  • How does Big Daddy Chaz do it? The San Antonio poker player often comes up to the Austin area to play at The Lodge Card Club, but it's unlikely he's ever had a luckier trip than this. Chaz absolutely punishes his opponents in this No Limit Hold'em cash game, and he does it in the cruelest ways possible.
    The Lodge Card Club is a members-only social club in Round Rock, Texas (just north of Austin). With 24/7 cash games and 2+ tournaments per day, The Lodge is THE place to play poker in central Texas. The Lodge Live is streamed every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 3PM CT.

    In the first hand, Chaz was 2% when the money went in, second hand he was 27% and last hand he was 14%. When the money went in on all three hands, he was .0756% to win all three, which he did. You only have a slightly less chance of getting hit by lightning in your lifetime and you are 3 times more likely to be born with 11 fingers or toes. So yeah, Chaz runs pretty good.

His only good calls are 76dd which is still nearly a coin flip so not even that profitable, 76o (only fractionally worse than suited diamonds), 89, worse hearts and maybe 54s. I want to say this is never a stone cold bluff either, I think Chaz is better than to bluff shove that flop after a check raise after SB limps pre-flop.

      Maybe in a normal live game at a casino but these guys know what they're doing. More than likely you're going to run into a set and then you're pretty far behind with a flush draw. @@devinblox Actually statistically speaking you're never that far behind with pair and flush draw. Even against a set you still have 31.92% equity.

    Why the slow roll

  • @joemiller95
    @joemiller95 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Obviously, something that is going to happen one in fifty times can't possibly be the "worst in history". It's actually pretty common because there are fifty hands in less than two hours, up to fifty or eighty tables in a room, lots of hands have multiple players in them, some of whom have relatively low probabilities like this. Stuff like this is happening many times in a night in any poker room with enough activity. This really wasn't anything all that special. The guy had to hit either KK or QQ or KQ or QK or JT or TJ as long as the T or J wasn't a heart. So there were actually two groups of outs, one of which contained four outs and the other containing six outs, though the second one had to hit one of three on the first card and one of a different three on the second. That's actually a lot of possibilities.

    • @bobbywhite1645
      @bobbywhite1645 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Taking KK against QQ on a QQ2 board and winning is much more impressive

    • @joemiller95
      @joemiller95 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobbywhite1645 Yes. Now THAT is a bad beat for QQ. When did that happen? Is there such a hand that was played and documented? KK had 2/45*1/44 =2/1980 or 1/990, roughly one chance in a thousand to win that once the flop and players' cards were known. I can't think of a more unlikely situation to win than that. Can you? Maybe preflop one could create a scenario if one said that two of the flop cards were known but the third was unknown, like QQ knowing the first two cards of the flop were QQ and the third was not known, then if someone had, say, A, and we knew that the three remaining board cards had to be Aces, the A would have 3/46*2/45*1/44=6/91,080 or 3/45,540 or 1/15,180 in equity. That would probably be the most extreme thing I could imagine setting up on purpose to make the worst bad beat possible, but there is no such situation in poker where we know only two of three flop cards. So, the situation you describe must be the most extreme kind of bad beat possible in poker. Nothing with a straight flush could be any different because it's the same thing: two cards runner runner needed and by then there are exactly two possible (in the worst case when we set it up to be as unlikely an outcome as possible). Can you think of any even worse than that which is actually possible?

    • @bobbywhite1645
      @bobbywhite1645 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joemiller95 You described that perfectly and very impressively! I was just making the point that no way a 1 in 50 is "the worst bad beat in Texas poker history" and in fact wasn't even CLOSE to the worst! And you're right I was thinking about runner runner straight flush coming in to beat quads or a flopped boat but its the same odds, has to come 2 perfect exact cards on turn and river
      Nice to know its 1 in 990 or 0.1% to win.
      Imagine playing 1/2 and knowing your outs, you'd need to get $2 to win $2000 for it to make sense to call!
