so many god damn videos hating on cyclops with either blatant misinformation or crap out of context. glad to see someone going against the hate train. The whole summers/grey family tree is full of awesome characters. So after havok, jean grey, cable, Rachel grey, and x-man, i like storm. Wolverine was interesting back when he could actually be hurt enough to be put out of commission or when he was being written true to his character. example being getting punched into orbit for not listening to cyclops warnings of the potential danger they faced, or putting him in a more positive light when he rescued the X-Men from the hellfire club after getting his ass handed to him first.

Cap is the shield for “humans”. He has rarely ever given a shit about the struggles mutants face. Scott was both the spear and shield for mutants.

There is also nothing that suggests the Phoenix was going to destroy the Earth other than the Avengers saying that's what was going to happen. The Phoenix isn't just going to destroy anything on its own. The Phoenix needs a host and it was coming for a host. With how much the Phoenix seems to be obsessed with the human race I find it very hard to believe the Phoenix would want to destroy Earth. Also Hope was able to control it, bring back mutants and then safely release it. Cyclops was right. Cap and the Avengers were wrong.

Cyclops is simply one of the most complex characters to come out of Marvel tbh. He's been through a lot, and has changed along with it. I love his revolutionary phase post AVX, as he picks himself up, dusts himself off, and goes to work because he knows there are others in need of his help.
Unfortunately I fell off keeping up with the X-Men once Bendis left. He seems cool in the new Hickman House/Powers of X, though!
@@fleshmonk I don't blame you, stuff with the X-Men has been pretty on and off in terms of content, then Cyclops died off and returned in a very weird run that felt forced though it had good moments with our boy in it. Hickman's stuff really has put him and the X-Men in general back on track, though!

That comic made Cyclops my favorite, too. I still get chills when I read the end of the Giant Size issue at the end of the run.
As a kid who always liked the x men, I always felt bad for cyclops because he always gets pushed to the side. and as a 3 year old I thought, “at least cyclops is actually a good leader. Cyclops is cool”. Then I watched x men evolution and then cyclops became my favorite.

Cyclops is my favorite and was before I watched evolution but that show was epic and now he is the unchallenged favorite x-man.
one thing it was cool about X-Evolution is that, they made Cyclops a much more fun person

To me Cyclopes reps the badass who remains composed. Him and logan remind me of almost like a superman/batman dynamic where let’s be honest..one simply trumps the other but allows the other one think they are better. IMO Supes.
Cyclops let’s Logan be the bully and think he is better simply because it is the leader in him, and higher morality built in him to not only keep the peace but remain the standard of what true power looks like controlled.

The visor lets him control the intensity of the beams, for when he wants to choose the damage/force output, as well as controlling the width and height of the beams, for when he needs a large, wide beam for crowd control or a tight, narrow focused beam for piercing, puncturing, etc. He can cause heat through friction against a surface with a very powerful beam, but most of the time it's due to inconsistencies in writing. Havok, his brother, however, does produce heat with his plasma blasts. He doesnt produce concussive force, the heat from his blasts can cause what appear to be concussive effects due to jump in temperature when his blasts hit things.
Regardless of how it works, Cyclops' real strength is in his ability to strategize and chess master the mutants in the X-Men, knowing what skills and power sets work best in a variety of situations. He's the Captain America of the X-Men. Skilled fighter with a unique ranged weapon that he can bounce around the battlefield, with his real strength being in his ability to lead and implement battle strategies with his soldiers.
Cyclops is so great, its disappointing how they always treat my favorite xman in the movies and comics.

Video needs more views. Scott Summers has been my favourite since I was a kid, mostly because I had to wear glasses too, so on a fundamental level I related. Then growing up, I liked him because of his good, albeit stern, demeanour to do the right thing and lead by example.
Recent comics have done him dirty, I feel. But that’s almost par for the course these days. I hope the MCU X-Men films give him the Captain America treatment, making him likeable and iconic again.
The new JOnathan Hickman run of X-Men seems like it'll help put Cyclops back in the limelight - for comics at least.

Nah, the writers were lazy and literally did write cyclops properly for those Fox movies. They barely got Logans character down, actually they didnt even portray his character properly. Hugh wasnt angry enough or giving that dont' give a g*** attitude. lol

I think it's silly to say Wolverine sucks to give Cyclops his (overdue) due. Wolverine respects chain of command and competence above all and is more than capable of recognizing a fellow alpha in Scott. That's where their entire tension comes from, two alpha dudes who are nearly impossible to move from their positions when they're convinced of their own riotousness. They both rule and the reason each of them are as good as they are. Iron sharpens Iron. Scott is the consummate tactician who must take every possible outcome into account and make a sober plan of action detached from emotion. He's basically autistic-Captain America. And that rules. He's there to carry the burden and lead from the front, not to be liked. And that's why Logan respects Summers despite their differences. Logan wouldn't be as good of a teammate without Scott and Scott wouldn't be the leader he is without Logan. Just look at the pre-Krakoa stories and see how much untapped potential Scott has with the team that never quite manifests until he must prove himself against another alpha in Logan. Cyclops, Wolverine and Storm are the best members of the team by far because they all poses top qualifications of what it means to lead and do so in very different ways.
I wouldn’t describe Wolverine using the word austistic. He’s just a lone wolf with bad attitude but maintains a code of goodness and honor

It sucks because James Marsden was perfectly casted for the original X Men trilogy as Cyclops and that character was constantly sidelined. If the script and direction allowed it, Marsden would have made a great Cyclops.

Every kid typically starts out being enthralled by wolverine when first exposed to the world of x-men, myself included, and then its when i got bored of that bandwagon that i found there was room for, or a void to fill, that cyclops inadvertently ended up occupying, this was a transition that took place throughout my years as kid playing X-Men 2 Clone Wars for sega genesis and, coupled with the beloved animated series, it was a game that proved itself to have aged like a fine wine because my goodness how well that game served to make me a bigger fan of beast and cyclops when before i was all about the wolverine and nightcrawler
X-Men 2 Clone Wars on sega genesis, that game where Cyclops can spam midair jump kicks to glide across half of the entire stage if you start from a high enough perch somewhere ^_^

movie-wise (as that was my second introduction to the character, after evolution... and evolution scott was my first ever crush lol) i feel like james marsden was perfect for the role but didn't get the chance to *be* cyclops. those movies were just everyone being sidelined for logan screentime, i mean, come on! i would love to see a new live-action with cyclops actually being the LEADER and having his real personality because somehow with 7+ movies we've never seen that... they all just complete ignore his status in comics & in the cartoons and make him a minor character. i'm rewatching evolution rn and constantly marveling at how this 20 year old kids cartoon can tell x-men stories so much better than the last 2 big-budget movies in the franchise (3 if we count new mutants? but i don't want to... but i enjoyed dofp so i'll leave it at those) i want to read actual x-men comics but i've always found the idea daunting, as there's so much content and so many different & distinct storylines to choose from... so i'm left with these half-assed movie representations that lead to the character misunderstandings lmao

I think they need to play on that aspect of him and how he feels about it in the films- being the leader and feeling its his responsabily to be the leader, but he can't even control his powers and isn't that what humanity is afraid of. If anyone is a target (besides magneto) it is him so in many ways he may be seen no different as Magneto. One may be able to control his power but when both of them use their power they destroy everything in their ways.... If you can cover all that in a film(s) I think it would really flush out the character to the masses.
I don't think Wolverine "sucks", but at the same time I do think he's overrated.
