At the time, this video would officially be Lindsey Buckingham's final appearance with the band until Bill Clinton's inauguration in January of 1993. They officially reunited in 1997 for a live album /concert, "The Dance."
Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were members in John Mayall's Blues Breakers. When Eric Clapton departed the band mid-1966 to form Cream with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, 18 y.o. guitar prodigy Peter Green, who had temporarily filled in for Clapton on some gigs, joined full-time.
In '67 Green, dissatisfied with the band's musical direction, left to form his own blues band. He persuaded Fleetwood and McVie, who had been "let go" for repeated drunkeness during performances, to join him.
It was Green who decided that his new band should be named for its rhythm section, and so "Fleetwood Mac" was born.

I know you probably haven't been ushered towards any of Lindsey's songs, but you're not alone in this ... MANY reactors seem to always overlook his songs, and they were every bit as popular (maybe even more so at the time) as Christine's or Stevie's. Songs like, (from the eponymous album, Fleetwood Mac), Monday Morning, Second Hand News, World Turning, I'm So Afraid, Crystal, Blue Letter were all incredibly awesome songs, as well as (from the Rumours album), Go Your Own Way, Second Hand News, Never Going Back Again, The Chain were all major hits of theirs, and all sung by Lindsey.
He also did songs like Big Love (from Tango In The Night) which was very popular. However, his voice is so unique that it's hard to pair it with his face, so I think this is why people just don't focus on it (it doesn't seem like he would be able to make those sounds). Anyway, he wrote, rearranged and directed most of their hits, which included Stevie hits, turning them from something the band didn't want to do into major hits for her and the band. This also doesn't cover the MANY songs where he was co-lead singer, where multiple voices did the job at the same time.
I think you NEED to delve into his catalog, especially the songs mentioned above, because, if you don't, you're seriously curtailing your listen experience and musical knowledge. Lindsey was phenomenal, as you have noticed when reacting to his solo work. Let's just make this clear, Lindsey was RESPONSIBLE for the resurrection of what was Fleetwood Mac. He BROUGHT Stevie WITH him into the group when he was asked to join ... in fact, he insisted they do so before he would agree to commit. He sculpted their (and her) careers ... he was a musical genius ... and NEVER played with a pick.

Having two incredible talented women who could sing and write in a band together could have been such a source of competition or friction. But their individual talents were unique but also blended together in an amazing way. From what I understand from interviews, they were not necessarily best friends, maybe more like sisters and were beautifully supportive of each other in and out of the band.

They were completely fractured at this point. Mick, John and Stevie were heavy into their addictions and barely contributed to the album when they bothered to show up and as a consequence the recording of the album dragged on for 17 months. Buckingham had to roll his 3rd solo album into Tango and produce it to help Mick out of bankruptcy. Buckingham called it the worst recording experience of his life and left the band because he couldn't imagine spending a year on tour with them. Christine wrote Little Lies about Lindsey - knowing he was going to leave.

Yes, it sticks in your head. And yes elements are extremely "catchy". Christine was affectionately known as "the queen of hooks" meaning she generated melodic phrases that "hook" the listener - in a good way of course. And two corrections: 1) the band always had Mick Fleetwood (drummer) and John McVie (bass) - hence the band's name; but the early incarnation did not have Stevie or Lindsey. Peter Green was songwriter and guitarist in the early days, and I believe Christine came aboard somewhat later. It was then mid 1970's that Stevie and Lindsey joined and the music changed significantly then. Older Fleetwood Mac is entirely different than the Stevie/Lindsey era. And 2) this incarnation of the band has 3 lead singers and 3 songwriters. Hence they had a rather wide range of tones, feels and even genre. (for the Fleetwood Mac with superstar status - but there are two different eras of the band) If you want a sense of the earlier incarnation watch this tribute to Peter Green, which features David Gilmour on slide:

This song (Indeed the entire album) will forever be associated in my head with a journey to a football match here in the UK.
2 hired cars travelling from Swindon to Newcastle 1988 and as we only had a couple of good cassettes between us, the Rumours tape (As well as some bottles of beer) was passed from car to car as we drove close to each other at speeds of around 65-70 mph on long straight stretches of road (Old Roman roads actually) which were thankfully quiet enough to do it as traffic was in both directions, we didn't use motorways on that journey.
Every time I hear Little Lies it takes me back, even though it was over 30 years ago now, and I marvel that we never once touched cars and lived to tell the tale.

In all honesty, no band can hope for longevity without being able to grow, change and explore. Plus, many songs by bands that write their own material reflect what was going on with their own lives at that moment.

Sam, you probably heard the song on a commercial. I don't remember what product. Christine also had a solo album with the hit "Gotta A Hold On Me". React to that sometime.😊

    Every point in their history
    Fleetwood Mac is exceptional
Stevie and Lindsey have been the Driving force in their current
    Form
    In the beginning there was
    Peter Green
a 21 year old Guitar God
    Who
Had just left the band he had replaced a renowned Blues Guitarist
    Eric Clapton
    In
John Mayall and the Blues Breakers
    To form his own Band
With Fellow members of the Blues Breakers
    Mick Fleetwood and John MacVie
He called the Band Fleetwood Mac after
    Mick and John
Wanting little part of the spotlight that pursued him
Peter writs so many amazing Songs
    “Albatross”
    “Oh Well”
    Perhaps his most famous composition
Is most often thought to be written By Santana
Carlos Santana revered Peter so much
    He barely changed a note

Chrissie had the better voice. Stevie's voice was distinctive. Their bass player (John McVie) was an awesome bass player too.

    1. I disagree on one count: Music videos being started in the 80s.
I’d look to “The Big Bopper” and his work from the 1950s. (Yes, same entertainer who’s life was cut short next to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the pilot Rodger Peterson in 1959) 😊
    2. I’d also look into “Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley in 1957 on the topic of music videos.
    3. Another cool original song by the Big Bopper” is a song called “White Lightning”
    4. This song forever will remind me of a lady named Melanie Gibb (Lori Vallow Daybell case/Annie Cushing TH-cam video short called “Melanie Gibb in disguise” As well as my mother, father, sister and the whole immediate family setup.
