at some videos of the show and see what people think of it, and I see people saying that Layan deserved to die and were happy with what Mariam did. Like I don't understand how people can say that about somebody, yes she and the girls bullied somebody but how can you be happy that a teenage girl was killed by her brother as an honor kill and say stuff like "Oh she got coming she was a bitch Mariam did nothing wrong". Mariam may have not been the one who killed her but she's still partly to blame in my opinion, I bet she knew that Layan might've been killed now thinking about it.
    Now Noaf and Dina may have encouraged her to stick to the plan but at least they realized what they were doing was wrong and stopped, but Mariam didn't and they tried to make her stop and I understand she was hurt when they started hanging out with Rania and Layan but still.
    Honestly, I feel like the show meant to have all the girls be at fault because they all did bad things. I don't really know much because I'm not from Jordan or any middle eastern country but it seems like the woman in the countries suffer a lot, especially the teenagers and it's heartbreaking that this happens to them. Like I said before it just gets on my nerves that people are saying the girls deserve it when they clearly don't, they're also victims in this. It makes me wonder if this actually happened in real life would people actually side with Mariam still even after finding out how she got revenge and how it affected them.
    So there you have it in the end I'm on nobody's side I think they're all in the wrong because they all made the situation worse but there are also victims at the same time. I just hope people will see this and other comments understand what I'm trying to say about the whole situation.

Not to mention that Layan fausley accused Mariam of sexually harassing her which is beyond messed up. That is a VERY serious accusation to make and that could've caused Mariam to either go to jail or even get executed when she didn't even do anything like that. Either way because of this crazy accusation it caused all of Mariam's family members and everybody else in the school to turn against her and think she's a total creep when she's not. It was a defamation of character and Layan could get in REAL big trouble for that if she wasn't a spoiled rich girl with a psychotic wealthy father. It's also not fair to ACTUAL victims of sexual abuse who are afraid to speak out due to trauma. So really the death of Layan was a case of ironic justice because she did the exact same thing to Mariam and brought this entire ordeal onto herself. It is NOT Mariam's fault that Layan had a stupid psychotic joke of a big brother. And how the hell was she even supposed to know that in the first place?!?!?! All Mariam did was exposed those 3 girls dark secrets into the world and what happens next for them is completely their problems now not Mariam's. What those 3 girls did to Mariam and possibly any other girl they've bullied in that school we're far more worse than what Mariam did to them. So yes pal this IS a "Fair" ending point, blank, period. She ONLY took her revenge on the one's that tormented her so that they won't be able to hurt her or any other innocent girl in the school ever again. That's all. All Mariam got was her revenge but she was left friendless and a really nasty person who doesn't show pity to anyone and has no regrets. Even when Noaf almost got caught she didn't feel any regret. Her friends had sense to stop and then they began to see the bullies beginning to become better people. She also practically murdered Layan because she told her brother where she was even though Raina (a bully) promised not to bully anyone again and her friends begged her not to. Even thought Layan broke their culture and grace didn’t mean that he had to kill her, that was too much
