However I can understand that she wants to stay with her 4 children so she needs to sacrifice for them by staying with the ex husband. But if I am her, I will not go back to him. He believed the lie that the other woman did without even investigating it for 9 years. Three years of their married life and 6 years when the ex wife left him.

To be fair, most of these dramas portray the entirety of Chinese society is being completely morally bankrupt and unethical. I watched a drama earlier today where in the first 30 minutes a woman is raped and never goes to the police. Of course, her children are kidnapped and she is left in a building to die of arson, she doesn’t go to the police; She returns and her parents kidnap her children and sell her to another man to rape, and of course she still doesn’t go to the police; literally not one person gets in trouble for murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, rape, or any other of the thousands of illegal things that they do. Also, most of the time the rest of society just stand there, looking as if this is completely acceptable and normal behavior.
All of the society portrayed in these dramas are unethical and unscrupulous, petty and shallow, money and status hungry, and quick to judge with zero evidence. Let’s asp not forget that in a room full of people they were all fully prepared to allow and watch this man sexually assault the female lead-because they are all a bunch of sociopaths.
So what gives him the right to tell rescue workers who to save first. Despite the fact it looks as though she could have crawled out of the hole herself, the story ended there for me when the hubby made that choice. In my mind FL went on to have great success in her life found true love elsewhere, left the others in her dust, they all went bankrupt, and lived for ever with guilt and regretting choices they made. Okay.... but this story is not that good. It's the same story line we have seen over and over. Yeah they got back together. But comparatively ML is less abusive and less toxic, he is just dumb. And FL's identity reveal as the renown perfumer was quicker than many other identity reveals I have seen, also she is not that much of a pushover, she did stand up for herself even though she didn't do it properly by being little more stronger, it's just love made her blind. The problems are the way 2FL wasn't punished as she should have, that really pissed me off and the ending is soo rushed FL forgave ML way to quickly without making him pay the price for his deeds that's so sloppy . Otherwise comparatively this is okay

Barely realized he was wrong. And never showed believable remorse or growth as a character.

OK, I think I will give my 2 cents worth here. Maybe I am old fashioned BUT (if I have to take this movie seriously) yeah he chose the FL2 to be saved. However, remember though he was not aware that his wife was the other girl and (as per usual in these dramas) according to what he knew FL2 had 'saved' him!! Secondly, even after 6 years she still had feelings for him and, the way I saw it, he had feelings for her. The children loved both parents and ML1 and FL1 realised how much they cared for each other, and in reality always had, sooooooo me being who I am would accept living with the man I love and completing the family with our four children ..... I think it takes a stronger woman to forgive than to go off in a huff with pride up their a$$ and have the whole family hurting !!!! just my 2 cents worth. (side note here never humiliated,was violent or abused her)

B) regardless of who he chose to save (and I get that he didn’t know his wife was there-although he DID ignore her urgent phone call) - he still CHOSE to divorce his wife for the mistress. He could not have actually loved his wife to do that. So I disagree with your thought that he “cared for her”.
If he loved her even a little bit-if he respected her even a little bit; he would not have unilaterally decided to divorce her no matter what the evil mistress had done for him!
He seems like a very shallow man who thinks that being saved by somebody is equal to loving them. To me that means he has no idea what love is.” And is unworthy of the FL’s love. Also, I still have very little idea of why she had feelings for him-at all! When did she ever receive love or affection from him? It’s only a happy ending if they actually loved each other and could get past the trauma and humiliation be inflicted on her.
(Yes, I say “on her” because honestly he didn’t suffer at all during this drama. He kept his power and wealth and status and never really apologized or humbled himself to admit his mistakes)

What kind of drama is this. He believes everything an outsider ofcourse a woman tells him. It also shows his lack of interest in fl and the children. Don’t forget that he was also a terrible father! He allowed his daughter to be viciously abused right under his nose by the evil mistress that he divorced his wife for! Wow this story is really infuriating for me , I don't like the plot and how it ends, the fact that ML was forgiven so easily is really annoying because now really , one of the basic principles is trust in a relationship, even if there were misunderstandings they still need to choose each other all the time, otherwise anyone who comes and claim to be the saver or done something good for the ML ,this FL will be in trouble.
