Finally the video I was looking for! Given how quickly this material breaks down in the summer heat, I'm surprised it took me hours to find a how to on this 😂 Thanks!
@SleepyCrane-xx5cw I'll be replacing them out soon. Had a worse issue arise. I didn't seal the hole that runs the hood release cable while running my 0 gauge wire to the back of the ride to run an optima rear battery with battery isolator as well as other accessories and volt meters for last years car show. And because I installed waterproof leather inserts that covered up the floor I didn't realize all the water coming in through that hole.. 😬 yeah. New comfort control module installed and I am working on replacing the door lock actuator and checking all the relays. Not fun. Due to be replaced anyways but still. Was my bad.
Great video! Thank you! Is there any technique for reattaching interior vinyl to the door panel without removing the vinyl piece? Would injecting a small amount of adhesive through the vinyl, then applying pressure, be a workable option?
This looks amazing. If you broke the tabs off to add the upholstery, how did you get the panel back on? Was there enough plastic to poke through the panel and melt back into place?
I'm doing this on B5.5 Passat and glue is absolute PITA to remove. I've tried nitro thinner, I've triex Sonax glue remover, in the end i have to use a knife and scratch off everything...
Great video....Did I miss it or did you not show the most important part which is how to anchor it to the door again..... Thank you for showing video is helpful
Paul Iascau's studio Yup,am sa incerc...mai demult am schimbat plafonul la un Opel Astra H Caravan,cu vinilin si banalul prenadez si mi-a iesit bine...acum am sa incerc cu ce mi-ai recomandat tu. Multumesc !
Hi! I just found your video, 3 years later as you made it! :-) What is that blue handheld tool what you are using to remove the inside part of the door panel? Regards
Hi. The only thing i can not see on the video is taht any foam under the fabric? I'm planning to do it on my car but all the fabrics i was looking comes with foam on it and i don't know if the door panel needs any or is it just simply the fabric glued on without any foam under it? Thanks if you take the time to answer this question for me.
Sauce Alex I did not have to remove the factory glue brcause the original material had come off the panel alone... But Tessa has a special spray to remove the glue
I've been trying to do my doors and I have a mk4 gti and the fabric I got kept bunching up so I need to get different fabric any recommendations and how to keek it from bunching up around the curves?
I melt the excss from the plastic tabs from the outside in and I was left with big tabs, so after I finished I put the upholster panel back and I used the soldering iron to melt the tabs to reattach it. And to reattach the panel to the door I tink it has some plastic pins and some clamps
Thank you for your reaction. However, your panel looks like to be made of a different material than mine. Mine is a wood/paper like structure and yours look like there a kind of ABS plastic.
Salut.De unde as putea sa cumpar si eu material pentru fetele de usi mai elastic ? Am luat unul si nu se intinde mai deloc si acum caut altceva dar se gaseste cam greu

This came out amazing. I am going to try it myself. What did you use for the carbon fiber look on the door handles and the center panel?
Thank you! A cousin who has a car vinyl wrapping company used carbon fiber vinyl to wrap them in vinyl

How did you secure the upholstered bit back to the door card?
I used a soldering iron to melt the plastic bits from the back
How did you attach the insert back to the door panel since you broke off the tabs?
I left enough of the tabs so I can melt them in place

How do you re attach the fabric part to the door panel when you cut the tabs off?
Great video....Did I miss it or did you not show the most important part which is how to anchor it to the door again..... Thank you for showing video is helpful
I kept the small plastic tabs and then melt them on the panel to fix it to the bigger panel
The panel was fixed to the door with the plastic clamps or tabs and bolts

Hi! Sorry I couldn't answer sooner, I glued the material directly without foam. The car comes from the factory with foam.
Damn you couldn't speed it up a little, I almost saw something that I could use!!!
How did you remove this old glue of the old door trim?

what materials and products did you use to remove the factory glue?

You have to try to stretch as much as you can... I had some wrinkles in the fabric, but I tried again and it works
And also try to glue it little by little so that way you have more control
what glue is that? the one you used.... I could use it with fabric right? (:

Can I use any material? Did you just glue the door card back in to the door panel?
You should use quality materials. the door card has some plastic clips that I melted on the back of the door pannel with the soldering iron.
