I look down a lot in this video, at the time I was filming II was coming off a cold and focusing was really hard, but I had delayed this video a month and really wanted to get it out there!

It's kinda ironic the opposite happened when the dreamwork animators got "Shreked" and it resulted in the movie being one of their best works
Not really the case with series like Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul.
Even legitimately good movies or works isn't safe from that kind of treatment either

Popular TV/Streaming series spawn ongoing memes bc people are invested in the show/community, so those are in a whole other category and didn’t quite get warped into a mocking “morbin time for a morbillion.”

Sony are the studio who were so desperate to make a franchise entirely out of Spider-man and his orbiting characters that they considered an Aunt May prequel film where she's a spy.

The most bizarre aspect of Morbius is in my opinion, and I'm honestly shocked that fewer people are talking about this, is that it is set in New York but was so obviously filmed in London. The subway fight proves it - New York subway stations don't have curved walls, that's a London thing. Also, Front Street station doesn't exist.
This begs the question: Why film in London at all? None of the film takes place in London. London is just as if not more expensive to film in than New York City, so it’s not like this was a costs issue. Did Matt Smith and Jared Harris just not want to leave the British Isles for this piece of shit movie? Was Sadiq Khan himself paying for them to film there? Are the Tories behind this? Is this some kind of ploy to amp up British film production? I am so confused, and the more I think about it the less I understand.
I lived in London for five years. I've never even seen this film and even I recognized that they were in London, not NY! I don't know why either, like you said London is INSANELY expensive to film in. Maybe it was because of Matt Smith? Perhaps he was doing another project in tandem and he couldn't leave the UK.

My favorite part of Morbius is the baffling end credits scene. It doesn’t make any sense with the information we’re given from No Way Home and they still put it in anyways.

DNA splicing is something they've previously explored with Spiderman, and the reason why it works there is because it's all explained. He can stick to walls because of spider hairs, he can swing around because he shoot webs.
With Morbius, he can stick to ceiling because the air goes wiggly. He can fly while barely moving a muscle because reasons.
It's just not the same.
I feel so bad for Matt Smith. He’s keeps getting cast in these god awful projects and yet he’s a really good actor

Why Morbius failed: he didn't say "It's morbin time"

Yeah it’s annoying. It doesn’t work for these characters. Especially cause the only “anti-hero” thing he really did was break that guy’s hand. Everything else wasn’t even morally gray at all.

Morbius has a whole comic series, like. Man, my only exposure TO Morbius is the memes, the first 8 minutes of this video, and checking what other Marvel series they had after Avengers came out and I got curious about the comics, and even I knew that Morbius isn't in Spidey's Rogues Gallery, he had his own series THEN crossovers.
This hurt me like saying the Punisher is a Captain America villain.

@@Eshtian Vampires have always been intertwined with the idea of “dark romances.” That’s (possibly) why they tend to bite the neck- an erogenous zone- and why many examples of classical vampires (Carmilla, Dracula) are depicted preying on women.
Their connection to romance and attraction is why many vampire stories give them stuff like pheromones or supernatural charm abilities.
Some writers use them as metaphors for sexual assault.
I think they’re pretty fascinating.

I think it's about the power, the danger of it. The fact that they _could_ kill you but choose not to. On the other side of that coin, the fact that they have an interest in you and are very powerful means they can also protect you.
And, since it's all fantasy, there's no real danger. It's all imagined and therefore perfectly safe.
And also having issues. That does indeed help a lot.
The only part of this video I disagree with is the statement that you're probably the only person to have seen this movie more than once, there's a great Eddy Burback video in which that mad lad watched the dang thing 5 days in a row in theaters. me and bfs saw this movie, but i need to give context. we ACTUALLY came to the theaters to see the Nic Cage movie (loved it). but we snuck into the morbius showing after it. no way we were gonna pay for it. we even brought edibles and alcohol to maximize enjoyment. we did the Nose Exhale of Mild Amusement one (1) time, and that was the extent of the emotions it gave us. it wasn't even entertaining enough to laugh at, or make us fake angry. not even worth the no money we spent on it.

There was a lot of stuff in the trailers that never ended up in the finished film. Ignoring all the Spiderman bait, there was a monologue by the doctor about "saving lives, not taking them," implying that the movie would pursue the standard vampire themes of trying to balance morality with dinnertime, which never happens in the film because Doctor Who hijacks the entire story as soon as he morbs, and they write off all the people Morbius killed as "probably jerks anyway." This may be the first time reshoots were performed to surgically remove any traces of a plot.
I always watch movie reviews on youtube when I dont want to actually watch the movie and I think I found another commentator I enjoy! Thanks for the great video!

Hey, you can't insult this movie this way. "International waters, Eastern seaboard" is a reasonably clear location -- it tells you it's the atlantic ocean in the northern hemisphere, probably fairly close to the U.S.

I watched it 4 times, every single time there is an event with my friends, we watch morbius, and each time, the movie becomes better, you start to notice the little details that are either stupid or well... stupid. This movie has no redeeming factor but it's always such a pleasant time watching it with friends wondering about how Michael and Milo's romance was scrapped from the script and how Jared Leto's hair is greasy. I truly love Morbius, it's definitely a movie of 2022

Matt Smith should have played Morbius. Not just because he's a better actor, but because he brings the energy required for a character canonically known as "Morbius, the Living Vampire". It was deeply frustrating to see him relegated to "Not Morbius, the Living Vampire" status, and he deserved better.

Would you consider reviewing “Nefarious?” It was a horror movie that I (trans kid) didn’t know was pro-life and very Christian-coded going into it. My father (conservative Christian) picked the movie.
I found it actually very entertaining and impressive in many aspects, but the pro-life stuff and Christian overtones definitely lowered my opinion of it. I think it’s still worth the watch however because of the unique way that it was shot and the compelling pacing/dialogue.
I was wigging out near the end, as I was playing Animal Crossing New Horizons while watching and was like "why is my music not the 9pm music??" lol.

I actually watched this movie (with friends) but it was actually disappointing that it was bad more in a boring way and less in a funny way 😭 I could hardly see what was even happening in the climax bc it was so dark AND the screen was covered in fast moving bats that looked like a static filter over the entire scene. I think probably the most insane part to me was the blatant ableism in all of it like the self-deprecating ableist jokes made by abled actors and milo being so blatantly evil and unsympathetic to anyone because his life sucked as a disabled person. Not very fun

it was the last thing I did as a day trip before moving out of a place I had lived at for 6 months. I was really sad to leave and the staff guy took us to the movies as a treat.
I remember being a bit scared to go because from the looks the movie was not at all what I could watch (can't watch gore, fights, action, stuff like that) and then just ERUPTING in laughter as the movie went on.
Even my pea brain with the tism on top realized that stuff was garbage and I was having the time of my life laughing about it. Great movie. Would watch again to laugh at!
I watched this movie at home on streaming and the part with being in international waters stuck with me. There was a detail mentioned about the boat’s position and I did some math and shit. Iirc, they (probably) weren’t even in international waters.

and yet again i find myself where i have to mentally rewrite history so that Matt Smith's entire filmogrophy is just Christpher And His Kind and a few brief minutes of his part in American Psycho the musical.
Can’t write off Doctor Who and House of Dragon. As a Whovian, his portrayal of the Doctor is still my favorite. He’s a brilliant actor who unfortunately gets saddled with a lot of bad movies, but don’t let it detract from the goodness of his TV show episodes.

A minor note: when you talk about Jared Letho's absolutely abysmal behaviour on set (and for good reason), you had a bit of a poor choice of words. It's not really appropriate to say "acting handicapped". There are no intrinsic behaviours that prove your physical or mental ability, firstly, but most importantly the word "handicapped" is considered by the majority of our community to be outdated and rather offensive. The appropriate term is "disabled". Depending on the person, some prefer to say: 'I'm a person with a disability' or 'I'm a disabled person' but that's mainly preference. The important part is that we don't use that word anymore. I hope this little tidbit will be useful to you in the future and I look forward to more of your content!
I haven’t really seen any Marvel stuff aside from Spiderverse (thus I’m no expert on the original comic) but, like… I feel like certain aspects of the movie could’ve been way more engaging if they were just tweaked a little bit.
Like, take the argument between Morb and Milo about the cure. To me, the cure doesn’t really seem like a cure; Morb goes from a man with a disability that requires regular blood transfusions to a man with superpowers and violent tendencies that requires regular blood ‘transfusions’. That’s not a ‘cure’, that’s trading one problem for a different, arguably worse problem. If Morb was written better, realizing that should’ve left him with this sense of dread, because he fucked up.
So when he locks himself up (which now makes more sense) and Milo comes by, the argument could be based on an emotional misunderstanding rather than just plot-mandated miscommunication. Morb took the cure, realized that he fucked up, and doesn’t want to give Milo the cure because he doesn’t want him to get fucked up too. Milo, on the other hand, gets upset and emotional because, to him, a cure is *right there* and his supposed best friend is now telling him “no”, and so he gets angry or leaves before Morb can actually explain what’s going on.
Like, it’d still be dumb-ish, make no mistake, but Milo getting emotional over something like that makes a ton of sense, and it’d put both of them in a more sympathetic light. Morb is struggling to explain that the cure is kinda bad actually, Milo just wants to cure his disability and damn the consequences; it just makes way more sense to me.
They also set it up to basically compete with Sonic 2 because they were confident that Morbius could beat it
I got an ad after the what'd ya think line so what happened was:
"So what'd ya thiiiink *AT BK, HAVE IT YOUR WAY, YOU RULE!*"
and this was infinitely better than this movie lol

I never saw this in the theaters and only watched it at a friends house as a joke and it wasn’t too incredibly bad. Definitely not the worst thing I’ve seen but not something I’d watch again.
I still haven't even watched this movie, simply because I was actually really hyped when I first saw the trailer for it, and I was really disappointed when I heard how it performed. It's on my watch list, but I just can't bring myself to actually watch it -- kinda like the latest Matrix film.
It looked like it might have been able to at least be in roughly the same ballpark as Blade or Blade 2, which were pretty decent films. Not great, but not bad either.
Anyhow, nice review. I dig your sense of humor.
