Before "Rump Shaker" or "Baby Got Back", it was "Fat Bottom Girls". Many have taken this as somehow an insult, but it really was a celebration of women with curves. One of the most of positive songs out there.
Most guys indeed liked curves back in the day, but there's a difference between a curvy ass (like a classic late '60s Camaro) and a fat one (like an AMC Pacer), which was much more of a niche preference back then. None of the sex symbols of the '70s and '80s nor the girls in Playboy or Penthouse, had fat bottoms (though if you liked that I'm sure there was a porno rag for you. Actually I think Hustler probably had some. Their girls looked came in various shapes and sizes, and all looked luke someone went to a trailer park and offered them $50 to pose). We certainly didn't have the obsession with bubble butts people do nowadays. If that's what you like, cool, I'm not judging. But some women are now wearing butt pads and even getting butt implants, which is weird. Though maybe not quite as dangerous as the "heroin chic" fad of the early '90s. That was creepy AF. I remember when J. Lo's booty was the "butt" of many jokes (see what I did there), but now it's apparently what younger guys like and fashionable women want. Unless it has already went out of style when I wasn't looking. I'm too old to keep up with this shit. 😂
Since you've reacted to 'Fat Bottomed Girls' I highly recommend Bicycle Race. It's a great companion piece to this song, Brian May (the guitarist) wrote 'Fat Bottomed Girls' and Freddie wrote Bicycle Race. Freddie was inspired to write the song while watching the 18th stage of the 1978 Tour de France passing Montreux, where the band were recording their album Jazz (Where these two songs feature) in the Mountain Studios.
I knew the two songs always go together, but I hadn’t realized they were written by different people. Such good coordination between the two (although each song stands tall on its own too)
I'm so happy you're doing another Queen song. Freddie is the ultimate showman; and he can sing a little bit, too. One of my favorites is "My Melancholy Blues" from News of the World. He does a killer live version on 12/11/77. I think you'd really dig it. Anyway, loved your reaction, young lady.
In addition to the musical abilities of each member of Queen and Freddy's showmanship, I've grown more and more over the years to appreciate how they were able to write and perform songs that spanned so many different styles/genres from rock, to rock opera, to pop, to disco-ish, and more. I truly wish I was old enough to have seen them in concert or wish that Freddy had not died so young.
But the most tear jerking song will always be "Who Wants to Live Forever?"😢. So damn beautiful. The Tenors, a quartet of singers, brought some justice to it. They definitely didn't make it boring.
Prior to Freddie joining, the band was called Smile - which is what everyone does when they hear Queen 😁 Recommendations: seven seas of rye, one vision, tie your mother down.
That was a blinding track even back in the day, and part of a great album (Jazz). Always fun, often varied, QUEEN have a phenomenal catalogue for a band that was only active for about ten years.
5:15 Hey, Aileen, that "Get On Your Bikes And Ride" reference from Freddie was a reference to another Queen song, "Bicycle Race," which you should definitely react to, if you haven't already reacted to it. Also, "Bicycle Race" also namedrops this song in the lyrics
Great reaction to this great song, Aileen, thank you. I highly recommend "Killer Queen" by them, another earlier track of theirs which is well worth reacting to.
Dr. Brian May is an astrophysicist as well as the guitarist for Queen. Since his postulation (assisted by F. Mercury et al) that the Earth's rotation is due to the activity of fat bottomed girls has never been disproven or even seriously questioned in over 40 years, it must be regarded as scientific fact.
Funny, I just watched your Queen LiveAid reaction and now you have a new Queen recation :D This is a double A-side single from 79. This song was by Brian, the other (Bicycle Race) by Freddie. The two songs are musically not only similar but even quote each other. Clever PR :)
What a fun song! This came out when "rail thin" was chic. But every rock crowd, whether in your local dive bar or in a huge arena, was filled with (what we now call "thicc" girls) fat bottomed girls. And they were a LOT of fun! What a great time to be alive!! Well done young lady! Thank you.
This song can sneak up and make you headbang without realizing it. I still love it 😉 You’d love Seven Seas of Rhye! I also recommend Tenement Funster for some lesser played Queen.
Her name was Zomba. She stood six feet and at least three inches qnd weighed about 270 pounds. She stole my friend for a night at a Grateful Dead show for the evening. Problem was that he stole her hat. She rousted us all at sunrise looking for our partner in crime.
I've asked before, and I'll ask again, young lady. Save Me from The Game album and the live performance from "Rocks Montreal 1981". This song was a double A side single with "Bicycle Race" off their "Jazz" album. The video for that one caused a ruckus, as the band asked a bike shop to loan them bicycles to film the video. When the shop found out that the models wore nothing but sneakers and bike helmets, the band had to buy new seats. The album had a 12"×24" poster from the video in the sleeve.
This is the first I've heard anyone take this part in particular. It was telling how she didn't process the meaning and reacted to the lyrics.. almost like it's entirely fake and she's reacting for engagement and not sincerely.
Would love to see your reaction to Freddie Mercury & Montseratt Caballé - Barcelona, was Freddie’s dream to work with her and they remained great friends until he passed away, it’s an absolute masterpiece of a performance, have the tissues at the ready tho 😁 great reaction again Aileen ❤️

You, and your reactions are amazing Aileen. So genuine in finding new musical experiences. A big fan, and always will be. All the way from N.Z. Keep rocking!
Gotta react to the live 1981 performance of "Somebody to Love" from Montreal if you haven't seen it already. One of the best live performances I've ever seen (in video, would've been DOPE to have been born early enough to see them live while Freddy was still around)
As sad as it may sound I literally wait for and look forward to you telling me at the end of every video that you love me so very much. I say it at the end of most of my videos, but with you it's like I feel like I feel it for the first time from someone else. Keep rocking it woman! 😎😁🤗
At one point Freddie sings "Get on your bikes and ride". This may be a reference to another song on this album called Bycicle Race that I always liked. Check it out!
Also you would enjoy Death On Two Legs off of Night at the Opera album. It’s a grievance Freddy had with there management. He links him pretty bad the lyrics are phenomenal. Keep doing what you are doing it’s fantastic…
On the album (and in the lyrics) this song is sort of a companion piece to "Bicycle Race", the track that followed it on their album "Jazz". The LP itself included a fold-out poster of dozens of young naked women on bicycles.
Been to long since you did a queen reaction Aileen I'm glad you did this one and yes we need to get you some of those leather pants looking beautiful as always 🫶
Ah! The fun side of Queen! Haven't heard this one in years... thank you Aileen. Now, I've got a few good Bass lines for you : 1. Rock On - by David Essex... use the Vevo version for best quality. Can't get tired of this one. 2. Green Eyed Lady - by Sugarloaf... this 1970 hit has a catchy bass/drum riff that makes you wanna move. 3. Time Of The Season - by The Zombies(lyric video)... this '68 song is British psychedelic rock. 4. Mony Mony - by Billy Idol... just his energy is contagious... not to mention his snarl! 5. How could you leave that behind?

And the original 45 single had both songs.
I was just think about the Bicycle song 😂

Was a double A side single
The line is "left alone with big fat Fanny, she was such a naughty nanny". She is a large woman who shaped him as a child.
The song was written by guitarist Dr Brian May. Great track. I would recommend "One Vision" for you next.

"Big fat fanny", which is a British double entende in itself.
I've always loved that line and still giggle over it.
@@mooniejohnsonwho deep down doesn’t like a fat fanny?

Dr. Brian May.

Some of their songs were metal in some respects, particularly sheer heart attack.

Perfect song for doing shots while playing quarters in the Army barracks. Great memories.
Prior to Freddie joining, the band was called Smile - which is what everyone does when they hear Queen 😁

'Get on your bike and ride!' refers to their song Bicycle Race.
And Bicycle Race refers to Fat Bottomed Girls.
both songs were debuted at the "little 500" annal bicycle race at Indiana University
Bicycle Race also references this, "Fat Bottom girls, they'll being riding today."

There is no bad Queen song, only varying levels of epic. This is one of the most epic. Fun reaction!
