Philippines national hero Dr Jose Rizal practiced and instructed Arnis during his exile in Dapitan in the late 1800’s. His Arnis training area has been preserved and is located near the beach amphipheatre just past Mi Retiro rock at the Rizal Memorial in Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines.

This is just my analysis on some blocking positionings:
When the strikes to block is at shoulder level and up to the temple points its my suggestion to use the 12th blocking position (adjusted), where Hand holding the stick is higher than the body of the stick.
As the striking stick might slid down to the hand with the stick that may cause disarming.
If we use and adjust the 12th blocking position to use for temple, shoulder. Blocks we are blocking safe and loosing the momentum of the strike.

Hello po, good day, thank you so much for appreciating our video,
We made this video from the standard curriculum of arnis, I liked your suggestions po,
      For blockings,
It shows first the contact of strike and blocks followed by the left hand for the supports of impact.

I'm still a student but some hand position in this video is useless. I appreciate your video to teach some students using this video, it looks cool for the tutorial but try add some defense for left hand probably without these hand position it's pretty useless against real opponent. In basic block why it should be on stick the opponent will have some opportunities to counter the block, I guess the 12 basic block is pretty useless, it's just a suggestion. I don't want to offend, Don't add some cool hand position add a useful hand position it's much cool when it takes on real battle.

    • @MATTISanJuanOfficial
      @MATTISanJuanOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you for your comment and suggestions,🥰🥰
To propagate Arnis and become to National sports and Martial Arts, we should have a basic strikes and blocks, Prof. Remy Presas started the basic of Arnis in Schools and those are accepted by general public. Many styles has their own teaching systems of basics.
The left hand is not useless in a block
      - block then counter strike
      - block then catch the stick
      - block then catch the hand
      Etc...
But we should teach the students the very basic, with no extra movements, to easily understand the movements of strikes and blocks.
In reality they will act on their own muscle reflexes. 🥰🥰
