I would love to donate cards, how would I go about that? I was thinking nursing homes.

Nursing homes are a great option. It's best to talk to the events co-ordinator at one local to you to see what would be most help. eg holiday cards with messages inside so they can hand them out to residents. Blank cards the residents can use to send to family. Cards for the staff to use for residents on their birthday (blank or with a message). If you're US based there are lots of other options also. Let me know and I can share a link.
