I'm listening to this while taking a walk at a foggy forest trail at dusk and I couldn't have imagined a more suitable soundtrack. I literally stopped during my walk to write this. Hats off! 🙌
Your work is inspiring friend. I just bought a Syntakt after a long break from music, prior to the break I was all in the box. This is the kind of work that motivates me to discover more. Thank you
Awesome work as always mate! You are really showing the potential and capabilities of the syntakt. After listening to that the syntakt is next on the shopping list.👏👏👏
Did you figure it out? Syntakt doesn't really do glide, seems you can fake a glide/portamento a bit with the bend control and osc mod, but still hard to get a real pad sound out of it. This tracks base layer sounds mono and with some additional tracks thickening it up, maybe even chord machine, but its hard without a lot of attack/decay/verb hiding the fact that notes won't glide? I may be wrong and I'd love to know if it can and I am just doing things wrong still.
Is there a class where they teach you to knob turn by slowly rotating a knob while letting go? Like a tap rotation technique. I keep seeing it more and more and I wonder if im missing something?
Absolutely gorgeous piece. That you can get this all out of one box is astonishing. Clearly Elektron have done a brilliant job with Syntakt - plus your musical and sound design genius of course ! Keep them coming. 👍👏🏻🙏 love that chordal bed. Lush. Is that done with the chord engine ?
I recorded the video in my garden and was able to use a power cable. Normally I use a ripcord cable and a power bank but it is too weak to supply the Syntakt. I'm already looking for another solution
Soooo good! I was thinking of getting an Analog Four + Analog Rytm, but you may have convinced me to just get the Syntakt instead. I have a ton of synths and drum machines, but no Elektron machines yet. Is Syntakt a good Elektron instrument for beginners?
Thanks a lot !! I would say Syntakt is the the perfect first Elektron device. In comparison, the Analog Four is MUCH more complex and represents exactly the other end of the spectrum (only the Octatrack is even a bit more complex/different).
@@substan_music thanks so much for this info! How about the Analog Rytm Mk2? Have you experimented with it? If so, how is the learning curve on that compared to Syntakt?
Thank you so much !! Unfortunately it will take a while until the track ends up on Bandcamp. substan.bandcamp.com But all my patrons get the music immediately even in 24bit. www.patreon.com/substan
You can definitely do something very similar with the Digitone. Sure... you're limited to the 4 tracks. When it comes to ambient, the Syntakt cannot hold a candle to the Digitone. For me, his strengths are clearly in the rhythmic/percussive area. That was the justification for me ;)
@@substan_music Excellent insight Substan. I was thinking the same. Also you understand the Electron workflow very well. No learning curve or integration issues!
I don't know if you'd wanna do that... digitakt / digitone / syntakt are different from each other, enough to have all three from the looks and sounds of things. No sampler in syntakt, and also the fm engine in syntakt isn't as deep as digitone.
@@LJ-gb5hz not sure if you asked me, but for example the Digitone. Very similar usage wise, but sports very capable fm synthesis. But in the end, you are the one making music, not the device. I have heard beautiful ambient soundscapes with a cheap guitar and an even cheaper delay/looper pedal, so it is hard to tell what device makes sense for you personally.
Thanks for your answer and recommendations. Guitar & Pedals are certainly forming a beautiful ambient machine. I was just curious to know what substan thinks is a better ambient machine since he wrote that the Syntakt is not the perfect one.
I would love a Syntakt with a keyboard.. but more so like the A4 Keys than the Digitone Keys. Having said that… with only the ability to play monophonically, it’s almost pointless.

These are the videos I like to see!!
Very nicely done!
Great atmosphere and texture!
🙏
Amazing! Cinematic. 🎬
Good!
Great use of the syntakt, very far away than 99% of the demos I've seen. This is for me one of the best syntakt demonstrations. Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot ... very appreciated !!

Great to hear! 🙏
It’s great that demos (such as this) are emerging that showcase the broader sonic capabilities of the Syntakt. Very nice.

Beautiful!
I’ve been homeless since I picked up the pulsar 23. Now I have all the room in the world for the syntak.
More Syntakt greatness. I really love the atmosphere you’ve created here, nice tension and a lot of sonic contrast.
Thanks a lot Steve 🙏
Sounds so inspiring, thanks for the vid

@@damiensimper no I'd actually forgotten about my comment. I have polysynths Inc digitone so not a massive issue for me.

I have to admit that looks a bit weird. But I don't think about how I turn the knob...it just happens. Somehow that feels right at this moment.
@@substan_music Looks funny and effective at the same time. I might start trying it.
Damn...
With this and a lone guitar, you could match Pink Floyd pal, this wee bit of kit you've nabbed gives a pure groove that transcends.
Syntakt Ambient beats Syntakt everythingelse any time, any place. 🌸EPICNESS🌸

nice video! are you powering the ST with a battery? which one?
I recorded the video in my garden and was able to use a power cable. Normally I use a ripcord cable and a power bank but it is too weak to supply the Syntakt. I'm already looking for another solution

@@substan_music awesome, thank you! keep going! :)
Very beautiful. I think this is something you could also achieve on the DIgitone? Trying to justify this device when I already own a Digitone.
This: 12 Tracks; Digitone: 4 Tracks....
You can definitely do something very similar with the Digitone. Sure... you're limited to the 4 tracks. When it comes to ambient, the Syntakt cannot hold a candle to the Digitone. For me, his strengths are clearly in the rhythmic/percussive area. That was the justification for me ;)

nice video syntakt sounds nice ! what camera did you use to record this video ? nice quality as well !
Thanks a lot !! Its an old Canon EOS M
I will sell my digitakt and digitone for buy this incredible toy, nice track as usual

I wouldn't. Obvious reasons. Syntakt is a perfect symbiosis for the other two. At least keep the Digitone!
Don’t sell them - add to them 😈
yes I agree, for sampling I use a Octatrack ;) and for FM have a old DX7 !
@MICROLABS ... so true !!
Beautiful. Will you be making a sound pack for Syntakt?
Thanks !! I'm not sure yet.. I don't want to promise too much. A soundpack for the Hydrasynth and the Digitakt is currently in the works.
@@substan_music nice!
Wow, I did not expect this level of ambient mastery to come out of this device. I imagine you had to push it to its "harmonic" limits on this one.
The Syntakt is certainly not the perfect ambient machine, but I think there are still some sweet spots to be discovered.
What would be a better hardware machine for ambient music in your opinion?
