This is probably the finest interview with real insights into how the Himalayas are being destroyed. I started going to Himachalin in 2003 with friends & I remember the amount of greenery although I road was narrow but the journey itself was delightful now when I go to himachal in almost every summer, I really miss the old himachal.
4:06 In Himachal it's unnecessary/forced construction, Four lane Highway to manali , new busstand inside the river for volvo type busses! Also massive sewerage outlet pipe probably 10-15ft wide directly into the river, There used be an huge jungle there with those tall trees. IMD has stopped updating it's satellite imagine for this region even BBMB has stopped posting real time data about the water level in our dams and still noone is asking the right questions.
Need to invent new economic and development models that are sustainable and are in harmony with nature - it would be further disastrous if we continue whatever we want to do, especially in mountain areas.
