  • In this video I demonstrate how I transfer beer from my regular plastic fermenter to a keg Oxygen Free using gravity. I also give you a list of parts you need if you want to copy my method for yourself.
I'm still setting up my processes to both capture and produce brewing content for my channel and my format will likely change in the future. I hope you enjoy watching my brewing process and if you have any questions you can contact through the links below.

Great video. I'm proud to give you the 100th thumbs up! Been working on a hazy session ipa recipe and I want to ferment and transfer closed, just like this or maybe a loop back from the purged keg. Cheers!

America here asking about the clear plastic keg. Where did you get that? Are they common? Nice for seeing volume remaining. Negative aspects?

That is a curious setup ... I don’t normally feel comfortable with a small 1 inch (30mm) tube being inside of two connections, it clearly works fine; but just makes me nervous.

Ive had no problems with my setup so far. The 1 inch solid plastic tube fits very tightly into the fermenter and the silicon tubing plus it was designed to be this way for bottling wands. I could put a hose clamp on the silicon side for safety sake but its tight enough that im confident it won't come off and it has no pressure on it anyway

Filling the keg with CO2 won't reliably push out all the O2, it's more effective to fill it with water and drive it out with CO2. I will add that this is only really needed for beers with lots of hop flavour and aroma.

Instead of opening the pressure release valve have you considered not using the CO2 cylinder and instead connecting the keg's gas post to the fermenter bung hole?

I have done it that way but don't now, although you could easily do that as well. I just prefer to use the C02 tank instead as I know its 100% C02 whereas the keg may still have some residual O2 but that's also probably just me being a bit paranoid!

i was going to purge my keg then do loop i think that should work the same as the co2 in the keg is getting pushed back in to the fermenter will be my first keg. theen i am going to the pressure fermenting last time with the old fermenter

Really keen to try this method, thanks for the video! I had a quick question if thats alright...I've never transferred using a spigot, only ever a siphon, so I'm just wondering, how common is it for the spigot to clog? I'm brewing a NEIPA (hence trying to find an oxygen free transfer method) and (aside from the yeast cake and trub) there will also be 2 hop bags in still in the bucket by the time it comes to cold crash and then closed transfer....so I'm wondering if this (along with regular yeast cake/trub) ever causes an issue with this method of closed transfer.

I haven't had an issue so far, I have a sediment reducer on the inside of the spigot which works really well. The only way you'll find out yourself is to give it a go!

So the keg is purged and filled with CO2?

The thing you have to be concerned with is hot side aeration aka boiling wort, after the wort is cooled there is very little danger from oxygen to your beer, otherwise, when you aerate prior to pitching your yeast you would ruin your beer.
