Portals for Claris FileMaker Beginners

Hi Calvin. Is there a way to print a single record from a portal? The case is this: i am designing my own emr for my obgyn solo practice, I made a portal for follow up visits for the same patient and put a email and print script buttons in case the patient wanted a report of that visit. I made a printing layout with the patient id and demographics from the main table (patients) and added the fields from the portal that come from a related table called ControlGyn. It worked fantastically… until the same patient came for a second visit. I filled the second row with the new health problem and clicked print but the printed report is always from the first visit (row) no matter what I change (print current or records being browsed). Tried several options that I found here/there but none worked. I am totally new (and ignorant) in FM and Ive been hitting the walls for 3 weeks now. Any suggentions? Hope you do understand what I tried to explain here.
