I thought you were English Heritage members? If so, entrance to Rievaulx Abbey would be "free". It is one of the very best Abbeys to visit and has a visitor centre+cafe and a museum on site. Whorlton Castle is just a few miles from where I live. Byland Abbey & Coxwold not too far away. You drove past Helmsley with its Castle (English Heritage ) and nearby Duncombe Park. Whitby Abbey (also English Heritage ) is an absolute MUST visit. And at Whitby with all its Dracula connections (it's where he came ashore after The Demeter was shipwrecked on the rocks below the Abbey), Captain Cook connections and steam railway. The thing is that if you visit this area (North York Moors) or the Dales (Fountains Abbey near Ripon and Middleham Castle), your year's English Heritage membership would have paid for itself before you even got out of the local area, with so much more to see in County Durham and Northumberland.... Good to see you in North Yorkshire, though! And glad to see the nose is coming along nicely.

Byland is just one of seven or eight monasteries that Henry VIII decided to destroy in Yorkshire, the best one standing being Fountains Abbey. OK, I have a serious question. As a person who has never drunk tea or coffee, and doesn't really do caffeine, I don't understand how you can drink tea late at night right before going to bed. Doesn't it disrupt your sleep?
For some strange reason no amount of caffeine seems to have an affect on Tony. I however am super sensative to it, so I drink decaffeinated tea. If I do drink tea with caffeine in it, it has to be early in the day as it gives me palpitations and then makes me jittery and agitated for hours😬

Byland abbey is on the caravan route avoiding the big hill 😂 so we had to slow down and let the kids see it close-up but never stopped. Parking the wobble box was a bloody nightmare 😉.

OK, I have a serious question. As a person who has never drunk tea or coffee, and doesn't really do caffeine, I don't understand how you can drink tea late at night right before going to bed. Doesn't it disrupt your sleep?
For some strange reason no amount of caffeine seems to have an affect on Tony. I however am super sensative to it, so I drink decaffeinated tea. If I do drink tea with caffeine in it, it has to be early in the day as it gives me palpitations and then makes me jittery and agitated for hours😬
Caffeine won't stop me sleeping Dara, not after 50 years of drinking it👍🤣. Mind you, maybe if I didn't drink coffee or tea, I'd look about 30🤔.,

Byland abbey is on the caravan route avoiding the big hill 😂 so we had to slow down and let the kids see it close-up but never stopped. Parking the wobble box was a bloody nightmare 😉.
