    It should be noted that the Ryobi tested is their old discontinued model. They have a new one that's brushless and has the handle like you suggested

    Interesting review. Rotary hammers are one tool that tend to be accurately described by manufacturers: impact energy in Joules is easy for them to measure, and BPM is the other main variable.

    • @TorqueTestChannel
      @TorqueTestChannel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The question is what's stopping them from fudging the numbers. If M18 is 2.6 joules, and my brand is coming out with our next generation we want to advertise 2.8 joules, do the engineers or marketing execs get to make that call?

    • @default9740

      @@TorqueTestChannel I’m sure that depends on the company. I reckon we’ve probably seen a familiar theme, thanks to testing such as yours.

    I spent sometimes hours a day with a hammer drill in my hands treating for termites. $ to $ Im definitely in the Bauer corner. Although none of the 3 would even begin to touch a Bosch.

      If I was gonna be using it every day... I would DEFINITELY put out the extra $$ for a Bosch. For a casual user like me (Plumber) who only needs a rotary hammer every couple months ... Videos like this are a big help in deciding which cheap one to buy.

    That Bauer put up a good showing! The price is also good, even if it is a bare tool.

    Thanks again! Nice shorts, btw.

    • @rpavlik1
      @rpavlik1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, that's just the strategy they have. You don't pay for a longer warranty unless you want one. (Some of their stuff is exactly the same as what I get as a Menards store brand with 2 year warranty)

      You pointed out my problem with Bauer. I only ever used 1 Bauer, and that was their 1-9/16" SDS max corded hammer. Such a good price. I was drilling 24" holes into granite for chemical blasting. Annnnnnnd I went through 3 of them before getting a Bosh at double the cost. They just died. consistently. I'm sure I was abusing them, but then I got the bosh and it was abused even harder. No problem. The only good thing about the Bauer was the return policy. Every time it stopped working I brought it back and they gave me a new one, and after the 3rd one I just took my money back. I have never felt like I need to worry about longevity of tools - even my black and decker, craftsman, I have even hyper tough power tools. And I have never broken any. I know its probably a bit unfair, my drills and drivers and saws probably don't get abused like the rotary hammer. But after that experience, I just don't trust Bauer tools to last. Because to me, how consistently it failed, in exactly the same way, points to a design defect.

    • @voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885
      @voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rpavlik1 that's interesting on the Menards "Skil" brand - although they don't offer an 8ah battery like Bauer does. I haven't had any problem with Bauer tools but I've definitely had Menard "in-store" brands not last at all. I'd rather have a tool that works then have to deal with a warranty.

    I’ve been checking that dewalt hammer drill out in the Home Dumpot for about 3 months now. It’s a sexy looking tool. There are two of them. One is a little bigger. I was checking out their amperage and noticed that they didn’t really pull much in comparison to an older sawzall shaped hammer drill. I guess they’re good for being lightweight and longer battery life. Which has its place on a job site as well. Less running back to get batteries.
