1/6/2021 - Loram Maintenance of Way Cars in the consist of CN A408

- Illinois Central SD70 1002 and 1036 lead southbound CN A408 through Centralia, Illinois. At the end of the consist were Loram maintenance of way cars. I have never seen M.O.W cars like this before. Enjoy!

I might not be correct but it looks like it might be for laying welded rail or picking up welded rail that's been replaced. But I'm not sure what they would use the little tram that's on top of those yellow rails for. Definitely an interesting piece of equipment!
I’m sure you’re right - welded rail carrier. Not sure about the tram tho. Workers’ use during rail replacement?
@@martinross5521 maybe so. I've only seen trams like that on the concrete tie replacement machines.
@@BAHolmes I think it’s the Loram Raptor Rail Replacement System. You can see it at work on their website. There are two trams which are the operators’ control units. It can carry 50 lengths of rail 1/4mile long each and is fully self powered. Impressive.
