The only anime character ever to bring tears out of my eyes at his death. To me, he’s the single greatest pirate/character in the world of one piece till date. Roger may have been the most legendary pirate because he found the one piece and became the king of pirates but THIS man right here had the one piece of his own, his family. And for me, the treasure of family is above every other treasures. And fittingly, the greatest man died protecting his family. Respect ❤️
Whitebeard was completely able to find the OP and become the pirate king, there was even a time when Roger revealed the OP's location to Whitebeard so he could find and become the next pirate king. I guess Whitebeard wasn't as ambitious as Roger. Roger was really the crazy type like Luffy taking on adventures and strong enemies. Don't get me Whitebeard must have had his share of battles but he looked like he was more interested in making a family and just a lay back kind of guy. Might be the reason why Whitebeard didn't become the king of pirates. I might be totally wrong as I have read very less of the manga and have watched only the anime.

Garp is as strong as whitebeard but when they got older they just lost their haki power, if u watch whitebeard vs roger in manga then u will understand how strong whitebeard haki’s was , he was a damn beast, in marineford, we didn’t see that kind of power at all cause he was old and sick, he only used his fruit power and even when he used, it wasn’t as strong as when blackbeard used it, so its so clear that due to his age and sickness whitebeard lost half of his original power or maybe more
He also used Haki at marineford ,it were just visualised differently! You can see his Bisento shaking when he striked the marines attacking him
he still used haki tho its just that it wasnt visible because if he didnt have haki Kuzan wouldnt have made a hole in his chest so he wasnt in contact with his Bisento and if he didnt have haki he wouldnt be using his bisento against Akainu cause hes a logia type user

WhiteBeard is by far my favourite character in One Piece, amazingly written. But for me the most powerful scene is the one at the beginning, where he comes on top of the ship and sees:

Almost whole marine army
He sees all this and the very first words he says are:

In that moment you cannot but to give him respect and bow to the man!!
