Hi Simon DCC concepts are now aware of this defect. Send the point motors back and they will replace them free of charge. I have had all mine replaced that went defective for this fault 6 off. Once all point motors were replaced I have had no repeat failures The fault has been identified to a chip supplier. All new point motors do not have the problems. I have 60 DCC point motors on my layout and I would recommend them Great way of solving the problem with bulbs
Just for info, the bulbs you used are a twin filament brake and taillight bulb with a 21w filament (brake) and a 5w filament (tail). The single 5w filament version will be numbered as a 382 bulb.
That seems nuts. Feels like a defect in the design of the cobalts that they blank or change their address without the physical switch on the program mode. Putting the motors in a separate power district would need to be designed in at the start but also feels a bit odd as a choice , the motors should be immune to a short on the inputs.
I see alot of comments suggesting the product be returned as faulty. what a waste. However Simon, maybe you can get DCC concepts to pay for your fix instead.
This problem has been around for over a decade. You'd think the decoder manufacturers would have included an inbuilt fix by now. I prefer analogue switching using the old Fleischmann track symbol switches.

Run all mine on a separate bus so never had this problem but could see it being a right pain to fix later
Have been thinking of using these in the new section, thanks for your insight into this issue.
Morning Simon must say I have been a subscriber for a while now love the layout a good running session you need to do now mate stay safe Sion

Hi Simon, I had this problem with some of mine, they have a lifetime guarantee and if you contact DCC concepts they will replace them for you 👍🏻
Yes I had 1 or two that did this DCC Concepts swapped them for me. I have them on a separate bus now anyway.
Thanks for the information!!!
