I wish we had gotten the 1989 batmobile like this. But instead, they make it a limited drop, it sells out instantly, and it now costs as much as the UCS set
Same. I love the huge detailed models but it is really hard to justify dropping $250. I would love to have more batmobiles at this scale with a display stand. I really hope we get an Arkham series bat mobile at some point
I feel like LEGO should have included Robin instead of Joker and then branded this as an 18+ set since there would be no ‘conflict in a box’. Younger kids aren’t going to be as into the Classic TV Series as grown adults anyway.
This is in no shape or form my cup of tea, being a fan of neither collectibles or 60's batman, but this is a gorgeous build. I spent the review comparing it to the real life version, and I'm very impressed with the level of detail they were able to squeeze in. The unique front of the car is the most impressive. Great stuff as usual, Jang!
Yeah a lot of reviewers don't really focus on pricing outside of the US and Canada. I totally agree. Personally I think £30 or 30€ should've been the maximum for this. It's a great set and Lego knows it'll sell but £30 is already more than the US price and we've gotten used to that. Going even higher is taking the mick
I just got this kit as a present and really loved it. But you are so right when you say about the Robin figure being sorely missed. I'll go and buy an aftermarket one to add to the kit. Maybe some of the Lego lighting kit companies will make a kit for this model, too. Thanks for the review.
I really did enjoy building this set last night. I never owned the Batcave but I can see how much of a vast improvement in building techniques this one has. I also agree that $30 is a fair price, especially considering the display stand and the ability to change the model, very considerate and basically a win-win for everyone. If this was the only TV classic series set we got for a while, it would be disappointing that there was no Robin counterpart. However, I could also see Lego producing a set months later in the classic TV series that could use Robin piloting a helicopter or a bat boat. The batboat would be interesting as we have not seen that in Lego form yet. I could see potential upgrading the helicopter from the Batcave. Having watched the 1966 movie and only trace episodes of the TV show, I could also see the penguin or the Riddler included with a robin set. If it was the bat boat, perhaps the projector buoy and a pirate periscope for the penguin. If it was the helicopter, The Riddler could have a Polaris rocket. It may be specific drawing examples just from the movie, but they are also fitting for those environments, and parts-wise would make sense for an equally $30 set.
Holy Lego Review, Batman! OMG so awesome. As a fan of the show (running home after school to watch it) this is amazing. I love that fact that we get a Mini-fig of Cesar Romaro as The Joker (check out his mustache!). Who would not want a Lincoln Futura Lego Set? This is a must and mine is on it's way to me now. This will make a nice stablemate to my original Corgi Diecast Batmobile!
Same. I bought the original Batmobile separately on Ebay and overpaid for it because I never thought they'd release it separately after the Batcave. Glad they did though. Hopefully this becomes a thing so we can get more minifigure size Batmobiles like the BTAS one, the Tumbler, the Arkham Asylum and Knight ones, etc
I LOVE the joker, and I agree when I got this set I was kinda surprised and disappointed there was no robin. Maybe next year they'll do the bat copter with Robin, I would absolutely LOVE to get the riddler and the penguin in a set
Solid agreement on the missing Robin. He was as much a part of the show as Batman, and contributed equally to its legacy. I like having a bad guy, of course, and Joker is as good a choice as could have been made in that respect. But Robin not being included seems unforgivable. But there's one thing that I want to stress as being an excellent feature of this set. Not only did they think to include the additional parts to remove the stud launchers, but they made sure that the trunk of the car was spacious enough to store the unused parts (along with spare accessories). The fact that the set remains self-contained in either configuration, so you never have any spare parts floating around, is absolutely praiseworthy.
I hope this set would lead to a release that includes his rogues gallery, Robin, Alfred and Batgirl. Missed out on the Batcave but I'm definitely not missing out on this!
Hey Jang I figured out the best thing to fix the bat ray (little gold thing on the hood) is I used a single round gold Stud in replacement of the gold clip and vent piece and it looks pretty good to me and it’s not as big and awkward
Just bought and built this set & love it - I didn't need the stand (tho it's a nice touch, but stickers and me don't get along) *BUT* as much as I wish I had a Robin, I'm REALLY Glad I have the '66 Joker
Now that you mention it, there is a way for this earth's Robin to return. Other than the Batmobile, the only other vehicles from the show to have been made are the motorcycle and the Batcopter. They could do that. But there is one vehicle of note that they have not done yet: The Batboat! They could easily have Robin return in a Batboat set. Perhaps with The Penguin appearing as the villain!
I absolutely love that the Joker figure includes his moustache, it made me grin ear to ear when I got the kit. Like you, I would have preferred to drop the stand and add in Robin.
£35 in UK but only $30 I really like the look of this and the red and black looks great, I wish was not over prices UK but overall a very nice build but I'll have to wait for a sale.
I hit up Bricklink to build the bat cave set version of this vehicle and the original minifigs were eye-wateringly expensive, so I subbed them in for Bartman and Radioactive Boy Milhouse CMFs that I happened to own. Works perfectly 🙂
I see this improved classic Batmobile and instantly want to modify it. The LEGO Movie 2 had a "Mad Max" Batmobile that was never for sale which used the older version of this vehicle and it looked awesome!

I would have preferred the Robin over the stand, and to a certain extent the Joker. But I REALLY like the Joker figure. I was fortunate enough to be reminded by someone on Instagram that I should get my Robin fig before they went up in price. They are now like, $50 on Bricklink. Insane.

The stand and the stud shooter removal is amazing but the stand doesn't need to be included if a Robin figure is given. Overall a great set and an even better review. Love the new channel and I can't wait for all of the Star Wars summer reviews. If you are still reading this, have a great day!
they have to release either a Batcopter or Batcycle that has Robin and Penguin. Hopefully we get both sets and can get Riddler, Catwoman, maybe even Batgirl, Commissioner Gordon, and Chief O'Hara?
I have the Batmobile from the big Classic TV Batcave set, but modified it based on some good MOCs I had seen. I was pretty content with it (although it feels too long), but after seeing your review, I'd like to get some pieces to update mine so that it's even better.
I'd have added on and gladly paid an extra $5 to have Robin included. Hope we can at least get a smaller set featuring Batman and Robin on the 66' bat cycle.
I’m okay w/o Robin. Getting a Cesar Romero joker is more than enough compensation. I think we’ll see Robin with a Bat-copter set (with bat-shark repellent) next time. As for the stand, this will live in my office and I will turn it thoughtfully during my endless zoom meetings.
Thank you Jang for using your platform to speak up against some of the ridiculous additional prices we have to pay in other territories in comparison to the US. For example the UCS Star Destroyer in the US is $100 cheaper than the Falcon and yet here in the U.K. they are both £650.
I grabbed this at target on sale for 25USD. I love the joke, looks awesome, LOVE that the mustache is visible. I too thought it was odd that it wasn't Robin in this set with Batman. I don't have it displayed on the stand so yeah, I would have preferred Robin to the stand, to Joker...He's one of my favorite Jokers but it makes no sense to have just him in the set. Maybe if he had his own Joker-copter set to go along with this and the copter be given as must detail at the Bat-mobile?
While I would have obviously loved to have got a Robin, if I had to choose between him and Romero Joker, I'd pick Joker, as I feel like getting a close enough Robin to the Sixties one won't be too hard, and it's nice to get a villain. I'd also choose the stand over him, as I really like the whole Plaque thing, and hope there will be more Batmobiles like this in the future.
