Been watching this the following day and I really felt Steven's pain. At 4:03:30 - When you've been fighting 'Ultron' for ages, and you're just sick to the teeth of them making drones and stealing all your good cards!
Steven: "That is amazing drones. You guys.... Ultron.... you are pumping great drones these days, just top-notch drones! Top notch lemme tell ya!"
Yep definitely one thing that makes Ultron unique. Such a cool design...the thief!

Didn't see this mentioned in chat or in the comments, but at least in the last game you guys never resolved the Main Scheme 2 ability (each player chooses to place additional threat on the main scheme or put a drone in play).
So it was even worse!

Bit of a thought. Is your experience at playing card games killing you here, and I mean the the fixation on the 40 card deck size. You're losing a number of cards to drones and the odds are that the cards you need are face down attacking you, or being Hawkeyed into your discard pile. I think at one point every drone in front of Steven was one of the cards that make BP work. As a quick aside, is BP the worst hero to play against Ultron because of his mechanics. This didn't seem so noticeable with Zach's decks, but that could be because BP needs those specific cards so was more in your face.
Against any other villain a deck cycle means you have a chance to get your gear on. With Ultron the deck cycle doesn't mean the same thing. No idea what the maths would say on this, the percentages are small with a quick few minutes thought on the subject, but maybe a bit of padding in the deck might help.
You're always balancing speed of additional encounter card v. quality of cards drawn. The consequence of a drone taking a card from your deck is that you're either closer to your best card or closer to your worst card. Adding more cards just increases the chances that you're closer to a worse card than a better card. Is more "less good" cards still better than one additional encounter card every X turns? That'd be the math. We'd bet that it still favors a trim deck. That's assuming there aren't equally efficient cards that could put you above 30. You could make an argument that 3 Haymakers and 3 Uppercuts are equivalent, for instance. Maybe we should dive into this fully.
As for BP, yes he probably suffers quite a bit to Ultron - all the builders do. Iron Man wouldn't like getting his gear stolen anymore than Black Panther; it's hard to decide who would be hit the worst on that trade. But as long as Captain America doesn't get that shield stolen he should be fine. Captain Marvel would probably be fine too, which is why we'll probably end up on the Captain Squared team.
Nice video again. The challenge is great. I am still trying to do the same thing you are with MODOK as the modular and still haven't gotten there yet either. In your final game, you actually lost at about 5:33:00. At that point, you and the stream missed Black Panther taking damage from another drone. The drone had been forgotten, was added and retaliated but no damage was assigned to Black Panther. Later on Black Panther only had one hit point left, so the missed drone damage would have done him in. Looking forward to your next attempt.
I believe that the Caught Off Guard that happens around 4:56:50 could discard the Under Surveillance instead of Cap's Shield. The upgrade is still under your control, and according to the 'Ownership and Control' rules on page 12 of the Rules Reference, it should be a valid option. Obviously it's still not great, but considering Cap's shield is so vital for the Retaliate in this scenario (not to mention cards like Shield Toss or Shield Block that require it to be out), it'd probably be better to ditch the van and hope to draw back into it later.
This is the next level.
Have you tried to play BP protection and Cap leadership? With his discount makes most sense for him to be the leadership player and also to make sure you never flip back to alter ego ever? Also ditch the mansions and dont play golden city and just focus on using Unflappable and Energy Barriers and Night Nurse to heal up? Seems to work well for me
We did try that, yes. It was pretty early.
I really don't understand the controversy. Biomechanical Upgrade reads printed, Rules Reference pg 13 under printed states "printed" what is physically printed on the card. The back of the players cards do not have values printed on them...anyway great work as always, you give a reason to look forward to Mondays.

Have you thought about doing an Ultra Hard Mode? 2 people vs two Bosses. Players go first followed by Bosses.
I love this game but am a relative noob, I don’t have some of the aspect cards you showed. Such as expert defense. How do you get more aspect cards?
They're included in Hero Packs, primarily. You get a new hero, and then you also get new aspect cards that you can use with any hero. You can check out our subscription to get all new Hero Packs as soon as they come out, which a great way to keep up.

We're beholden to Asmodee and their distributor(s) on this one. When they open back up is an unknown, but we'd expect it to be soon given the state of business elsewhere.
Leadership justice felt better. My 2 cents from watching your play and my own.... Black Panther isn’t good, especially vs ultron. His wakanda turns get droned out and even when they would happen aren’t as impactful as other heroes signature abilities. His extra resources aren’t even as good as captain marvels for example. Staying in hero mode is good for the first few turns, that really helped. I think the two focuses need to be on side scene removal for those that add encounter cards and getting large minions off the board so they don’t get biomech upgraded. The cost of not dealing with those had repercussions for 4, 5 and even 6 turns later in some cases. I think captain marvel is stronger than iron man with her card draw as danvers, heal & cycle as marvel and her 3x resources to pair up with Captain America.
Captain America + Captain Marvel; that seems the ticket.
The Captains do sound good, call me bias but let's not forget about Ms Marvel. She can remove a large amount of threat when paired with justice. I agree with Chris about Captain Marvel.
Sad I missed the rest of this live, like TCs response to being spammed "we're legit". A couple hours in when Luke is played shows the reason I don't like him. U play him, hold for block, then nothing, finally ready, maybe attack...its just too little impact for cost.
