Some context: Colombia is the second country in the world, after Syria, with the largest number of internally displaced people (i.e. People who have to leave their homes and towns because of inminent violence, and flee to the cities or different areas inside the same country). The beginning of the film is picturing this reality, with abuela and abuelo Madrigal having to flee along with their community to a safer place.

I've watched the movie a dozen times, and over 50 reaction videos. It's so interesting hearing what rappers, vocal coaches, musicians and producers think in addition to regular folks. Overall, I find watching (and re-watching) this film to be sooo healing.

I'm right with you on that. I'm not that interested in reaction videos, but I make an exception for 'Encanto' and a few others. (I only subscribe to one reaction channels, Mia Tiffany, because she concentrates on older films of the 1930s/40s/50s, the ones I grew up watching on television. She's also doing the Jeremy Brett 'Sherlock Holmes' series.) Getting different takes from people in different fields gives a more complete overview.

Fun fact: When the rats are doing the whole "TV thing" when we meet Bruno, during the "telenovela" part, the female rat switches with another. It's to reflect the fact that telenovelas often recast characters out of the blue loll

Dos oruguitas (the song where they explained how exactly Abuela got Casita and their gifts) always makes me cry. My mother tongue is Spanish so I understand the lyrics and it's sooo touching. I was crying with you at the end and I always do with all the reactors even though I watched the movie. This movie is beautiful and amazing.

You are the first person I have seen who had the same reaction as I did when the town joined in with "lay down your load, we are only down the road, we have no gifts but we are many, and we'll do anything for you". That part just sealed the deal for me. They showed that they would be there to support the family the same way the family had supported them, and that they believed in and loved the Madrigal family because of who they were and not because of their powers. I was already crying but I absolutely lost it when they joined in.
Then when they gave her the door knob, I imploded. I couldn't handle it 😂 this movie leaves me with a headache

I loved watching this with my daughter and my grandchildren. We all loved the music and the storyline. I amazed us how well everything worked out once the pressure to "perform" was taken away. It's true, we are more than our gifts. We are all special just because we are. This was a fun way to get that across to my grandchildren. A very good life lesson.

hooray! I'm so glad you got to experience Encanto in full and I knew you would appreciate it for the wonderful story that it is. I am like you: Disney movies always make me emotional and this one was no exception. as a granddaughter of a latin american immigrant, this one hit especially hard for me particularly during Dos Oruguitas. let's just say that I was an emotional mess during like the last 15 minutes of this movie haha and when they give Mirabel her own doorknob?? I lost it! she didn't need a gift because she IS the gift. genius! you better believe I have this soundtrack on repeat always. ❤️

Just a little bit of FYI in case no one else has told you this: The actress, Stephanie Beatriz, the actress that plays Mirabel, is also the actress that plays Det. Rosa on Brooklyn-9-9! This is actually more her real voice than Rosa was!
Delores was telling everyone the whole time that Bruno was still around. She always talked about him in the first person, in her solo in WDTAB, she's constantly moving Mirabel around so she doesn't notice Bruno up on the catwalk, creeping around. In fact, you can actually see him bc he has a green glow around himself. And when it zooms in, right between them at "Do you understand?", Bruno is happily dancing in the space between them! Also, she *literally* says at the end of her piece "I can hear him now"!
AND the biggest giveaway that no one paid attention to was when she told Mirabel that the only ones beside her that was worried about the magic were the rats in the walls. Delores *can't* understand what animals say. How would she know what they were saying? She was hearing Bruno talking to himself.

    • @ajandrianjafymusic
      @ajandrianjafymusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I just got an image of Bruno putting on one of his shows with the rats, I can’t imagine how confused Delores would be 😂

Isabela was the most personally relatable character for me; I wish we could have seen more of her struggles, as well as the rest of the family's.
The music in this movie was amazing, and I really appreciate that there was no villain. Isabela and Alma acted antagonistically, but only because of their own pressures, traumas, and struggles. The family loves Mirabel, even if they aren't the best at showing it and sometimes unintentionally exclude her. Mariano isn't Hans 2.0, but a genuinely nice guy who bears no grudges. The townspeople didn't turn on the family, but showed up to help them.
Instead, the struggle is against the pressures family puts on you, and the pressures you put on yourself. It's about the importance of communication, being open with each other, and not being afraid to ask for help. And it's about learning what is truly important in life.

Since you loved Abuela’s singing voice, you should react to Olga Merediz‘s Paciencia y Fe from In the Heights. She provided the singing voice for Abuela in Encanto and played the Abuela role in In the Heights. Beautiful stuff.

I like the way you get into the music, feeling it as it evolves. All the best music gets deep inside you. For me, a lot of opera does that, though different genres speak to different people.
Mirabel's longing actually manifests itself earlier, in 'The Family Madrigal', when she describes Isabella as 'the perfect golden child'. However, it's not really stressed, so it's easy to miss.
We have a bit of foreshadowing in 'Waiting for a Miracle', when Mirabel sings 'I can't heal what's broken', which, of course, is exactly what she does in the end. It's worth noting, I think, that when she twirls in this song, golden dots radiate out around her, much like the flowers do when Isabella is introduced in 'The Family Madrigal'.
I don't know if it's been pointed out, but Abuela's melody line in 'The Family Madrigal' is the same as 'Dos Orugitas'. Also, her participation in passing stones in 'Family Madrigal' is echoed in 'All of You', as Casita is rebuilt. Speaking of mirror images, I love that, just as Mirabel guided the nervous Antonio at his Gift ceremony, he guides her to the front door of the newly-rebuilt Casita. There's also Casita forcing everyone out of the house as she's crumbling, and pulling them back in at the end.
Lin-Manuel Miranda gives us a perfect musical pun in 'We Don't Talk About Bruno'. In the second half, when the four main melodies are sung together, he's referencing a Renaissance song-form called a 'madrigal'.
Disney seems to have a knack for casting the perfect people for their roles. In 'Encanto', some were actors who weren't necessarily known for their singing ability (Stephanie Beatriz and Rhenzy Feliz, for example), while others were well-known singers with little acting experience (like Adassa). Yet each one delivered a well-rounded performance. I think you'd enjoy the behind-the-scenes videos, if you haven't seen them already.

I've watched the movie and reactions to it so many times I've lost count now (I cry every time Abuela's part comes up), people pick out so many different things it's fascinating. I'm impressed you managed to get so much of the music in the video without bad things happening. The fact that you didn't say much but let your face tell the story is really interesting, I guess that's common in music react circles. Not a bad thing, you conveyed a lot with your face.
As many times as I've watched this, there's so many things to explore in this movie. Since you're really into the music, I'll give you some tidbits. In We Don't Talk About Bruno, you can see him three times during Dolores part. In the same song, the end where they're all singing different lines is called a Madrigal!

Colombia is one of the megadiverse countries in biodiversity,[155] ranking first in bird species.[156] As for plants, the country has between 40,000 and 45,000 plant species, equivalent to 10 or 20% of total global species, which is even more remarkable given that Colombia is considered a country of intermediate size.[157] Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world, lagging only after Brazil which is approximately 7 times bigger.[15]
Colombia is the country with the planet's highest biodiversity, having the highest rate of species by area as well as the largest number of endemisms (species that are not found naturally anywhere else) of any country. About 10% of the species of the Earth live in Colombia, including over 1,900 species of bird, more than in Europe and North America combined. Colombia has 10% of the world's mammals species, 14% of the amphibian species and 18% of the bird species of the world.[158]
Colombia has about 2,000 species of marine fish and is the second most diverse country in freshwater fish. It is also the country with the most endemic species of butterflies, is first in orchid species, and has approximately 7,000 species of beetles. Colombia is second in the number of amphibian species and is the third most diverse country in reptiles and palms. There are about 1,900 species of mollusks and according to estimates there are about 300,000 species of invertebrates in the country. In Colombia there are 32 terrestrial biomes and 314 types of ecosystems.

Mirabel's gift making her thoughts become reality. To the point of fooling all inlcluding herself into thinking she don't have one. Despite the fact that it's displayed in front of them repeatedly - mainly her thinking of going over to somone or somplace throughout the film and teleporting to the place/person but no one but the audience noticing cause she doesn't think she's special or that others see her as special so they don't. Nervous at gift ceremy when she first walks away from the magic giving candle, after touching the door it vanishes, thinks she was rejected by the magic it flickers and dims. Thinks she is the only one able to save the miracle & then she is. Finnaly has sees herself and her family for who they are finnaly gets her door - restores the magic.

Ok what exactly is Antonio's gift? Most say, oh he can understand animals or talk to animals, but if that was the case they would have stood by his side even when the powers where gone. After all they might not understand him anymore nor can he understand them. But they know he is friendly and have permission to be around him and with him. So is his power full control over wildlife? Or the ability to make wildlife more intelligent when around him while making them like him more?

Yeah the kids all get their powers when they're 5 years old their fifth birthday the candle will put up a door for each of them and then they have their ceremony text the candle and touch the door and that gives them their power Mirabelle's failed and it's been 10 years.

Glad you finnally experienced this magic. Well if it comes to Disney i can tell you lots of tittles you should check, but idk what you alredy seen. Encanto is i think my favourite Disney movie of this centaury, yup its new but the messagess, the lyrics the story details, and other thing i could write a book hear make it so special and i am still wondering if they go so deep with that yellow butterflyes because there is a book by colombian writer, Gabriel Garcia Marquez "One hundred years of solitude", , there is a charácter ( Mauricio Babilonia) wherever he goes hundreds of yellow butterflies accompany him, and when i first watch the movie it hits me in the scene when Dos Orugitas song is playing and the text change from mariposa to mariposas like Abuela alma is not alone anymore she suffer much but she has famili and she can share problems with them she rise them, she do everything and anything to make safety for her family, so i dont blame her that she was so strict but she know now that she isnt alone.
So for the begining if you like Lin Manuel Miranda i recomend Moana other movie from 2016 that Miranda work for Disney different experience but also fantastic story first 3D movie from the creators of Little Mermaid, Raya and last Dragon fantastic my favourite Disney movie is Hunchback of Notre Dame i still remember being 12 and sitting in the cinema in 1996 hearing this amazing opening for the first time i have chills when i thought of it even now. I always cry on Disney movies. Than from newest Coco, Big Hiro 6, Frozen I and Frozen II dont judge by one song that stuck in peoples heads and maby anoys them its beautiful story and i dont like sequels i didnt want Frozen II but they did it perfectly now story is completed. Treasure Planet, Tarzan, Brother Bear, live action Jungle book animated one too, let this be the begining of Your Disney jurney, and now non Disney, Klaus (its a christmas movie with amazing animation and story), How to train your Dragon trylogy (my fave is part II), my very precious Peanuts the Movie i love Peanuts, Smurfs the lost Village (I also love Smurfs but there are 4 movies in 3d this is the only one you should watch because this are real Smurfs, all Asterix movies from old to nev 3d one, i am cartoonist there are also many beautiful anime not Naruto etc but really touching one is nominated to Oscar this year called "Belle" it looks amazing in cinema. You should check many movies from studio Gihlbi its like japanese Disney yes you will cry. just pm me and I will show you the world of animation, i am also very interested in music different kind of music so i can recomend soundtracs instrumental ones love them, also singers from different part of the world. I have hobby collecting songs from animation in as many languages as i can find tan i made that kind of video from my other acount will you go to the end How Far I'll Go - One line multilanguage (37 languages), th-cam.com/video/K49NBv1oIr0/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=kamarza, my harley queen fan video th-cam.com/video/QQ9jSJtTXbg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=kamarza , and Shirley Temple tribut th-cam.com/video/Bz0stJ8dlcg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=kamarza also moder disney pprincess video th-cam.com/video/fCCwZ7VbcsA/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=kamarza, now look multilang in different style th-cam.com/video/ipbr5Xvdn5A/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=DisneyMusicVEVO
