I remember this invention to what we did when I'm in college AI, we also used pvc pipe for our thesis project but not metal detection but for just obstacle. We called it smartcane for visually impaired people.

You can make a lot of people happy by producing detectors and selling them in reasonable price, I would love to buy one for myself as I'm not skilled enough to make it for my own.

That was interesting but i have a question wouldn't it react to the metal inside rocks because some might have some metal inside or it would react to a certain amount.. and the number on the screen will change depending on the metal or the quantity and depth or it doesn't matter
