My all time favorite place here in VB is the Virginia Beach Boardwalk I just LOVE the beach here especially during the sunset and nighttime and what’s also so fun about the beach is that me and my mom drive around Virginia Beach every weekend especially along the oceanfront Just love it😍😍

Yes! My husband is originally from Virginia Beach so we are there several times a year. The best thing to do is hang out at the beach and enjoy a nice dinner- usually seafood. We visited Virginia Beach several years ago and really enjoyed it. We always remember the dolphins leaping out of the water at the beach.🐸
Yes, we have seen many dolphins in the water there. We want to go there this winter to take a whale watching tour to see some whales that migrate through the area each winter. It is a beautiful area with lots to see and do. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I know I have mentioned this before but my grandparents took me to Virginia Beach when I was real young and I have always had fond memories of it! They lived in Petersburg and Sterling, VA for a good amount of time! One of these summers Emily and I are going to head back and enjoy the beach for a few days!
You totally should go back one day. There is so much beauty and so much to do there. You would have a great time with a few days at the beach sometime. My grandparents used to live in Virginia Beach when I was a little kid. It was nice - we stayed at their house so didn't have to pay for a hotel.

Love the Neptune Sculpture. The Go Carts would be loads of fun. Golf no, Mini Golf awesome. Whale and Dolphin watching, I would be into that. A pretty town centre, plenty on offer. Aquariums are totally interesting. Beautiful Park. Time to let our hair out at the Water Park. Lots of Adventures to be had. Love the board walk. I'm in for the Haunted House. Yes, they have several nice arcades that we have spent some time in near the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Jack plays video games and then tries to defeat me at ski ball - which is rare for him. LOL. There really is a lot to do in the area. We always have fun in Virginia Beach. That Shipwreck Golf putt putt course is great fun. There are a number of other cool putt putt courses as well. One is jungle themed with statues of giraffes and elephants and other animals. And there is a pirate themed one that we liked too. And we do love visiting that aquarium. Thanks for the compliment! Sandbridge Beach if you want less of a tourist experience.
This is great advice! Sandbridge is a much more low key, relaxing, less crowded beach experience. We always enjoy that area as well. We have some footage of it and have been considering doing a video… though it would spoil the locals’ secret. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Lived right by Bow Creek golf course for 20 years growing up, VB has so much to do. I spent one summer going to the beach literally everyday. The old kids cove at Mt. Trashmore was way better imo. Overall good list, I’ve lived in FL for almost 10 years now but I still have my 757 phone number! 🤘😎

Ocean Breeze can get pricey, but my kids LOVE it!! I would also add the Vibe Art District. There is an art museum, and also a one mile walking path to see all kinds of murals which make for great Instagram opportunities 😉
Ocean Breeze is so much fun! But you are right... it can be pricey - especially if you have several family members to buy tickets for. But we feel it is worth it. You are so right about the Vibe Art District. It is such a beautiful area! We have not been in the museum. But we have walked the one mile walking path to see all the murals. i live in Virginia beach, Virginia since 2012 I only went to a couple of these places. The aquarium is so fun and mount trash more is so fun I love it! I live right next to the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic ocean and First Landing State park.

Don't go to Pembroke mall. That is a dying mall in the Va Beach area. I highly recommend Lynnhaven Mall like mentioned in the video.
Agreed. We haven't been to Pembroke Mall in years but it did look like it was dying from across the street. We went to Lynnhaven on our most recent trip in the spring and enjoyed a little shopping as well as some games at Dave & Busters and dinner at Maggie McFly's. It was a very nice mall. I live here and I'm not impressed but I'm thankful it's not built up like new York Chicago and other big cities so I shouldn't complain I guess
I get it. My husband grew up in Virginia Beach but I grew up five hours from the nearest beach. So for those of us not used to getting to see the beach very often, Virginia Beach is a great chance to see the ocean and enjoy some seafood and see some other attractions like the ones we mention here in this video. And, as you say, it isn't built up like many large cities tourists frequent, which is nice.Thanks for watching and commenting!

I've been to apex entertainment and it is really fun and their pretzels are MASSIVE. Another place I would add to this list is woodstock skate park.

I think the indoor skydiving place should have gotten at least a honorable mention, I have never tried it, but you can just watch, and don't forget your bike, lots of places to ride, if you don't surf stay away from the beaches with surfing areas

i really enjoy the boat tours there. The dolphin tour is honestly really relaxing, the speed boat is by far my favorite. Im going back tomorrow just for the whale tour. I can't wait 🙌

Virginia Beach has gotten very "rough". Problems almost every night at the ocean front. Robberies are an everyday thing.
Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching. We have received several comments of this nature. We deleted the more ridiculous ones that, for example, suggested there was a great chance that you would be murdered in the street if you visit Virginia Beach. But this is a real concern people have when they plan a vacation so I do want to address the issue. I don't know how well I can answer this in a short reply in the TH-cam comments section, but I will give it a shot. First, crime is a problem everywhere in the US (and the world, one supposes) to varying degrees. There are certainly areas of the country with less crime than Virginia Beach. But there are also plenty of areas with much more crime than Virginia Beach - including many big cities that are tourist attractions that millions of people visit every year in spite of the crime. Jack used to live in Virginia Beach. We still have relatives in the area that we visit regularly but we also get a hotel room right on the beach a couple times a year - once during peak summer season, and once outside of peak season because we love visiting the area. We have literally never felt unsafe in the area. It is true however that we are the type of people who retire to our hotel room by about 10 pm and aren't staying out late. We have never been walking the streets late at night when many of the problems occur. We are aware of several high profile crimes that have taken place in recent years (the biggest headlines this year were related to one night in March where there were 3 different shootings with several injuries and two deaths - everyone invloved was locals). But again, if you compare the crime rates of Virginia Beach to the national average, it is at or below average compared to the country as a whole. While we had a number of people complain about the crime - we also had a number of people complain that there were too many police officers in the area and that they were "harassing" visitors over minor issues. So people are noticing that the city is trying to have a visible police presence to prevent crime as much as possible. Crime can happen everywhere. You should be on your guard. You should not leave valuables unattended. You should try to stay with your family or friends as you enjoy your vacation. If you are traveling alone, you should try to stay in places with crowds. We definitely want everyone to stay safe while enjoying traveling. But the chances of being a victim of crime in Virginia Beach is no worse than other cities its size and larger.

How cold does it get around these last days of Dec?
Hey! Thanks for watching. We used to live in Virginia Beach (have since moved a couple hours away). This time of year the average high temperature in the daytime in Virginia Beach is in the 50s. It can get to the 60s on a particularly warm day or the 40s on a colder day. Nighttime low averages in the low 40s but can get into the 30s on a really cold night. It is rare for Virginia Beach to get snow in December. When it does snow in the area, it is usually in January or February and they don't usually get much accumulation in Virginia Beach. Hope you enjoy your visit!
Motor world is for me!!! Just the go carts, not the bungee thing.... lol No thanks... We used to spend time in Virginia Beach when I was a kid, camping and stuff... It was a really fun spot.... God bless!!!

apex is in town center
You guys are so lucky to get to spend so much time in Virginia Beach. Ya gotta love go-carts. LOL! Not much into golf, but miniature golf is a different story. Love boat tours; especially anything that will get me up close and personal with a dolphin or a whale. The aquarium looks like so much fun. Landfill park- now that's cool, and would love to camp at the state park. We haven't been to an amusement park in years.
We certainly do feel lucky. Although we actually like it better in the spring and fall than in the summer. We have already had our spring trip to Virginia Beach and it was a lot of fun. Now we just have to edit together some videos. It gets so crowded there most summers (not last year because of Covid, but usually) that we usually don't go at peak travel times. We really enjoy dolphin or whale watching tours. There are always fun. You really would like that state park. I thought of yall and some of the RV.camping channels we watch when we were visiting that park. They had a really nice campground that I think you would enjoy just a short walk to the beach. We just stayed at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores and it was amazing. I imagine Virginia Beach would be the same. 👍🏼. Location, location, location.

I have two questions: 1) Can you tell me anything about Cape Henry lighthouse? 2) How scary are the bridges to get to this part of the state?
Sure. Great questions! 1. Cape Henry Lighthouse is actually two lighthouses - one was built in the 1700s and then a replacement was built in the late 1800s as the first one was starting to fall apart. The first one was refurbished and can now be toured by visitors. The newer one is still in use as a lighthouse and is not open to the public but you can get pictures of it from the outside. The lighthouses are on the Fort Story navy base. Upon arrival, we had to notify the guards at the gate that we were there to visit the lighthouses. To enter, everyone over 16 in our party had to provide their IDs at the gate. We were then asked to get out of our car while they searched it for anything illegal. This is the procedure for everyone who enters. We then boarded a shuttle to go to the lighthouse area. I believe they kept our IDs while we were visiting and returned them to us when we exited (if I am remembering that correctly - our visit was a couple of years ago now but I think I am remembering correctly). The admission price is $10. But if you also want to climb the old lighthouse, that is an additional $4 per person for a total of $14. The lighthouses are less busy on weekdays or before 11 am (opens daily at 10 am). It is right next to First Landing State Park which we will have a video about coming out soon. As a fan of lighthouses, I think you would enjoy seeing these. 2. Most of the bridges are not bad. The "scariest bridge in America" is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel which connects Norfolk to the Eastern Shore of Virginia which is considered scary because of how tall it is and how long it is (almost 20 miles long). But most bridges are not that high up and are short - so it is over before you know it. You could use Google Maps to plot the trip in such a way to minimize use of bridges but you will have to encounter a few at least as they are necessary due to the nature of the geography.
Thank you! That is really good & helpful information about the lighthouses. I have a few videos about lighthouses on my channel - check them out if you have time. One of my happiest accomplishments was visiting every single lighthouse in the Apostle Islands, which is quite a feat because some of them are very difficult to get to and Lake Superior is notoriously rough. I have actually altered our plan to specifically avoid the Chesapeake Bay bridge/tunnel! That's why we're doing our beach time at the Outer Banks instead of Ocean City or Bethany Beach or Rehoboth Beach. For some reason, I started getting really freaked out by driving across very tall/long bridges after having kids. I can still do it, but it takes all I have not to have a panic attack! This bridge over the St. Croix is the closest one to us that really scares me (starts at about 8:52): th-cam.com/video/AJ3BUTAobGs/w-d-xo.html It's a LOT higher than it looks in the video. I just try to keep my eyes totally focused on the road and let the kids look down and out at the scenery!

The WW2 aviation museum is one of my favorites.
I live there in 1986. It was a dead beach. 1986 in no surfing, no volleyball on the beach, no dogs on the beach, no surfing on the beach and dirty. Thank God I moved away. Looks much better, but no going back. You couldn't shop at Department Stores ,like Sears , JC Penny's and ect. Sundays because they stupid BLUE LAWS. But you can buy stupid on the oceanfront, like junk, on Sundays. To many taxes. Pay to park at motels. Restaurants taxes. Tell me what you think?
