"Pastoral" for Solo Piano by Wayne I. L. Davies

This is a short tranquil piece for solo piano or harp. It is 'programme music' in nature and is based on tertiary form. The music begins with a bell-like figure representing the call of Evensong at King's College, Cambridge. Whilst walking through college daydreaming, a lyrical theme, representing a reminiscent recollection of ones hometown in Wales, enters ones mind. The music of the middle section depicts the calming, yet evocative, nature of the Welsh countryside and its beauty in sunshine or rain. As the music enters the last section the bell-like figure returns as my daydream ends.
