I went to High School in the 70’s and no girls were triggered by this song. It rocked and we loved it because it celebrated our curves! We viewed the world as Champions (pun intended) not victims.
Wasn't it on the original greatest hits album? I'm probably wrong, because I'm thinking back about thirty years, and I don't quite trust my memory, going that far back.
It’s not coming out of their Greatest Hits, that was a fake culture wars story. There is a new streaming service starting that’s aimed at toddlers and pre-teens. Any slightly risky song from any band is being kept off the service, including this. That’s all that’s happening
As one of the fat bottomed girls in the world, I’m more offended they wanna cancel this than by the song. There’s soooo many worse songs out there! (WAP comes to mind immediately)
Freddie never came out. He lived how he wanted to live and f**k people who didn't like it. Back then we did not put labels on everything. Everybody knew that Freddie was Bi but no one cared and no one asked. It was a personal thing and not of our concern. He made amazing music and that was all we cared about. People back then were not that obsessed with the private life of actors/musicians etc simply because we did not have access to too much informations. There were the occasional magazine reports when a new album was on the way or a tour was announced, that was it. When Queen lived in Munich, everyody knew that Freddie frequented the gay bars in the city and we knew where to find him if we wanted to, but we didn't look out for him. Celebrities have a right to a private life as we do and we respected that.
Agreed. This song can never be cancelled! When I was in high school, our bus driver used to play the radio on the way to, and home, from school. Each day, in one direction, he’d play WDVE, the rock station, and on the other direction he’d play WAMO, the urban station. Queen was one of the few bands you’d hear played on both. And I’ll tell you this; anytime Fat Bottomed Girls came on, as many girls as dudes knew the lyrics and sang along. It’s too perfect a song. That opening harmony, the drums and bass kickin’ it, and Freddie, of course, being Freddie. ‘Heap big woman, you made a bad boy out of me.’ So yeah, we’d get home and get on our bikes and ride! Loved your reaction! Made my day! 😎
Radicals look for anything to demonize. It is our way today just as claiming Cancel was the other side... and low and behold our side has plenty now too. Look what was done to BARBIE.... yet it did not work cause of who still does barbies and their mothers... They said it made females dominant and males de-masculine.... not to mention nations who ban being gay said it was portraying men as gay.... HERE WE HAVE A GAY MALE.. who today would probably NOT be glorified by half of America who many now are saying SURE GLORIFY HIM. Queen was great.... yet can you imagine the QUEEN VIDEO of - "I WANT TO BREAK FREE" All are in DRAG.... GUESS WHAT... SOME WOULD CRY CANCEL and a WHO SIDE OF A PARTY WOULD JOIN IN. This song was in question of - "Fat Bottom Girls" was left of a new Greatest Hits album. YET FOR POLITICAL GAIN IT IS BEING TARGETED. THE SAD STATE OF POLITICS AND ITS TOXIC STATE of EXTREMISM even for a President to get in to Suspend the Constitution to Fire 10s of thousands of Fed workers and HIRE ONLY THOSE OF HIS PARTY... This is all kinds of things George Washington WARNED US in his FAREWELL Address to Congress... that new members have read among other things.
I've had enough of this cancel culture who are determined to eek every bit of enjoyment out of life they can. FBG is a celebration of the fuller figured lady, there's absolutely nothing bad or wrong about that!
Yes, Brian May did write it, and I read he wrote it FOR Freddie. I also agree that I don't think Freddie realized how talented he was. How could he think he wasn't a very good piano player?
Freddy actually knew exactly how good he was. Watch some of the videos here that had Freddy in them. I literally spent all day yesterday watching every one I could find. Yep, he knew. Lol
As others have said I lived through this when it 1st came out and the "Fat bottom girls " wore this song like a badge. They owned it and played it up! Everybody loved the song!
I may not be Latino but im a typical Scottish woman who like nearly all of the other typical Scottish women have a fat bottom and i for one am happy that i am in the fat bottom category love your channel you've been reacting to music i grew up with so thank you ❤
Irish and love my fat bottom.. child bearing hips they used to be called back in '78 yep had my 1st born then.. This always get the audience going when the We will Rock you Theatre show is touring.. seen it 3 times now, if they don't play it will just have to start the chant my self lol
I'm only 27, so if it hadn't been for my parents, I would never have known what a great band Queen is. When I was dating my wife, I was slowly introducing her to rock and roll, but I was admittedly hesitant to play her this song because she was 19 at this point in our relationship. One night, I was at her place getting coffee and she wanted to put in some music. I had been spoon feeding her Queen songs over the previous 2 weeks, and as a result she wanted to listen to their greatest hits. She knew that I had the entire Platinum Collection in my truck and told me to go and get it. She put in the first CD, and we started rocking out. Then, Fat Bottomed Girls played. I fast forwarded the CD, but she immediately countered and rewinded to Track 4. After the song was over, she asked me why I had skipped the song. I told her that I didn't want her to think that her superbly shaped bottom was the only reason why I loved her. She told me that I was silly for worrying about that and that she would have had no problems if that were the case, and she knew that it wasn't beforehand. That was 8 years ago. She's 27 now, and to this day, she still loves shaking the house with this absolute banger. It's one of her favorite songs. So, that being said, Hollywood Records, as a happily married man of 3 years, I can confirm that the female youth is not opposed to Fat Bottomed Girls, and it should very well be kept on the Greatest Hits roster.
I'm getting old. Back in the day this was my go to song to play on the jukebox about 15 minutes before the bar was about to close. Excellent conversation starter.
Always pleases me when youngsters figure out that we older folk had GREAT MUSIC not just for our generation, but so great it will hand over to future generations.
As a teenager, I didn't take offense to this song. I laughed and partied to this! As a mother (old enough to be grandmother) I sing this as a "badge of honor cause I rock!! 🥳😂😂😂
What a treat! This is such a FUN song which a lot of people think was written by Freddie ..... but NO.....written by the supposedly "quiet", studious, perfectionist guitarist, BRIAN MAY!!! LOL!!! He said that he wrote it for Freddie who seemed to like those with a bit "extra" in certain areas ...haha! Queen wrote "Bicycle Race", the other side of the single. That's why Freddie sings, "Get on your bicycles and ride" during Fat Bottomed Girls. Both songs are great! If you get a chance, watch Queen bring this song to the stage at Milton Keynes (The Bowl), in 1982...you'll see Freddie give a new meaning to pole dancing...hilarious! I love seeing Queen having a great time. The song is great, the whole band is on point, and Freddie's vocals are EXACTLY what this song needs. Thanks for this one, Sebs...really enjoyed your reaction.
Writer Freddie Mercury? I'm pretty sure Sir Brian wrote this? Your reactions are so much fun to watch and it's exciting to see that you are approaching 100k!
Absolutely love Queen! Freddie was the best. Loved your reaction to the video. I'm a new subscriber to your channel. Caught your reaction video to Dan Vasc singing Amazing Grace. Loved your heart felt reaction and your honest opinion. And the fact that open to hearing new thing's.
This song is absolutely incredible! The live version at Milton Keynes is so much better as is Queen live. There is nothing better than one of their live performances. They are a people's band, never really scored high with the critics till later in their career. Others worthy of a listen are "The Prophet's Song", "It's Late" "Dead On Time" I could go on forever. Thanks for the air play!
song written by guitarist Brian May. When released, the B side was Bicycle Race. which is alluded at the end of Fat Bottom Girls when Freddie shouts "get on your bikes and ride"
My 2nd fave Queen song! Lord, hate to think Queen's awesome catalog's being invaded by the politically correct. Leave the "fat-bottom girls" ALONE! Thanks for your reaction.
Say! Watch this song performed at Milton Keynes! Freddie gets going- he went crazy- really great! Great reaction- AGAIN!! Down the rabbit hole honey- 200 songs and more!
This song is the best 🤣 as a “band geek” in my college marching band, this was one of our favs to play! The cheerleaders on the other hand got an attitude when it was announced they were dancing to Fat Bottom Girls😂 Brian wrote this gem because Freddie liked his partners to have an ample back side. Great song!! Can’t help but sing along! Freddie passed my senior year in college… miss the genius of Freddie and original Queen
First rock concert I went to was Quenn, New Haven CT, August 1982. To this day still the best concert I've been to. To be part of an audience of over 15,000 clapping and stomping their feet when they played "WE Will Rock You" was magical.
What an amazingly brilliantly written and sung by Freddie. No, no they should never take this off their albums. What a singer he was, never will be replaced.
It's one of my favourite Queen songs!! The guitar and the vocals are just perfect, and I'll be listening to this song until I am 6 feet under!! I love curvaceous women ❤️
The video clip showing the girls on bikes is great. Also, Freddie said that the girls found the riding of the bikes uncomfortable and the band hadn't thought about that beforehand.
Plus size women shouldn't be offended by this brilliant song!!!! Maybe the offended ones it is more about their personal guilt. Strap a pair on and get over yourselves. You have no right to deny everyone else the pleasure of this song, just don't listen!!!!
I think this is just cancelled from the greatest hits album on a streaming site that is geared for kids, not on any of their other sites or from their future greatest hits albums. Frankly, I don't understand why it is supposed to be a song that kids shouldn't hear but someone, somewhere, with no life who works in a company that is associated with Disney, made the call. I might understand Bohemian Rhapsody being pulled just because of the wording of killed and shot but for some reason, that one made it through. Brian wrote this song for Freddie because Freddie liked curvy hips and bottoms. Rumor has it that Brian also liked a little extra in the behind as well. Thank you for your reaction of this great song. I love it and always have along with everyone else I ever knew who heard it.
Seven Seas of Rhye is another lesser known Queen song that has been buried in time. It is truly special, based on a game Freddy played with his sister.
I was just a kid when this song came out... probably about 9 years old. I remember hearing it on the radio and thinking it was so weird. I definitely didn't "get" the meaning or nuances of the song, at the time. Now I just love this song. It's just a great song, and I don't think anyone should take it too seriously (in terms of it being offensive or inappropriate) I am a fat-bottomed girl myself!! And I love this song.
Tiny question how you could have missed this? Further, as a fat bottomed girl, I support this message. I do, in fact, make the rockin' world go 'round.
I'm 62, I was into hard rock, I liked queen, .... but this is the song that made me a true fan, ...., ..you had to be there, ..to really understand , how different music was being made, and the news sounds,
Definitely one of my favorites! I know you've done a reaction to Adam Lambert singing Believe by Cher, and I LOVE it, but listen to the songs he does with Queen. There are 3 more artists I would LOVE to see and that is Queen w/ Adam Lambert ( I wish Freddy was still alive ), Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John. I've been blessed to have seen some epic concerts from all genres. I do have to take my 7yr old granddaughter to see Pentatonix though. I've always wanted my kids and grandkids to know and love music as much as I do. I grew up in chorus, vocal ensembles and a capella and started singing Mary Did You Know, Little Drummer Boy and Hallelujah. I even sang it through the phone a few times. My 2 yr old granddaughter LOVES Celtic Women and Dolly Parton. I spent nights singing You Raise Me Up and Celtic Women's Disney Songs ( mainly Baby Mine ) to her.
When my grandson was very young, this was his favorite Queen song. At the time, he was probably too young to understand what that meant exactly, but he truly loved the song and would sing it at the top of his lungs.
I love this song it's a classic from 1978. Please don't cancel this song, everytime I hear this it reminds me of Queen and buts a smile on my face and tapping my feet.
At the last part, Freddy says "Get on your bike and ride". This is to reference the next song... "Bicycle Race" is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was released on their 1978 album Jazz and written by Queen's lead singer Freddie Mercury. It was released as a double A-side single together with the song "Fat Bottomed Girls", reaching number 11 in the UK Singles Chart and number 24 in the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.[2][3] The song is included in their 1981 Greatest Hits compilation. The song is notable for its video featuring a bicycle race with nude women at Wimbledon Stadium."
It wasn't just that Freddy was the master-class performer, every member of Queen was a world-class musician in his own right. I really don't think the original group will ever be equaled.
Queen - possibly the best music band ever (and that is open to a wonderful beer fueled discussion in a pub), this song is proper Rock and Roll. All the ingredients, nothing missing, cooked to perfection. Sure, they created one or two songs that were forgettable but they enjoyed autonomy and were allowed to be experimental. Along the way they created some classics that never get old or tired.
It’s a bop, but the reason people are upset with it is because it’s from the perspective of a kid who lusted after his babysitter so hard it informed all of his future sexual interests. Kinda inapropro these days, still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a jam lol.
There is a short video of naked, nicely rounded girls that was filmed in Europe and shot from behind that goes with this song and the bicycle song. I have seen it on YTube. 😂😂😂😂😂
I might also add, (albeit late), the company doing the recording for kids asked Queen's permission first to leave it out and they gave it. It did make me wonder about Bohemian Rhapsody, "just killed a man", but, whatever! Great reaction, nobody can touch their harmonies!
I've been a fan of Queen from BEFORE Queen became famous. When we could actually have fun, and joke. I don't remember any fuss over this at the time. It was what it was.. a fun song with a great tune.
We were so lucky that these four brilliant individual musicians found each other. ❤️ And that these intelligent men risked their intellectually brilliant Education to follow their dreams. Brian just finished his Doctorate a few years ago. No need to do it. But HE needed to do that. 👍
Seaside rendezvous!!!!! Is one of my favorites!! Please consider listening to it. You’ll be surprised. Their ability to cross into so many genres is always amazing!!!
This was just a rumor that the song was cancelled. It was simply removed from a Queen's greatest hits version that was aimed at kids. That's why it was left off. :)
Live Aid was a great concert meant to help people but in the end the artist bickered about their pay so much and got so greedy the charity they did that for got absolutely nothing
1. The shout of "Get on your bikes and ride!" is meant to tie the song in with Bicycle Race, its musical/lyrical sibling song (and don't forget the naked-model bicycle race they staged, and filmed for a now-seldom-seen alternative video); 2. Any discussion of this song isn't complete without this old joke - The female population of (Stockport/Newcastle/Leeds) should be given a Nobel prize for their contribution to global thermodynamics. Because, as that prize-winning astrophysicist Dr BRIAN MAY tells us, "fat bottomed girls, you make the rockin' world go round!"
Thanks, Sebs! This is actually a Brian May song.. he and Roger were the "rockers"... Everyone in the band agreed, though, that "everything sounds better when Freddie sings it"... and of course, he's got the strut & style to pull it off... lol (p.s. "get on your bikes & ride" at the end is a reference to "Bicycle Race" - where they actually sponsored a nude bicycle race...).. ALSO: I was amused by this post: "In 1978 Astrophysicist Brian May, assisted by F. Mercury, postulated that the earth's rotation was due to Fat Bottomed Girls... after more than 40 years, without being disproven, refuted, or even seriously questioned, this now must be accepted as scientific fact."
There will be another transcendent talent one day. It may be far off, but it will come. We will likely not be around to enjoy it. That’s why they call this kind of talent “generational.”
This is why we can’t have nice things. It’s such a great song by an amazing band about some booties. But it’s cool to rap about WAP. What a world we live in.
to be fair its just being taken out on one particular streaming service that is made only for kids below 10, Im sure similar songs of other artists are also not allowed on a kid's app
You commenting with outrage without knowing the entire story I'm having your fax completely wrong is why we can't have nice things. Nobody is canceling this song, and nobody is taking this off of their greatest hits. Ryan made himself requested that I be taken off of a streaming service that is for children around five years old and younger. That should be controversial in the slightest. But I guess it's just easier to remain uneducated in virtue signal, instead of looking into the store yourself, or leaving the comments about the story to people who actually know what they're talking about.🙄
🎼🔥💃🔥🎼🔥💃🔥🎼 way to go Sebs .. this song totally Rocks , love it !! love this band !! This is just great Rock n Roll !! .... I could listen to this song every day. Keep rockin' brother.
Love this song! The heavy drums, Brian May playing that guitar…and of course the legend, Freddie 😍 I’m re-discovering Queen, so their songs are on my playlist when driving. This is one song I blast out every time!
Now that you've heard this song, you'll thoroughly enjoy going back to a group you've touched on a little bit, Home Free. You should do a reaction to the "Butts Medley". I would give you a hint, but it's better if you go into it 100% blind.
They still perform this song now, with Adam Lambert, when they performed it on their last tour, they had the Dallas cowboys cheer leaders on stage with them performing it,. You check that video out.
I grew up listening to Queen, I learned English from learning the lyrics of their songs, including this one. Queen made music that has power and magic. They will never be cancelled.
This was actually written as a tribute to the groupies (us) who weren't "conventionally beautiful". It made those of us with what was considered less than perfect bodies feel good! I'd say don't believe everything you read. I can't imagine Queen taking this out of their set list any time soon.
My brother in law listen to Queen all the time. I didn't know my son was paying attention until one night . We were at my in laws for dinner. My 3yr old son started singing this loudly at the table. They were not fans😂
Love ur reaction to queen, ive seen them twice live, totally amazing. Been a fan since early 70s.every album is brilliant.god bless freddy, all of them had amazing voices. Have u checked out The Prophets song, written by Brian, after a dream he had.also check out Rogers vocals on My Fairy King, from their 2nd album.amazing
As a woman, il love this song. ❤It is therefore necessary to censor all the clips of rappers which highlight the buttocks advantages of young women. This Puritan world is going crazy.
Queen is my absolute favorite band, and Freddie Mercury is my favorite singer. My parents and one of my Aunts raised me on them, and I am trying to do the same with my kids.
I went to High School in the 70’s and no girls were triggered by this song. It rocked and we loved it because it celebrated our curves! We viewed the world as Champions (pun intended) not victims.
To me this is definitely one of their best songs. For them to take it out of their greatest hits is sacrilege.
Wasn't it on the original greatest hits album? I'm probably wrong, because I'm thinking back about thirty years, and I don't quite trust my memory, going that far back.

Thank heavens and thank you for clearing it up. @@johnmcdonald7339
It definitely is on their greatest hits. I have all their albums. You might say I'm a fan. 😂😂@@GimmeJimmy23
@@johnmcdonald7339 thanks for the clarification! This was my first time hearing anything about this, glad to hear it's just a nothing story.
As one of the fat bottomed girls in the world, I’m more offended they wanna cancel this than by the song. There’s soooo many worse songs out there! (WAP comes to mind immediately)
I'm in my 60's and when this song came out, I thought it was a song of admiration, nothing derogatory.

All four band members wrote lyrics, arranged, played and sang. What a talented group! I love Roger's drumming on this.

DVE and WAMO... I know where you grew up! I never much listened to either of those, I usually had 96KX on as a teen.
96KX was a good station too! The whole era was great for radio and for a dial hopper like me! ☺
"Get on your Bikes and Ride!" was a nod to the other side of the single, "Bicycle Race".
DVE! Hey, neighbor! Are you the age that you remember XX?
I've had enough of this cancel culture who are determined to eek every bit of enjoyment out of life they can. FBG is a celebration of the fuller figured lady, there's absolutely nothing bad or wrong about that!
Queen crushed virtually every genre. They pretty much invented speed metal. Check out "Stone Cold Crazy."

One of my favorites from this legendary band!!❤
Please do this song LIVE AT THE BOWL(Milton Keynes). It’s 10X better because it’s live, the crowd, and Freddie!
First rock concert I went to was Quenn, New Haven CT, August 1982. To this day still the best concert I've been to. To be part of an audience of over 15,000 clapping and stomping their feet when they played "WE Will Rock You" was magical.
Love your review. "Ain't no beauty queens in this locality" one of the greatest lines in pop music :)
I’ve always loved this song 🎶 Great band and every song different tempo rhythm
Definitely check out Tie Your Mother Down. I just love Brian, Rogers and Deacys riff.
Sebs, Brian May is a phenomenal guitar player. I believe he's in the top 10 world-wide guitar player.
Freddie was into the larger women that's why Sir Dr. Brian May wrote the song.
I have this on vinyl. I'll never stop listening to it.
The first album I ever bought. Love it! This is one of those songs that strikes you right off the first time hearing it, and it only gets better.
What an amazingly brilliantly written and sung by Freddie. No, no they should never take this off their albums. What a singer he was, never will be replaced.
Brian wrote this.
@@susanberrier5727yes, Brian did write this one.
Written by Brian actually.
This will never be cancelled.
Loved "Bicycle Race" and the video was a hoot although it did cause a flap when it was released.
*Wembley, not Wimbledon
Love them both
I Remember !
The live version at Milton Keynes 1982 is so awesome. You have to see it!!
Every band member in Queen are aces!
This is one of favorite songs by Queen! That bass COOKS…
It’s a bop, but the reason people are upset with it is because it’s from the perspective of a kid who lusted after his babysitter so hard it informed all of his future sexual interests. Kinda inapropro these days, still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a jam lol.
Great Reaction ❤ Listen to this and Queens "Bicycle" back to back... As one song... It's an epic listen I saw the in December of 1977, in Houston, TX.
There is a short video of naked, nicely rounded girls that was filmed in Europe and shot from behind that goes with this song and the bicycle song. I have seen it on YTube. 😂😂😂😂😂
This song cancels hate. For 45 years, and going.
I might also add, (albeit late), the company doing the recording for kids asked Queen's permission first to leave it out and they gave it. It did make me wonder about Bohemian Rhapsody, "just killed a man", but, whatever! Great reaction, nobody can touch their harmonies!
"Don't Stop Me Now" is on the Greatest Hits. "I'm a sex machine waiting to reload...." and, well you know. 👑😉
The 60's were the last great outcry of the human spirit. Keep diving into the masterpieces there of..
This was just a rumor that the song was cancelled. It was simply removed from a Queen's greatest hits version that was aimed at kids. That's why it was left off. :)
Queen were already a huge group for 10+ years when they did Live Aid
and that catapulted them to another stratospheric level.
Live Aid was a great concert meant to help people but in the end the artist bickered about their pay so much and got so greedy the charity they did that for got absolutely nothing
@@claudballs5679thanks for sharing. Did not know that 😢
I love your channel. I’m so happy that younger generations are experiencing Queen- the greatest band ever!! Enjoy
Queen may very be the best all around rock band ever. Many hours spent with them and their masterful musicianship.
Its probably a studio version put over a live performance
1. The shout of "Get on your bikes and ride!" is meant to tie the song in with Bicycle Race, its musical/lyrical sibling song (and don't forget the naked-model bicycle race they staged, and filmed for a now-seldom-seen alternative video);
2. Any discussion of this song isn't complete without this old joke -
The female population of (Stockport/Newcastle/Leeds) should be given a Nobel prize for their contribution to global thermodynamics.
Queen singing the praises of large bottomed girls more than a decade before Sir Mix-a-Lot.
There will never be another Freddy Mercury, he will forever be missed and loved. ❤
We should start cancelling the cancel culture.
to be fair its just being taken out on one particular streaming service that is made only for kids below 10, Im sure similar songs of other artists are also not allowed on a kid's app
The heavy drums, Brian May playing that guitar…and of course the legend, Freddie 😍
I’m re-discovering Queen, so their songs are on my playlist when driving. This is one song I blast out every time!
Now that you've heard this song, you'll thoroughly enjoy going back to a group you've touched on a little bit, Home Free. You should do a reaction to the "Butts Medley". I would give you a hint, but it's better if you go into it 100% blind.
I came to the comments to tell him the same thing! He'll love it. LOL!
They still perform this song now, with Adam Lambert, when they performed it on their last tour, they had the Dallas cowboys cheer leaders on stage with them performing it,. You check that video out.
Freddie does it first, then asks permission...not! I love this song!!!!~~~~~ Woot!
I can't get over my eras music nothing compares to it nowadays
Please listen to The Bicycle Song. The phrase Get on your bikes and ride will make more sense
Teacher: who's make the rocking world go round
Students: God!!
F. Bulsara: Fat bottomed girls
Freddie is GOD among men! He's incredible!
😂😂😂😂😂
👍🔥
You should check out a song hardly no one knows called Liar - Queen’s early days. Very different
I was very lucky to see Queen in my home city (Sheffield) in 1974, wow what a show that was, Queen were supporting Mott The Hoople 👍👍👄🏴😊
