This song is right down Willie's alley, it could have been made for him! He's 87 now and still touring, what a legend he is, I guess I've been listening to Willie my whole life. Talent beyond imagination, he writes, plays, sings, any genre he can make his! My opening number, first set, was always "Night Life" and I sometimes closed on that number also. I didn't even realize Willie wrote it until someone told me long ago! Carry on, Willie, for a few more years! I fell in love with Willie the first time I heard You Were Always On My Mind and have stayed with him through the years and through every genre. He is a national treasure. He did things his way and we’re all the better for it. We’re blessed to have him all these years. It will be a very sad day when he’s gone but , we will always have his music and the memories of “The Red Headed Stranger”, who entertained us as only he could.
Thank god he's still alive and kicking and apparently very healthy because no one will fill his shoes. It's impossible. But, what wonderful music we have and will always have. .
