MY STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO INSTALLING AND POINTING BRICK SLIPS | Kerry Lockwood

- Hi,
Here's my step by step guide to how I installed and pointed a brick slip feature wall in my bedroom. I'm no expert, this is just the way that I did it and the tools that I used, I thought this may be helpful if you're looking to lay brick slips yourself.
Here is what I used:
Brick slips: www.kucidesign.co.uk/product-...
You can also buy all the equipment required from Kuci design and I think their prices are very reasonable. Otherwise he's what you need:
Tile adhesive: www.amazon.co.uk/Everbuild-RA...
10mm spacers: www.amazon.co.uk/Wolfcraft-29...
Spreader tool: www.amazon.co.uk/Vitrex-VIT10...
Bucket X 2 : www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-31687...
Mortar: www.amazon.co.uk/Builder-Merc...
Grout bag: www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-6...
Gloves: www.amazon.co.uk/Showa-310-Gr...
Safety goggles:www.amazon.co.uk/Honeywell-10...
Dust sheet: www.amazon.co.uk/Dust-Sheets-...
I hired a grinder from Max tool hire to cut the tiles. You could also use a tile cutter.
Any questions, please leave them below.

As a bricklayer I can say you've done well, just remember to wear eye protection and ear protection when cutting with a grinder! Also always put your foot on what ever you're cutting, makes it a lot easier.
I’m a bricklayer and I’m impressed with the finished wall. Not so much with your hubby’s singing 🤣. Good job 👍🏻
Well done Kerry! My Dad always told me to give things a shot even if you’re not sure….you’ve certainly done a great job.
Fabulous video Kerry. You've done a great job of fitting and pointing our Rustic Red Brick Slips! Very impressed
No animals were harmed in the making of this video. Looks fantastic!
I always loved expose bricks,it has transformed your bedroom beautifully, well done
I found your video because I’m thinking of doing this as a feature in a room. Great video! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, good luck with your project
Nice finish. Will use some of these tips for my project.
So glad that I found your video! I also ordered the Kuci design brick slips and installed them this weekend - hard work but so worth it. It really helped to follow yoir video step by step. 1 tip for anybody giving it a go, if the mortar gets stuck in the grout bag then add a small squirt of washing up liquid to the mixture and it helps it flow through the bag :)
Chelsey Quayle Great tip! Thank you
You are inspirational, great can-do attitude, a great video, and a brilliant job in the end. Well done you
I am in awe of your patience. Great job ❤️
Thank you 🖤
Wow that looks really nice. Brilliant job.
Amazing!!! You’ve made me want to try it myself! Best video I’ve seen! Thank you!

So cute, so informative, and lovely! thank you, you're an inspiration!
Well done Kerry ... it’s look good 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks, I've got a fireplace to do tomorrow at work. Really helpful!
Great result, nice walk through of each step👍
Love it! Thanks for posting such a helpfull tutorial, I tend to worry about doing tiling, agonising over making things perfectly straight and professional but your gung-ho attitiude inspires me with confidence just to dive in and get on with it. Brick walls look better when they're not perfect! I've got a whole wall with two doorways to do, I was thinking of using a tile backer board as a base instead of applying the adhesive straight to the keyed paintwork. Not sure if this is overkill...I'll definitely use the piping bag technique!
Great effort. Looks amazing!
Great job. Just on with my brick slip project and using your vid as a great guide.
That looks great!
Absolutely love it x
Hands down amazing I thought it was broken and built from scratch 👌
You are an inspiration Kerry! You’ve done an amazing job. You remind me so much of Louise Redknapp by the way!
That was the best brick slip video I have seen. I hope my attempt will be as good :) thank you
Beautiful!
Looking good Kerry… and the bricks.
Great video! Thanks 👍. I'm about to take delivery of my Kuci brick slips and will be installing them this week. Was feeling a bit nervous about cutting them lengthways but you've put my mind at ease so thank you!

Great video presentation and you have done a fine job. I am impressed and will be doing a similar job shortly.
Looks great! Thanks for making the tutorial. I'm going to use this to tackle a wall in the basement! Love that you didn't pull out some fancy $500 tool midway through ;)
Nice vid 🤙🙌
You should be very proud of the result 👏👏👍
Thanks Kerry, you have given me the confidence to have a go myself.

This is so useful Kerry, slightly terrified of the angle grinder though!
Great video I hope all your hard work pays off and I hope the landlord sells it to your guys at a discount price.
hit me right in the feels with the early mention of a hair appointment and cinema trips...! great video though :)
😂 Thanks!
Good job
Good idea to get that cracked carlite finish off the wall too
I love it! Great job! Now, where did you get the small fireplace? So glad I found your channel...Love your style.
Thank you. I found it on Gumtree x
Hi . Great job but do you get much residue /dust off them as thinking of doing this in the kitchen but have black work tops x
💯👍👍
Happy
Hi, thank you for posting this video, i am planning to do a kitchen wall using your method. Do you remember what colour was used on your walls and on the cupboards? Thanks
tamara hi Hi, it’s was cornfirth white by Farrow & Ball x
@@kerrylockwood_ Thank you Kerry x
@@kerrylockwood_ you have too cute pics
Happy belated
You are very talented. It looks amazing. Can I ask, do you worry that you may be asked to leave your rented house in the future?
Hi, no it doesn’t really worry me, I’m very much a live for the moment kind of girl! 🥰
@@kerrylockwood_ Me too x
Soo brave hahah
How much did the brick slips cost you?
That looks great but please wear eye and hand protection when cutting the bricks.
Looks Brill
You said the pointing was the hardest part, how long did the pointing take vs the fitting? Am doing something similar myself and am at that point. :)
Chris Cannon Hi, it doesn’t take that long but can just get messy. My advice would be to use a piping bag and keep the mixture loose, keep adding a touch of water as it thickens. Once you’ve piped it in then allow it to rest for around 5-10 mins before you push it in and smooth over. Good luck.
You be careful with that grinder, Kerry!
Good job but please use safety goggles and clamp down the brick somehow before cutting them. I bought a tile cutter for about 40 pounds it's much easier and safer to use because you get a more precise cut and you hold the bricks on both sides whilst you cut them in the middle.
Will you come and do my wall please 😀
cricky i think id sharpen up my tech before using a grinder!
Revamp GSY You do you and I’ll do me.... if everyone waited until they were experts in life then nothing would get done!
