Buying A Neglected 2016 Yamaha R6 & Restoring It Back To OEM

- Today I head up to lakeland Florida to buy a not wrecked buy slightly damaged 2016 Yamaha R6 this bike just needs new levers fairings and grips to just the basics on this one. I return the bike to the OEM blue with silver accents.

Why is no one talking about how cool the previous owner is? He seemed like a genuinely nice dude and he also seemed like he cared about the bike and maybe just didn't have the money to get it looking nice again so decided to sell it on.

@@caseydietze4575 8 years ago i was just 20 y.o and i live by all by myself and had my first r3 and my very first bike. when i think about it , it feels kinda bad because i remember some night i had no food when something on my bike need3d to fixed/ changed. Not all of riders that has good bike means they can afford it easily

This gen of R6 never had any sort of electronics, not even ABS, pure Raw🙌🏻🔥
Not to mention it was the biggest rip off also. People were still buying new r6s in 2015 when it was the same bike as an 06.

4th gens 2017-2021 introduced the throttle by wire modes, tcs and abs.
3rd gens 2006-2016, were actually throttle by wire, they just didn't have any of the modes yet.
2nd gens (R6 2003-2005/R6S 2006-2009) were throttle by cable.
1st gens 1999-2002 was carbureted.
@@Dirkadew how much do you want it to change dude? If you're barely gonna do a small incremental change just leave it as is, it's not worth it to create a whole new lineup of engine parts just to get 1.5hp more. Make the change when you're upgrading enough things to justify all the new parts

It baffles me how people completely neglect there bikes, four wheelers, go karts etc, that r6 is a lil rough around the edges but with some good ol tlc and it will be a good looking bike again. Great job.

How did you fix the scratches on the frame ?
Look at that Gsx, looks amazing. That's my brother dreams bike. But it's imposible to bring Gsx to him. Cause he just passed out on 6th January by his cancer. He said to me before he go, "ride a GSX for me, cause my dream is never happen to me". I from Indonesia, and that is my brother's dream.

I don’t understand how someone can tear a bike down to install new parts and NOT clean the bike first. First thing I do on every used bike I buy is strip it down and literally spend several days cleaning EVERYTHING on the bike before reassembly. Starting with a clean bike is like having a clean slate. Also makes it easy to spot any potential leaks on the motorcycle.
2014 R6 here Yamaha blue & white pure beast Ill never part with it. 16k miles and counting.
Although the last gen R6 is cool. I love the previous gen design. But I'm biased owning the sexiest livery that bike has with a 50th anniversary edition GP

Im new to your channel and I really really wanna ride a motorcycle like im a fan of the cbr, r6 and Kawasaki some bikes but i never drove a bike in my life. Im only 5'5/5 and it just i need some tips and advice how to start because i just wanna be apart of the motorcycle life and feel free riding instead of a car lmao 🤣
The Yamaha sits the lowest stock out of those 3 bikes but the Cbr is definitely the most reliable in the long run.
Please, for the love of God, begin with a smaller CC bike, there are great options out there, even a simple Honda Grom, learn the basics, you will fall in the beginning but that is part of the fun, is way better to learn how to fall and how to properly drive on a smaller CC bike, and then grow from there, take your time, is waaay better this way trust me, I've been there, and seen a lot of riders that learn in a big bike then in a panic situation they do not know how to react and Crash

Does anybody knows if you can have 2008-2016 fairings to 2007 R6 without modifications???do they fit?
No. You need an 08+ rear subframe and front fairing stay to fit the 08+ fairings on an 06/07 model.
The 08+ models were actually quite heavily redesigned, the frame, brakes, fairings and electronics were all updated.

I mean you buy it and you lock your arms and basically "lion king" it.
if you tucked more and rode it that way it would be a more comfortable ride. your arms won't be nearly as tired. your wrists won't hurt.
if you wanna ride it upright like that, install modded handlebars or get a different bike.
