Yea I'm sure Deadpool will pick up from The Marvel's downslope.
I still think Marvel’s issue is that post endgame, they got spread too thin with the Disney plus content. Throw a pandemic in there(which hurt the storylines if Multiverse of Madness, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and most likely others), and you’re just in a tough spot. Let’s not forget Chadwick’s death in there too.
And the firing of Gunn.
And a CEO who took away creative control and gave it to a bunch of bankers and then said crank out as much stuff as possible.
true all this just compounds...the real test is if they can somehow right the ship in the next few years or if it just continues to sink...and i think it all starts with nelson peltz pushing the right buttons getting things moving, Disney is like one of those failing restaurants on gordon ramseys show and they need someone to come in and clean house and fire a lot of people who dont make the cut...
Agree all 3 points. Gunn being fired was the biggest mistake Disney did, and I'm glad they go GotG3 done, but sad that Gunn is no longer with the MCU. Feige and Gunn together would been a great team.

There is also the fact that Chapek put so much pressure on Feige to make so much product that Feige couldn't manage the quality in the past few years
I personally do not buy that as the reason for the decline of Disney. But I do appreciate you replying with a thought out and reasoned point

@@pkthe2ndhokage188 What was the total time Chapek was fully in charge as CEO? Hint, it wasn't very long. Who was leading Marvel from Iger to Chapek? Hint, it was still Feige in charge of Marvel. Feige has to answer for the poor direction of the MCU.
@@txag shhh, they don't want critical thinking here
While yes some movies haven’t been my cup of tea, it be stupid asf to fire the person who built the entire MCU.
Yes, Feigi was part of the beginning of the MCU. However, as he got more and more control over Marvel, the quality kept decreasing. Other factors may be at play, but there is a clear pattern here.
Bro where have you beeen he got ALL of his power taken away ever since Covid he barely got it back a few months ago….
The first Ms. Marvel and Black Panther made over a billion each. Disney didn't need to do it but how many black leads or female leads in an MCU film? Not many and a nice change for once. I would love to know what message his talking about.
Odd how all the racists and misogynists just went to see those movies. Almost as if people did not care as long as the movie was good.

😂I love when he says that
I guess Peltz just revealed his own hand, he knows and understands nothing about films. It’s unfortunate.
He knows how to make profit which is something the MCU has lost the ability to do by putting out quality films and content
@@stichhavoc88 True. However, He kind of revealed he doesn’t know (understand) much about the movie business the minute he started questioning Feige tho. Even I know that was a dumb move.
@@christinemikhail7088 no questioning Feige is a valid point. He’s not questioning the past he’s questioning his record of the last 5 years when Feige has soley been in charge. As lest we forget Feige wasn’t soley in charge during the reign of the MCU’s success
@@stichhavoc88 I thought there was a mandate by the other CEO to pump out as much content as possible. I also thought that under the previous guard, a lot of rights had been stripped away from studio heads that they previously had. Did quality change? Absolutely. I do think that Bob Chapek made a lot of decisions that may have affected the outcome as it is today. If you think about it……. It’s kind of when everything started to go downhill.
@@christinemikhail7088 Bob Chapek isn’t innocent by no means you are correct there. However many of the things that also caused issues during his tenure were instigated by Iger before his departure. The loss of quality was a product of both Iger and Chapek as both of them pushed for ALOT of content to be made for streaming. D+ is one of Iger’s biggest issues during his tenure as he wanted it to be ready to compete against Netflix etc in a short amount of time. Marvel started to have issues before Chapek took over post endgame it’s been a steady decline. We must also remember Feige had to get approval from the marvel committee during the most successful years of the MCU. From phase 4 and on it’s been Feige in charge, he is the one who hired inexperienced writers, directors etc to helm multi million dollar productions and while some happened under Chapek, his infamous same day and date release on D+ one of his glaring missteps, many were already under way during Iger they just released during chapek’s tenure.
This is why we need John in these spaces. He backs his POV w/data and facts and not unfounded emotionality and rage. Don't retire, John, we need you.
Seriously,
When he retires we’re fahkd
@@rudyzamora5397 Yep..😐
The rants are entertaining
@@pkthe2ndhokage188 also true. Lol
His takes are VERY emotional. He literally is known for going on rants. He’s not using data, he’s using straw man arguments like he always does. He picks and chooses when he wants to bring nuance into the scenario to support his own agenda which is to support all the bs identity politics. Its not brave to back it, its cowardly to sit by as a company destroys a brand and spit in its fan’s faces that helped build that brand.
It's not diversity that makes a bad movie: it's not enough investment in the script, it's a bloated budget, it's a lack of risk taking. A black woman playing your lead has nothing to do with it.
But when you prioritize diversity hires over story and people that can tell great stories, it DOES matter. The director of the Marvels was a black female, you CANNOT sit there with a straight face and tell me that she was the best person for the job. Disney knew she wasn’t the best option, but they hired her because she’s black and because the leads were female. Her background in comic books was fan fiction, that’s hardly any concrete experience. You guys can deny it all you want but Disney and Hollywood in general clearly has an agenda that’s hurting their brand. Denying it only causes them to continue to produce terrible stories.
@crazycriz5000 Or hear me out, sometimes you think they'll be great for the job, but then it doesn't turn out the way you thought it would?
Will you say the same about Morbius? Directed by a white guy, written by two white guys.
Isaac Perlmutter and Neslon Pelzt both born 1942 are older than time ,how are they still chairperson of Marvel entertainment
how is Biden still president at his exact same age as Peltz?
"As Peltz would say 'two too many'" 😂😂😂 Ya funny
Kris to answer your question this seems like a pure case of personal vendetta over business structure. For someone to say they don't want female leads or an all black cast or even let Kevin Feige keep his job, all of this smells like a personal vendetta over a professional business move
Someone tell Archie Bunker to go back to his kitchen and eat his oatmeal and rice pudding. 🙄
The MCU went south after the previous CEO came in and changed everything and created a mess by ram assing content at the expense of quality. The new CEO is now going back to what made him billions by putting people in the right place to do what they do best.
That's an insult to Archie Bunker. In the actual series Archie supported and defended people of different races and cultures.
Kevin Feige will be fine once they get Deadpool & Wolverine receipts.
It’ll just be like GOTG 3, if the success doesn’t continue it won’t change a thing. Deadpool was successful before the MCU so people are expecting it to be a banger, just like people expected Guardians 3 to be a banger because James Gunn is an amazing storyteller. They’re like outliers.
@@crazycriz5000 Yeah I don't think any single movie can be the saviour of the MCU. coz what they need is a proper direction. If a movie vows to correct that, then we could say the MCU is back on track. But there seems to be no vision. These are certain isolated projects which literally take place outside the current MCU. Nd it's just a temporary fix. Marvel cab only truly be fixed when they set out m with a clear direction in terms of story telling.
@@funkysam1345 And stop hiring directors like Nia Dacosta
I lost it when John said this “nipple pimple”. I’m still dying 😂 gonna try to use that sometime
It amazes me they didn't mention former Marvel Entertainment president Ike Perlmutter said the exact same thing. He based his opinion on this based on he didn't think the action figures would sell. Sounds like Perlmutter got in Peltz's ear, both are in the wrong.
Did you actually watch the video?
@@johncampea Of course, I don't recall hearing Perlmutter's name in it though. Peltz's talking points are exactly the same as Perlmutter's, whether they are for the exact reasons I don't know, but either way regardless of Perlmutter or Peltz's reasoning for their statements, they are both in the wrong.
oId wite man doesn't want all black cast? SHOCKING
Made even worse by the fact that he is attempting to PERMANENTLY BAN gender equality.
The return of Perlmutter
He much prefers putting his daughter in his movies, but never as a leading actor. I’m surprised no one’s talking about how this guy is the Nicol Peltz’s dad, Katara from The Last Airbender 2010 and Problematic Female Character #1 from Transformers Age of Extinction.
@@ronpetersen2317 You might be confusing your anti-equity ideology with what happened with Black Panther and Captain Marvel. It’s not as if there was a white Black Panther with a white cast that got “pushed out and replaced” by Black people. It’s not as if “being white” is the default attribute of all movie characters, and therefore the existence of a couple films about and starring Black people is taking anything away from white people.
@@lucascassol2995 And the entire reason for that is another Exec was having issues with his son being in trouble for dating someone underage. So he put his daughter in the movie with that weird Romeo/Juliet law as a favor for him
Fire him instead of Kevin Feige
Feige gave us Iron Man, Avengers, Guardians and Winter Solider his work speaks for itself
That's old news. Phase 4 and 5 have struggled, at best.
And your just naming movies that are unanimously considered great. Besides those, the entire mcu averaged 1 billion per film so even the ones you haven't named are MAJORITY HUGE financial successes. So this guy's questioning the current leadership just based off 2 years is kinda lame.

@txag there's nothing that shows it will continue either 🤷🏽♂️. To say major disappointment is subjective while figures and data say it's been "A" disappointment for sure (MAJOR is the subjective part). Either way none of what you said refutes what I just said about this Pelz guy's stupid statements

You're more than welcome to prove his statements are objectively stupid.
Wakanda Forever was also a female lead film. So it should increase the average box office for that category.
Wakanda Forever was very much carried by the sentiment of Chadwick’s passing, it was more so a celebration of his memory as T’challa. The movie was pretty mid.
I would like more diversity films. However, I’m tired of gender and race swapping. There’s so many good heroes to choose from. Blue marvel, is a black hero who has to do with the civil rights movement and is extremely intelligent and powerful. He is just one example of many. Or Dr voodoo
This, most people don’t have an issue with diversity, it’s the unnecessary race and gender swapping that’s annoying, as you said there’s so many good original characters they could use but they don’t

The problem is that the stories and scripts have been crap and now they give acting, directing and storytelling to women and blacks who have no prior experience.
It's a recipe for disaster at the box office and that's exactly what has been happening. These movies dont have female or black leads because it makes sense for the story. I would honestly be surprised if he knew that.
No. Be snarky. Peltz is rectal cancer in human form.
And replace Feige with who exactly? Whoever takes over Feige has to be all in and have a vision of an overall story. We all know that there will be someone who takes over Feige's job one day, and hopefully by that time they have someone that can get the hype to days of the infinity saga. If someone comes out and says "why do we have to have an all black cast in a Marvel film" , while they're not saying I don't want an all black cast, they are basically inferring that they don't want one. If he wanted to make a point Nelson should’ve gone after Star Wars. You just can’t go after Marvel like that. Don’t go me wrong the last phase of marvel has been lukewarm/ hit & miss, but it hasn’t been a disaster. I kind of think you’ll see them turn it around the next few years.
Im sure Fiege has many faults but there are 2 things you absolutely cant question about him, one is his hat and the other is his record. And the only thing that is open for debate about him, is how to pronnounce his name. That is it.
No his choices and lack of success over the last 5 years do bring his tenure into question. As phase 4 and on he was soley in charge with no oversight and we’ve seen the decline in quality, hiring the necessary experienced writers and directors and decline at the box office and viewership at marvel.

Technically there are 4 female led Marvel films. Eternals technically counts. That being said, this conversation was just great. The numbers don't lie.
Edit: 5 films. Another comment below mentioned Wakanda Forever.
Kris is correct. Nelson Peltz is a get off my lawn person. 😂
When people show you who they are, believe ‘em!
@@kriscarr4929 I guess we know you're votin red! Biden must be too old!
@@SirmasterBruceWang nah, he’s far less get off my lawn than Trump- who literally wants people out of “his” country. 👋🏻
@@kriscarr4929 ohhh so age only matters when you're trying to make a point, got it. Biden and Peltz are the exact same age. You don't want illegal people out of the country? You just think let's let unlimited people into the country? Is that sustainable you think for a country? Do you know how many other countries enforce their borders? All those other countries must be evil too right?
@@kriscarr4929 you should look up all the countries that enforce their borders and then tell me if you think all those countries are evil
So out of 33 marvel films only 3 have female leads!?!? That’s your M-SHE-U 3 films!?!?
Well on the film side its technically 5 female led movies, but for context there are multiple female led Disney+ shows like Echo, Ms Marvel, Wandavision, She-Hulk, and you could argue Hawkeye and Secret Invasion, which are all part of the MCU. I don't really care about the M-She-U argument but you can't ignore that those properties exist.
@@BPS3519correct but if you look at all the Disney + series, there is a balance 4 male vs 4 female led shows (I don't count what if as it's an ensemble show)
@@BPS3519 Hawkeye and definitely Secret Invasion were definitely not female led Disney+ shows. By the same definition, Wandavision could be argued as a male led show.
@@BPS3519 and are all of these NOT Marvel characters with their own comic series that Disney borrowed from to make the shows and films?
@@Michael-le5ph Elaborate on your point a little more plz. They are marvel characters. The OP post was that there were only 3 female lead properties in the MCU. I was just stating that that was factually incorrect as the Disney+ shows are a part of the MCU and there a quite a few female led shows.
Glad to see common sense and civility is so prevalent in the comments here
Isn’t Black Panther 2 a female led movie too?
“I question his record” is crazy! Peltz is the type of guy to say “I’m not racist, I have a black driver". It’s bad enough this dude spent the better part of a century ruining the world but now he wants to ruin my entertainment.
"Math is math"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, no need for this dude on any board yet alone Disney. With quotes like that, they should just vote no and move it along. What a schmuck.
11:57 Wakanda Forever is also a woman led film that should be on that list.
that movie is terrible, They should have recasted tchalla. The character should not die just because cadwick boseman died, that was an emotional decision not logical.
@@ojar91 extreme leftist logic is to make decisions based on emotion rather than logic or facts
@ojar91 $859.2 million for an illogical decision is pretty good to me. 🤷🏾♂️
@@xman48205 that made 200 million dollar less that the first one, that’s a decline.
The types of things you say when you hop from insulated bubble to insulated bubble.
If Pearlmutter was in charge we would not have gotten Black Panther.
Gotta agree with you there.
We would not have gotten a lot of things with Perlmutter in charge and we would have lost Feige a long time ago. I don't think the MCU would have remained as successful as it has been under Perlmutter's rule.
Not just that.
Hopefully, people listen to this and not continue to be naive that the individuals that make things happen, think like this. If it weren't certain protection Black people fought for, we would still be slaves. Reparations are owed for this very reason, his view points are shared by his peers as well. He just made his public
5:19 if Feige is out, I’m done with Marvel. It’s really that simple.
A couple of opposing forces: 1) Back when basically all movies and TV centered around white males, whites were the majority of the audience. Now that many films and TV shows are moving away from white males, whites are still the majority of the audience. That's bound to hit differently LOL.
2) Back when basically all movies abd TV shows centered around white males, basically all working actors were white males. Nowadays, we've got lots and lots of non-white or female actors looking for work. The proportions are a bit different now.
This is not super accurate though, in the key demo adults 18-49 whites are not in the majority (difference is within the margin of error), and when it comes to who is actually buying things or consuming media the key demo is king.
There's a difference between movies having a message and movies being used for messaging. Are we really going to look at who they chose for the next Star Wars movie - an activist and journalist who has NEVER made a cinematic movie, whose only relevant experience is making documentaries and making the two worst rated episodes of She Hulk, and say she was chosen because she's the best person to helm a blockbuster movie and deliver big numbers? I mean, really? If I was a Disney investor I'd be pissed off too at what's happening.
I think you have a great point there. I think that the guy they were talking about had quite an extreme opinion. However I do think that Disney/Marvel should be aware that they may have over corrected just a bit trying to be more inclusive as they should.
Also I think that even though the white male characters being replaced or on their way is a minor issue. I think the bigger issue is making smarter choices for directors and really making sure that scripts are well written. Writing and directing I think are the main reason we have had so many mid to straight up bad MCU movies and shows lately.
Activist for what policies exactly? Be specific.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directed (not wrote) two episodes of Disney+'s Ms. Marvel, not She-Hulk, which stars a 16-year-old Pakistani-American character. The two episodes she directed, episode 4 "Seeing Red" and episode 5 "Time and Again", happen to be the ones where the character goes to Pakistan and is transported back in time to the partition of India.
Again.. Obaid-Chinoy was just the director of these two episodes. She didn't write them and she didn't create the story.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has two Oscars and seven Emmys, and was one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people, thanks in part to her documentaries around Pakistan. So, it makes sense why the showrunners hired her to direct those two episodes. They wanted to bring a level of authenticity to the story they were telling, considering Obaid-Chinoy's proven track record.
As for the Star Wars Rey movie, again, Obaid-Chinoy was hired to direct the film. She's not writing it. She's not creating the story. The script was written by Steven Knight based on a draft by Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson.
You seem to have a child's understanding of how film works. Which makes sense, considering you have a child's mentality about women and other scary ideas like equality.
@spicymemes7458 what does it matter? Shouldn't directors be chosen on their experience and merit instead of their politics?
@@jamiepeterson19812 oscars and 7 Emmys?

hmmm last i checked the marvels was all women .
Samuel L Jackson was in it , so not all female lead
@@cbeattie778 How dare you make assumptions of Samuel L Jackson's gender!
What about Ms Marvels father and brother?

Let me try this: ALL FEMALE and female lead are not the same thing. Dude said all females and all Black, those don't exist. He sounds stupid. Even if he said Black lead or female lead WHY would he have an issue with those to be questioning them? Seems like either statement is either factually wrong or just plain goofy and ignorant
The principle Skinner meme in executive form. “It’s the children who are out of touch.”
LOL, if Disney fire Kevin Feige this minute, all the studios will line up at Feige's door to hire him. How short-sighted, and this dude is a money invest guy??? really???
Idk if they’d be lined up to hire him. Peltz is questioning Feige’s current track record and it’s not good as Marvel for the last 5 years has been on a decline and very noticeably at that.
"Nipple pimple."
It's even better (worse) than you say. Black Widow was a Pandemic film, and its gross kind of could/should include the SPVOD. So it's higher and both affected its gross as listed.

I bet Mr. Peltz wants Bob Chapek back
I was thinking the same thing.
Not likely. Remember Chapek had a very public row with Ron DeSantis that he absolutely did not need to have in public
Those comments will ensure that Iger keeps control of Disney.
For Disney stockholders, anyone claiming that the _Black Panther_ movies was not a good idea is someone you will NOT support during a proxy fight. And it's not even about representation - freakin' series grossed over $2 billion in two movies. Badmouthing investments that gave great returns is a sign of a investor being completely out of his depth.
Iger probably needs to be replaced... but Peltz is definitely not the right guy for that job.
