  • Discover the differences of a GIA and AGS diamond certificate and how they grade the Cut of a diamond. Both GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and AGS (American Gemological Society) diamond labs are the top 2 recommended labs for their high standard and consistency in their diamond gradings. Find out more about how these 2 diamond certificates compare with each other, and which would be more suitable for you.
Besides the certificate alone, do remember to check on your diamond's optical symmetry, proportions, tools like the ASET (Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool) scope yourself, and learn as much as you can on the advance things on the other 4Cs that is not stated on these certificates.

I've seen enough of your videos to become condensed. The JannPaul standard is excellent. Accounting for light leakages using ASET really helps you separate a superior diamond. This was your best video yet!

This was such a wonderful video! My jeweler has a machine you can see the “hearts and arrows” on my diamond and now I know why they are so beautiful.

    Fantastic video!
What do you think about GCAL and their 8x grading? Is it the real deal or does it also have issues? Thanks

My jeweler (GIA trained) says hearts and arrows are a standard made up by the diamond industry to make one pay more, that they have no real bearing on the quality of a diamond - you can get a great diamond that doesn't have hearts and arrows. True?

Hearts and Arrows are a standard that is appreciated mainly by East Asian customers. I myself, work in the diamond industry and can tell you that it makes almost little to no difference once it is set in jewellery but as a loose diamond it might have a slightly brighter sparkle.

Chinese consumers in general are just shallow minded. They ask which one is the most expensive and buys it. Thats it. No technicality involved.

Wow. A poorly cut diamond could still be graded excellent. Even from GIA. Crap!
