Mine was wrapped up and bundled in plastic. So common as it is to make such finds, the locals started calling them "Square groupers". There is even a restaurant of that name now. Good place to eat.

I had a gun stolen from my house, I didn't know it was stolen, the cops recovered it in a sting and I got a call from the cops asking if my gun was stolen. They got the records some how that I owned the gun, it wasn't from me.
Fun fact. Once in water, you have zero chance of getting finger prints off of something. Withing seconds you lose the oils from the fingers. ALSO 22 is not a center fire cartridge, its a rim fire.

These comments 😂. First, H&R does not make a 10 shot .22 revolver and never has. It's a 9 shot. My 90 year old mom has one just like that in her purse. And yes, there is absolutely no way there are any fingerprints left on that little pistol (until now)... Also, even water soaked old ammo can fire. I sure wouldn't clear it with pliers, especially rim fire. I would have just taken it home and dropped it in solvent a couple days. Very lightly clean it up with soft brush. Scrapping away with that knife blade made me cringe. Basically, it's scratching off the serial number since it's all rusted. The lady that replied that birth certificate, etc is on a data base. Nope, not unless Florida does things way different than Louisiana and Mississippi 🙄 (i just searched and no. You do not have to register pistols in Florida.) So many mistakes made over a rusty ole .22. Once cleaned, I would call the numbers in. Go get a good magnet 🧲 and do some magnet fishing off that bridge and anywhere in the canal. No telling how many you'll find. I'm not saying how many I've found 😂. "No, you do not need to register a pistol in Florida: Florida does not have a gun registry.
