I do manual backups more then anything, most of the time they get put into an external cabinet while i transfer over everything too the new pc or hardware if its a testrig im building or random pc from old parts.
If i have games on steam i just log into my steam account on the new pc and instal the games right. And i need to move folders if i want right beacausr tbh i got noting that i need at file explorer only some mod folders for games. And question for steam my game saves gonna be the same on the new pc yes?
Does it transfer app data and settings as in the files in the user folder and reg settings, or does it transfer the actual apps and software?? I could not get a straight answer from the developer. What is the file structure inside the created image file? Is it the folder of the user profile inside windows\users? Thanks
It really depends. My Thunderbird E-mail was fine. An FTP program was not. But they had a easy transer method of the ini file. Anything with registry codes needed to be reinstalled. This is not making an image of a faster/larger HD and reinstalling that HD into the same PC.
website claimed to give me copies of many old comic books. I had to download some zip drive which was SeUS Todo PCTrans Setup (application .exe). It was not a file of the comic books but an application that I will need to give permission to run on my PC. I do not want to process because that seems a bit odd. What am I missing here?
The question remains: does it restore the full user account (= create new same named user) like MacOS Migration tool does? This is important to know for restore: do I create a helper account to import the real account or do I have to create the target account first and start it there?
What if you upgrade the hdd to an ssd? Then what? Does the app get installed on the new installation and then can you hook up old hdd via usb and have the app read the drive's contents to pick and choose which app(s) are transferred? Not interested in doing an image copy as the old installation was quite messy and VERY slow.
Most SSD drives come with a copying program for an exact dup. No big deal. This is for a core 2 PC to a I5 or I7 and different video cards, chip drivers and such.
Hey Nicolas. So does this program also take the game saves into account? They're always placed in another folder like 'Documents' or 'My games' for instance. And moving a game from drive X to drive Y without it's saves/progress is not an added value in my opinion
An you use this software to transfer software applications from the old laptop to the new laptop? My other problem is the old HP Pavillion laptop' video is now all scrambled , totally illegible? Can i connect an external monitor that will e recognized at start up?

My pc motherboard is pretty broken and it broke again, so its just better to sell the pc and buy a new one than just fix it like every month until its unfixable and it breaks completely, and I really didn't like that because there was no other way and i wanted ALL of my settings and data on the new pc, like the custom cursor, highlight text background colour and the dragbox colour, and many other settings because im an aesthetic guy so most of the settings are custom, thanks so much for this tutorial
No.. Word 2010, Maywarebytes, AVG all have to be reinstalled (or transfer the codes). Only a direct copy of your HD to another HD will do that as long as the new HD goes to the same PC. Pretty difficult when moving to a new PC with new hardware. It is possible but not sure if the program key will know it's new hardware.
Have you backed up or recovered your files with an image file before? 😄

I have a 2TB NVMe M.2 drive in an external case plugged into the rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port that I use for backups.
Old fashioned way, because I trust myself, I know where everything is. My pc is the most organized part of my house lol

I have no idea what website you've visited, but NEVER ever open and run unknown .exe files!

Sure, they chose their own filename, based on the name of their software: .PCT(-rans)
Are downloads also transferred?
I'm sure all regular files of your users are transferred. The finicky things are with installed software, and the personal settings.
